Anorak Or if you don't want a specific changing bag get their oilcloth washbags & you can fit in enough for a change: nappies, wipes, mat, bags etc and thin invest in a big handbag for the rest of the crap you need

7 months... Is this the time to refuse food?
mrs f replied to mrs f's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Started at 5 1/2 months as couldn't get by on 6 bf a day... Now on 4 bf a day We just managed some toast & half a pear whilst in my arms after consuming nothing at breakfast... -
I know there have been loads of weaning threads but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for. After previously eating like a maniac baby f has decided not to eat. He is now 7 months & lost his appetite whilst he was sick but now he is better (mostly)& meal times are getting worse & worse.... He now refuses to be spoon fed (unless it's apple when he will make an exception for 3-4 spoons) so it's all finger food. He starts off ok but then it quickly gets worse & worse & he just screeches or cries whilst I try & amuse him.... So my question is it normal to stop eating around this time & should I carry on with 'formal' mealtimes or offer snacks etc for a few days as he seems to tolerate these? I really don't want to create an issue arround food & he is still managing to sleep 7-6:30 so not bad (usually it would be more like 7:15) but it would be nice if he went back to eating everything!!! Thanks!

ADVICE: Ameda Lactaline Personal Breast Pump
mrs f replied to birnehelene's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi, have you checked the valves? they are the little white bits that attach to the section that attaches the boob bit and the bottle? if that has any slits or cuts in them then the suction will be crap, you can get cheap replacements online http://www.pumps4mums.co.uk/ameda-parts.htm otherwise check the attachment that goes from the pipe into the machine itself.... basically any air in any bits that lead to the suction cup will cause crap suction. I hope that helps -

Thought weaning was supposed to help babies sleep through?
mrs f replied to Al&Em's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Em, could it be a tooth? we though C was being a pain waking up at all hours and unable to get back to sleep recently & couldn't work it out until a tooth popped through...??? -
Hi, baby f suddenly started waking for no reason around this age & would be really tricky to get back to sleep. I was mean & let him cry it out & it took one night of lots of crying then a few nights of crying for 20 mins & then he was great again, only waking at 5/6 for a feed If you cam bear it leave him for a while (much easier said than done especially when all you want to do is get them back to sleep ASAP!) My son now sleeps really well generally

I get on the bus all the time with a camelion no probs, trains fine too, don't bother with the tube anymore!! I'd liken a bugaboo to a great pair of shoes, look good, but also are amazingly comfortable & go with anything, you always want to wear those shoes because of how comfy they are, they also wear really well & always look smart when you need them too, manage to have grip in the rain but be cool for the summer.... You paid a fortune for them but wear them more than any other pair you own & when you are sick of them you sell them on eBay & get a few quid back... V silly comparison I know but basically one of those things-I've never heard a bugaboo owner moan because their buggy is crap, you get what you pay for & that's great engineering in this case.... Oh & you can always get one 2nd hand in great nic on the forum as they wear so well!

Calling all mums - what do I need in my hospital bag?
mrs f replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Squeezy water bottle to squirt yourself with when you go to the loo after. Bendy straws Energy drinks Sweets Comfy clothes for after Everything for the baby -
I would seccond the wonderweeks book just so you know what they are roughly going through... also if you have an IPhone then get the app as it shows you when they have little clouds over their heads! but yes 4 months 'sleep regression' we are through it now and baby F sleeps better than he ever did before, so there is hope. I wouldn't neccesserally resort to baby rice in the first instance... In fact I never botherd with baby rice but that is a whole other thread, one we don't want to start !-)

I'm utterly gutted to have lost a hat my son's great grandma knitted for him... It's green stripes fairly simple design. I lost it this afternoon between the playground & the zebra crossing by Barry road going via the arboretum at around 4:15. I retraced my steps but couldn't see it but may have missed it or perhaps someone picked it up & put it somewhere??? It's really special to me as my grandma isn't all there with the knitting these days & it's really cute... Clearly my son is less of a fan but I was planning on saving it for siblings so please if anyone sees a green stripy baby hat please let me know Thanks so much

How about making a photo book where you can write in it too. I've used bob books a couple of times & they are lovely books, great quality.

have you tried putting a washable nappy wrap over the top to catch leaks?

Um could you try putting apple in with veg then gradually reducing the quantity of apple until it's just veg again?

I do understand what you are trying to say here BUT I think you are being a little dramatic. Sitting at your kitchen table & offering your baby food on a spoon is hardly that scary, you are not a stranger, you are their mum & are not hiding anywhere but sat with them. Don't get me wrong I'm all for BLW, think it's great but, please bear in mind that ED has a high proportion of mothers who are into modern/ hippy/ left wing etc parenting techniques however this does not represent the whole of ED, and certainally not the whole of the uk... I'm sure most people in this country do forms of TW with their babies & some are fussy & some (amazingly) aren't. SB tried BLW with no 1 & still has a fussy child so clearly it doesn't work for everyone... If BLW isn't for you, that doesnt make you a bad mother or control freak... It's pretty normal in fact. I have no weaning advice for you SB or Jenny, but I think some people on here are being a little idealistic with their view points. I know you both & think you are both fab mums & don't judge you for trying to get your babies to eat with a spoon. FREE infant first aid/resuscitation training
mrs f replied to suzyc's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hello, Just to keep you all updated, I have arranged a course but there are only spaces for 5 couples, all of which are already filled - sorry. I just emailed the guy and then he called me back so it was very easy to arrange and he was more than happy to do it in my house or any other venue. So, If you are interested then why not call him up and arrange one at yours or get a friend to arrange one at theirs. I'm sure this could be a weekly thing in ED the amonut of interest it's had! -
I had a la bassine & it was lovely. Water stayed warm, Walls were strong enough for me to lean on for hours on end. I would say though buy an electric pump for the air & an electric pump to drain the water out afterwards as these made it much easier Good luck!
