Bea - I'd start a fresh thread if I were you - that way you'll have everyone look at it fresh - we're always looking for new toddler classes! There was (or is) a great one that sounds very similar to your idea at a local pub on a Friday morning and they charge 3 or 4 pounds I think. I think maybe mornings are best generally as the kiddies are wide awake and generally in a good mood. Its good to have a varied age groups for those moms with more then one kid, but also for those of us who's little one loves watching the older kids too. Good luck - we'll definitely support you if you start up!

dummies / pacifiers and how to avoid using them?
linzkg replied to benjaminty's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Same with us - we were able to avoid dummies and I am glad for it (though my son was a massive sucker too) .. though there have been times when I've tried to get one in my son's mouth to calm him (and I possibly thought it would help with teething somehow) but he's 14 months now so there was no going back which from time to time I've actually regretted. Maybe leave the dummy in the cot and just use it at sleep time? -
Manual electronic breast pump - which one should I get?
linzkg replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I had electric initially but went on holiday so bought a manual - recommended the Lansinoh one - wish i'D had it from the start! Super light and easy .. And you can multiple task whilst pumping as apposed to being stuck to the electric one. -

Peckham Rye baby group meeting today at 2pm?
linzkg replied to Sunflower76's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi, yes I think we are .. there are at least a couple of us around today and tomorrow .. we've got an email going around so just confirming (I may be a little flaky as i need to dash into the city to take hubby a tie and his suit jacket - go figure! - but hoping to be home in time for 2pm!) -
recommendation - playpen vs travel cot
linzkg replied to nikki73's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Saw the babydan playden at Peter Jones this weekend and thought it looked fab - wooden one. It can also be used as a cot so has a setting that you can raise the mattress part for smaller bubs - its fab! -
I second acupuncture - Dulwich Therapy Rooms does it too (ask for Dan possibly) I have castor oil you're welcome to try - didn't work on me but then that was just my luck I'm sure. I was desperate so took it - I'd also tried pineapples and curries etc. I was also with the Brierley and I also had sweeps almost daily (yuk!) I eventually on the Friday evening burst into tears as I did not want an induction so we googled reflexology points and it worked wonders - waters broke 4 hours later! at 42 weeks. I would try avoid an induction and go the natural route as best you can - I still ended up in hospital but not the maternity ward as no beds and I had 3 ladies with me all going through it .. sorry. but for the above stories some ladies have an alright time!! Definitely try the reflexology points though - its pretty easy - and I've heard others use the same method. Good luck.

6 months pregnant - how to survive the final 3?
linzkg replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
ok - so i sound like a complete hypochondriac now, or I just had a bad pregnancy - I'd completely forgotten about restless legs! very frustrating and makes you want to cry out in a pathetic whine - haha! apparently not much you can do about it. it keeps you awake though because as soon as you get comfy and drift off you need to move your legs about and wriggle. i did find though, if i actually just got out of bed (whatever the hour) and went for a short walk and stretch it did help (sometimes) and also just made sure i was drinking lots of fluids (think i read somewhere that it helps.) -
don't think so .. I can make mornings too .. speaking of which we're back and I need to return the float you kindly let us use!

6 months pregnant - how to survive the final 3?
linzkg replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Moos - good point and good idea - I suffer with low iron and took Floridex throughout my pregnancy too as it can make you feel horrible -
I'm happy for Tuesday too! Don't mind which park at all, though Rye would be my preference

6 months pregnant - how to survive the final 3?
linzkg replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I've only had one pregnancy but from the start I was ill with morning sickness and indigestion and SPD so really didn't enjoy it at all but did look forward to my yoga classes and definitely swimming, or should I say wallowing in the shallows. I also have a couple of belts which, if I can dig them out, you're more then welcome to try out (I was constantly holding my bump up as it felt very uncomfortable and tight.) -
we went to them too and thoroughly enjoyed them (so did my NCT mums that went) and we also met other mums and made new friends. the lady who runs the classes is hilarious and the class content is good. enjoy!

We're going away tomorrow and the hotel we're staying at has a pool so suddenly thought one of those float jackets or just a pool float will come in very handy! My son is 13 months and loves the water but obviously can't officially swim .. so what's best? Any opinions? (Before I go and spend almost 30 pounds on a float jacket!)

I absolutely hate smears and any form of 'prodding'. I had a smear pretty much every other day for 2 weeks trying to bring on labour. It is uncomfortable and sore too - its just a very awkward feeling and obviously a little scary - but it only takes a couple of minutes and is worth it when you want to bring on labour - my sweeps were all unsuccessful - but anything to avoid induction. She must just take deep breaths and possibly even turn the tv on or something so she's not tense and expecting the worst!

Dulwich Mums Park meet up wc 12th July
linzkg replied to louloulabelle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Pancakes - I'm sure its absolutely fine! We are meeting today at 2pm - let me know if you intend on joining and I can send you my mobile number. -
I used that line all the time, have done for 5 plus years now, but thankfully I'm now at home with my boy so I don't have to use it in peak times. But I don't think the trains are that packed anymore due to the East London overland train now running in parallel? My hubby says its amazing the change and how less packed the trains are? Also, towards the back of the trains often have buggies at that time of the morning .. I'd be more worried about London Bridge train station itself as that's super busy with people marching along .. but again there are still buggies and unfortunately you gotta do what you gotta do. There's also the case of the steps at Honor Oak Park station .. they're terrible! Who knows what plans there are for a lift (Forest Hill has one though) but saying that people are VERY helpful there and there's always a mom or dad jumping at the opportunity to help as they know exactly what you're going through .. well at least that's what I've experienced each time. PS, you could try Piplings Nursery - Emma - she's very close to Forest Hill station and may have a space or 2 left. Good luck!

My son is with the Sunshine House, Peckham Road - the service is amazing and the staff are too! (He's also got a physio there and she to has been incredible with him.) We were referred to them through Kings but I wouldn't hesitate recommending them even if its not private (we've got private cover but never felt the need to make use of it) Maybe you could get the referral changed to them? Unless of coz you find a good private one too .. good luck.
