  1. Attempting to regain a little fitness I?ve been alternating between staggering around Peckham Rye and Dulwich Park. DP is flatter and has less traffic fumes, the Rye seems friendlier, with runners who actually smile back. Any thoughts? And has anyone worked out how far a lap round either park is?
  2. Does this mean you?re promising not to breed Matt? Or just not to go out if you ever do? Probably a good thing for all of us.
  3. So you're an unnamed retailer having a pop at a named business and rival on a public forum. How brave. I've always found Dr Boo helpful and charming. And I've always suspected that I do look like a shop lifter. Maybe I used to and I've got older, who knows... But anyway, I think that?s a nasty unprofessional attack from Monica.
  4. Or, maybe, try not dropping your crap on the floor for someone else to deal with?
  5. So, are we talking about the extreme end of school bullies? Which isn?t to belittle it at all. It is totally unacceptable that anyone shouldn?t be able to go about their lives without fear. But if that is what we are talking about then it suggests the solution may involve some sort of joint work between the police and schools, no?
  6. No. No one. I think its important that this doesn?t become an exercise in frightening ourselves.
  7. Blimmey. Went away for a couple of days (it was a big bun) and missed all the excitement. Were any of those blank messages worth reading? Yet again, snorkey is spot on. And Peckhamgatecrasher, yes, of course. Except I am, in fact, a dog.
  8. Maybe if you believe in it, then it works for you, maybe. But in reality weight loss is down to burning more calories than you consume. That simple. Eat less, exercise more. But the slimming industry is all about making money and that means they need something a little more complicated. I do think that if you are making money from something, and I assume that?s why you are the sales contact on the product web site, you ought to come clean and not just pretend to be recommending a product out of the goodness of your heart. I?m off for a bun.
  9. I hate this sort of crap, selling magic pills and spells, playing on people?s insecurities that they might not match up to an air brushed plastic dream sold by glossy magazines. And is it a coincidence that a Nuala is on their web site as a ?level one independent distributor?? And come to that, what is a ?level one independent distributor?? Good grief...
  10. " Can I get.." in a shop or resturant meaning "I would like". Where is that from?
  11. I just want the birthday card that was sent to me at the beginning of November. Tried to complain but was told that only the sender and do that. As the sender, my father, is 86 and rather frail it probably isn?t going to happen. Gave up on the local post a long time ago when ordering stuff from the web. Get it sent to work or a North London friend instead. Good luck with the campaign.
  12. Been cycling in London on and off for around 30 years.. More off than on at the moment as my main office is in Manchester and the other at home. When I do get to cycle to work these days it tends to be to London Bridge - which seems to take me longer than anyone else here. I?m putting that down to starting in the upper East Side but it probably due to being old and heavy? Three accidents, one my fault so I?m not going hot talk about it, one a passenger opening a door of a moving delivery van and another a passenger getting out of the back seat of a car at a queue for traffic lights. All a long time a ago, but an average of one every 10 years isn?t bad Miss cycling so much now. Maybe I should start doing it for fun again! Secret of successful cycle commuting? A shower when you get there.
  13. Once again - spot on snorky! Ladygooner - if you go make sure you wear an appropriate T-shirt. Maybe people here could suggest an appropriate slogan?
  14. Lived in Islington form mid 70s till moving to Whitstable in the mid 90?s (not a great idea) and to ED a couple of years ago. Miss the Screen on the Green and the Scala, and the bands at The Hope and Anchor. But much has moved on and guess only the Screen remains much as it did back then. And I guess X-Ray Specs at the Hope would have the same appeal for me now. Do find myself back there now and then, mainly for football and to see old friends. Upper St now feels more like the West End, full of students and tourists. I fell for East Dulwich after I used it somewhere to meet a friend who was helping me find somewhere to live. I didn?t find myself lingering in Whitechapel or the cheaper parts of Islington I could still afford, but spent more and more time happily wondering around SE22. As I said, been here a couple of years now. Like the park, the Rye, the shops, the generally friendly people. Works better as a place to live than as a base to travelling to and from.
  15. Why would the Conservatives actually want to be elected? They all earn a lot more with their other interests than they would as MPs and New Labour have been implementing their policies for years.
  16. Thanks MM. Looks like an early start for me....
  17. Really enjoyed the fete. Felt like a little bit of Ambridge in SE22. Many thanks to the organisers.
  18. Oh ?, need to be at Euston by quarter to nine tomorrow. Guess I?d best get the bust from Forest Hill Rd, think it?s a 63?, and walk from Kings Cross. Any idea how long it will take? Should I leave soon?
  19. Could Mic Martins possibly be any relation of..... Bob Martins, he of the worming tablets? We should be told!
  20. Yup a real 'natural leader'! Bet he could kick a football straight!
  21. Lion poo works until it rains. You can also get them from London Zoo if you ask and smile. But they Seem to get less effective with each downpour. Tea bags soaked in Jayes fluid work but stink. I?ve even tried one of those ultra sound things. Seems to work for squirrels but not moggies.
  22. In which case replacing the soil may be an idea. If for no other reason than the smell. Any light soil will do. It isnt fussy re acid/ alkaline.(The plant, dont know about the cat).
  23. Should be hard to kill and probably doesn?t need new compost unless the kitten is to blame. Cat pee kills most things. Don?t over water, soil shouldn?t feel damp. Broken crocks are to aid drainage. Good luck
  24. Can recommend barbers shop. Got no hair to speak of myself, but dragged reluctant teenage son there and found the barber tolerant, diligent and, in the circumstances, diplomatic.
  25. Maybe dangerous banking wear for surfers would be stocking, over the head, but a little too sheer?
