  1. Wed or Friday works for us next week, any good for anyone else??
  2. Since baby F was about 4 weeks we have been giving him a bottle of EBM for his dream feed every night. This feed has been up & down, although it was initially very easy & baby f would drink a lot other times it has been more of a struggle for mr f... We went away for a few nights last week & I didn't bother taking the expressing machine & just BF for the dream feed, before then & since then this feed has become more & more of a struggle & it's now got to the stage where he takes say 30ml in 30 mins & cries loads refusing any more I then take him & BF & he is more than happy to eat so it is just the bottle he is refusing.... What can we do to get him to take it again? I need to be able to have a break from feeding all the time... Has anyone else come across this? I have a hen do in two weeks which I'm organising so I'm going to have to be able to leave him in the evening.... Eeek! Thanks
  3. Hi Ladies, it has been far too long since I've seen you all, who is about next week for a coffee? Does Tuesday am still work for most or is there a better time?
  4. I'm by no means any type of expert, having only one 10 week old who is a pretty crap sleeper but, he goes down at 7 every night, I do a bath routine etc then he feeds but he literally feeds for an hour (sometimes more!) and then he is sparko (until later!!) I found when I first started putting him down at 7 that when I thought 45 mins feeding was enough it clearly wasn't so I had to keep re-settling him. Totally impractical for you I know... Also when they wake before 7 what are you doing? Baby f woke at 6:30 this am & I treated it as a night feed, no speaking etc & then got him back down until 7:30... Don't know if that would work for you, do you ever have to re-settle 2yo at other times? Might be worth behaving in the same way, even if you have to keep doing it until his body clock is adjusted?
  5. Good idea but only problem with that is the Moses basket is too small for him to put his arms above his head... I may go to mothercare & get some bugger blankets so we can get him cozy in the cot 1st then tackle the swaddling another week!
  6. Ah she is so cute there! Yep C thrashes his head from side to side along with the arm flailing so not sure that would work but we could try something similar... When he wakes at night he goes straight back to sleep if I reswaddle him so would you just try & get him back another way or re swaddle...? I'm worried that could go on for a while! Thanks
  7. Hi Jenny, thanks, sorry, very sleep deprived today... just having a nap when a delivery arrived urgh! anyway I'm being a bit dim, did you wrap B in the blanket or put one on either side like prop things? I'm still swaddling for now but his arms are free pretty much as soon as I put him down then he has blankets on top of him... I've tried the sleeping bag but he was not having it at all...
  8. I may just buy a miracle blanket & deal with it later... ! He is ok for his naps with flappy arms it's just over night (when I want to sleep!) plus I had him in his cot rather than Moses basket for the first time last night, he had only done naps in the cot before, so perhaps he was getting used to his bed suddenly being so big! Urgh, I'm tired today though :-(
  9. Hi all, so baby F has been swaddled for all his sleeps since birth. He is now 10 weeks and still loves to be swaddled, and actually can't sleep for long periods without being swaddled (I'm up for the 4th time tonight, the 1st three times he just wanted to be re-swaddled!!) however, no matter how tightly he is swaddled he pulls his arms free as soon as he is put down... Which is fine for a bit but it's when they start flapping that he gets upset. So seeing as I can't continue getting up 4 times a night I need to wean him off the swaddle... Any advice please?
  10. Annoyingly I have to wait in for a shed delivery tomorrow (!) but I'm about next week for sure
  11. jennyh Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Ha - yes they will look cute, what about us > though!? Oh I hadn't thought!... What am I going to put my car crash of a post pregnancy body into... Reinforcements need!
  12. It took me three attempts at thinking about c 's routine before I worked out which time was best! Are you doing baby swimming? We are gOing for the 10am class in sept then too... Will be sooo cute seeing our two in swimming costumes :-)
  13. Depends on your routine but I'd say either the 10 or 11 would work better.... Then she will not have fed for a while & will be ready for lunch after, personally I'd opt for 10 so you are them ready to feed by 11... She probably won't nap quite so much then either, but similar to SB our morning nap is earlier at 9am, I'd have thought the 11am feed stays at that time & is more established than the nap no?
