  1. I didn't read the review fully but the bits I did read sounded like teething problems I've used one for years and wouldn't use tampons or towels ever again as I now view them as dirty.... once you get the hang of them they are great & it's no more intrusive than a non aplicator tampon. They do take a while to get used to though
  2. I went to three weddings this year with my little baby in tow Wedding one, silk dress with drawstring top (looks better than it sounds!) Wedding two, silk dress with really wide/long down the body sleeves (slightly japaneese) so I could pull them over & latch baby on Wedding three a dress I could pull down & a nice shawl to cover modesty Don't get something you don't like, use what you have or get something you like & will wear again, you just need to be creative about how to get baby to nipple in an subtle way!
  3. We got lots of shower curtains from the pound shops on rye lane one sells packs of two for 99p/?1 & covered furniture & floor etc also I put a post up asking for old towels & sheets & cushions which were great to have to sit/lie on without worrying I had the la bassine pool which was great, sturdy & comfortable We tested filling it first & then at the time my husband kept it at temp (I was in there hours) We had a pump to drain it which was great, although of course I'd hope you have nothing to do with emptying it afterwards!! Other than that, yes put it with room all around so you can stay in position & the midwife can work around you Don't forget your sive & mirror! Good luck, I'm so happy I had my baby that way, it was lovely, especially as the midwife tucked us up into bed afterwards :-D
  4. Can you imagine Charles as your father in law?
  5. Hey srisky, it's been 3 weeks of on & off vomiting so I just can't see it being a bug??? No cows milk in diet, bfed & rice milk in cereal Although he had a bite of my cheese sandwich today so that might be worth exploring Thanks
  6. Thanks all, he actually doesn't have cows milk anyway so can't be that, we've been giving probiotic goats yog every day too... But may go down the specific probiotic route as the doc we saw on hols did suggest that... Sorry fushia my previous post want clear, he has only been "porely" with the cold for a couple of the vomiting episodes, the rest of the time he is fine during the day but then sick at night :-(
  7. He has only been otherwise sick some of the times.... a lot of the time he is otherwise fine
  8. would she take expressed milk? (could you bear to express) I guess it depends on how many days you are doing, how long your days are etc? I think my son was down to one daytime feed by then along with the morning and evening so presumably you can still do 1st thing and last thing? sorry that's not very useful
  9. quick disclaimer, I've seen two doctors already and am going again tomorrow! I just wanted more ideas / opinions as to what this MIGHT be so I can discuss with the doc tomorrow. So, one month ago my son (11m) got diaganosed with tonsilitis and perscribed amoxocillin. So we took the dose and the tonsilitis cleared up, great. We then went on holiday and three nights out of 7 he projectile vomited everywhere (nice!) we saw a doc on holiday and she thought it was due to the antibiotics killing all the 'good bacteria' and him now having an overly sensitive stomache.... He then contracts a horrid cold and a week later wakes up and vomits. (last monday) cold semi clears up (still streams of snot... you know how it is!) then vomits on Wed, Friday and Sunday. After Sunday I put him back onto puree food, really simple, veg and rice crackers etc... (I was taking it easy before this but not to that extreeme) Yesterday he had a horrible temperature but was ok in bed and today he was fine all day, on really good form but then vomited after supper (after I put him down, around an hour later) Has anyone else had any experience of an overly sensitive tummy after antibiotics and how long has this lasted.... this is 3 or so weeks since we finished them now. Or any ideas of anything else this could be? I was going to ask the doc for perhaps some allergy tests to see if it's a super sensitivity to something, but can allergeys appear like that if he is eating the same foods as he was before all of this?? Thanks for any help / advice P.S 2nd disclaimer, I'm really sorry about my awful spelling.... dyslexia combined with being too tired to spell check!
  10. nigella lawson's flourless chocolate orange cake is lovely & has actual oranges in it so it must be healthy!