  14. The problem with using mummy as dummy is your baby with snack feed & will probably not get "full" meals & therefore not get to the hind milk which contains all the fats etc which your baby needs, the fore milk also has a lot of lactose in it & can upset your baby's tummy if that is all they get... Also your baby will naturally associate food with soothing/comfort The problem with a dummy is that they get reliant on it to soothe... But they can be very useful. Try having several different methods of soothing then your baby won't be reliant on any one thing in particular such as a dummy which can lead to problems... Good luck!
  15. having recently gone on maternity leave I can say wholehartedly we need a cleaner more now than before... like so many of you have said I'm at home much more now, making loads more mess with far less time 'to myself' (read 1.5 hours (in 30 min segments) a day when the baby naps solo) when I can get everything else, other than being a mum, done eg showering and eating!.... cleaning is my last priority.... and when the OH comes back from work he would and I would rather he spent is time with the baby rather than cleaning... How do you do it without one Fuchsia? So, do any of you lovely mums have a really good cleaner who wants some more hours (2/3 per week) that you would reccomend? I'd rather get a great cleaner first off as I don't have time for interviewing lots and seeing how they go etc.... any of you who have had someone for a few years?? thanks :-)
  16. This is wrong on so many levels....
  17. We dreamfeed baby f... I express in the morning then mr f gives him a bottle at 10:30ish, I'm usually tucked up in bed getting a head start as I'm the one up in the night, we tank baby f up, to be honest we have to wake him fully to get him to eat. But then he goes (usually) until about 4/5 before he wakes & has been known to sleep through till 6... If we don't dreamfeed him he wakes at around 1 (or probably earlier now he is in more of a routine) and then again during the night so the dreamfeed ensures he only wakes once and actually he can quite often ho without any food until 7, I've only fed him about 4 times during the past 3 weeks... Expressing takes me 10 mins & I do it whilst I'm doing the 7am feed when boobs are full to bursting so it's a nice releif!
  18. yep jollys on milsom street or the pump rooms could be a good bet
  19. Ah thanks for that Ruth... that might be the only way we get through it without totally disrupting everyone else!
  20. Hi, I'm very lucky and have got a place on the Ivydale baby massage class but it annoyingly sits right in the middle of baby f's feeding time... So I will need somewhere very close by to feed either before or after, or perhaps both.... depending on grumpy ness levels I will aim for after so I'm not rubbing his tummy when it's full but we might need to give him a little just to get him through. Or is there somewhere at Ivydale that would be ok to breast feed?
  21. Yep same here, I express in the am & mr f gives it to baby f @ 10 whilst I'm tucked up in bed... But once baby f is sleeping through we may share this as 11-7 is 8 hours so enough to get by on... I'd rather feed before I go to bed than be woken @ 4 am! Mr f sometimes comes to bed early & gets up at 10... Still nicer than 4am I'd think :-)
  22. Have you thought about giving her a dream feed / waking her at 10/11 for a feed so she has enough to keep her going until 7 without waking in the night... ?
  23. that's brilliant! just wait until you are 41 weeks + ..... & the twice daily 'how are you getting on's' start...! perfect!
  24. I'm up for it too, how big does the space need to be?
  25. Ah well done yak, yes something regular would be good, we could set up a regular time & then choose/nominate a different venue weekly so we don't get bored? Or is that too much hassle & would it be easier to have a regular haunt & we could vary it every now & then if we fancy? Ive not tried the electrical cafe either & want to & although it pains me to say it Lucas is quite convenient re space... But Green & blues is a favourite venue.... I've lost the ability to be able to make a decision so just tell me where & I'll be there! Enjoy the bank holiday x