  11. I've fed, in cafes (loads!), restaurants, park benches, peoples houses, the car, train stations, sainsburys and recently the tube(!) anywhere with a seat really! as the weather gets nicer it does get easier as you don't have to buy a drink in a cafe and can sit in the park but after a while you don't think twice about it Go out with some other brestfeeding mums... I'm sure there is a group - winter babies etc on here? and you won't feel so self consious and soon enough you won't notice but yes layering is good an top up vest down is a good method. I also perfer the feeding bras where it leaves a bit on the top of the boob if that makes sense for an added bit of privicy... I've never once had a negative comment and have had several people say "good for you" to me, honestly, people won't stare and are encouraging - especially around here
  12. Hello.. firstly well done on bfeeding so far, so many people struggle, I have seen friends first hand (jennyh eg) who haven't managed it at all or have found it really hard but you have got to the 1st hurdle so that's great. I'd actually think about whether you want to introduce your baby to formula.... or would you prefer to bfeed (for now)? I'm in no way trying to be pushy here but introducing a formula feed now would just complicate things no? in terms of prep etc Personally, I have had a very very very easy bfeeding journey, having a baby who got the hang of it straight away and is still going strong 11m in so I can vouch for how easy it CAN be.... like people have said, once you are happy to feed in public then it's very handy !-) I used the medula lactaline (i think that's right?) it's a double pump and very well thought of on here & I certainally found it great, and was in the habbit of expressing every day soon enough & would get around 5oz in 15 or so mins it does get easier and quicker... believe me if I get 10 mins during the day feed thats long! and my lo has gone from feeding for an hour before bed to 20 mins... and in the long run it's probably quicker due to the lack of prep you need to do! We established a routine fairly early on and that worked for us so we could plan our day more easily in terms of going out etc good luck in whatever you choose to do
  13. we are 3 (two adults and one 11mo) we get able and cole to deliver veg, go to the supermarket for fruit and meat and pulses rice etc. I try to buy all long life stuff like loo roll, tins and rice etc whatever keeps in bulk so I can just nip to the supermarket with the baby in the buggy or quickly in the car to do a basic week shop.... Sainsbros costs around ?60 a week.... but we aren't 'organised shoppers' and buy whatever when we need it so sometimes we don't go at all and sometimes it costs us over ?100... generally we buy blackbird bread as it's lovely and keeps, usually 2 loaves a week max perhaps we will become more organised in time :-)
  14. You get used to the noise after a while... But yes 4:30 is when I thought they started... Having a baby gives one the opportunity to observe early flights ;-)
  15. Hi all, prob not strictly family room discussion post but has anyone else opened up the two front reception rooms in a victorian terrace? How much did it cost? how long did it take? Was it really disruptive? Did you have to have a steel or can you get away without one if you leave enough of the wall?? Thanks!!
  16. We do lessons at Peckham pulse & love them. Used to do baby swimming but it is SOOOOOO expensive & actually we prefer the pool & changeing facilities at Peckham pulse We went to jelly babies fairly often there before we committed to any classes so we were both comfortable getting in the water etc before we signed up to a term or the cash
  17. hiya, my baby is 9m and has had a slight reaction to tomato a few times - localised blotches on his face where is comes into contact with his skin... sometimes it is not at all eg last night he had pasta with tomato sauce and he was fine but having the same for lunch today he is a little botchy Question is should I just avoid it alltogether or persist with it in small quantities? Thanks
  18. hi just resurecting this - does anyone know if you have to book the buggy onto an easyjet flight or if they assume you are taking one when you boon an infant? Thanks!
  19. Hmmm on an iPhone you can only see one column with the activity when in mobile view & upto term time column on desktop view

  24. I do remember our baby started waking randomly at around this time for no apparent reason & was quite hard to resettle. He had previously been a great sleeper so I think was the time we did some sleep training... But who knows if it would have passed naturally (or how long that would have taken) Co sleeping never worked for us, always made the little one wake more! I do remember trying a dummy & that worked for a while. I tried not to let the little one too dependant on milk to resettle at this stage which was hard at the time but in the long run is great... I have a 9mo who sleeps 12-13 hours solidly every night Good luck, it will pass... Take it easy in the day & I know it's annoying to say it but do sleep when they do. I always went to bed early to get the hours in & most days had the morning nap at the same time...
