Oh forgot to say, we did this after buying a miracle swaddle & C managing to break free from it almost nightly, waking himself up getting cold... So in the end we had no choice, plus he is so into sucking his hands right now!
-
Quick update... We went cold turkey into the sleeping bag the night before last, C woke 4 times before 9pm but put himself back to sleep within 5-10 mins each time then he woke at 10:45 just as mr f was getting the dream feed ready, then again at 2 (when I picked him up & he had wind, possibly from the ferocious fist sucking) then at 5, which is when he often wakes for a feed. Last night was a vast improvement, he woke at 10:20 & had his dream feed then stirred a couple of times during the night (I presume but was sparko myself) & then woke at 5:45... Now we just need to work out how to sleep for more than 45 mins during the day!

16 week old baby - Can anyone recommend any good classes?
mrs f replied to corbella's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Jenny, what age do they say for tippie toes? I'm off on hols next week but may bring c the week after... He is starting to need to get out every day... Hanging about at home = bored baby! -
I am also a gina (light) follower, baby f has always been a crap napper, right from the start & the gina routine has really helped us (although he still can't manage to sleep by himself past that magic 45min period). So our day goes a bit like this, 7 ish up, 9ish nap 45 mins, 12 nap for 2hours usually in the buggy either at home being rocked (through light sleep phases whilst u try to eat!) or out, 4/4:20 nap for about 30 mins He cut down the afternoon nap himself & is going longer & longer without it at the min so I can see how this is the first to go, but we still need it now certainally. What time does the toddler nap? Can you try & co-ordinate this nap at the same time as this is the one the bubs will keep the longest? I found concentrating on getting the longer lunch nap really helped us, then the others can be short & sweet... I can only imagine how great it will be once we crack baby f sleeping solo, so it would be even more amazing for you with two!

It's so true, I've totally lost my sense of humour, mrf & I used to laugh & joke a lot, now we talk about how much sleep babyf has had that day. I've also lost all ability to talk about anything else other than babies (got to start reading the news rather than the forum whilst feeding!)

Pointless question of the day (for cat owners)
mrs f replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
When we were kids & had cats my dad trained them (although he did do this when they were kittens it was v effective even in cat old age) he put rolled up socks all over the house & whenever they did something wrong I'd climbing on kitchen table he would clap twice then throw the socks at them, after a while he needed only to clap. I don't remember them ever scavenging for food (despite his mean theory of never giving new (wet) food until they had finished the last, which would often go a little crispy (poor things!)after a day or two! ) -
The most useful thing I had was a squeezy water bottle to squib on me bits when going to the bathroom afterwards, used it for at least a week afterwards & it was great for saving the sting!

You are quite right silly woman, Sofie set up the club as a relaxed environment for mums & dads to hang out with the bubs. Everyone is welcome. It's from 2 pm Fridays at the mag.

Cervical sweeps; do they actually work???
mrs f replied to Ruth_Baldock's topic in The Family Room Discussion
i had three... the final one by Leonie Penna (consultant at kings) on the friday who informed me I wouldn't be back on Monday for induction as her sweeps are very thorough.... (plus I was very favourable and 3 cm dilated by then) she was right, I had the baby on Sunday! but by that stage I was 41+6 so who knows if it was the sweeps or any of the other things I did to induce the little one I didn't find them painful to be honest but I was probably lucky, but I did find them reassuring and helpful as I was informed of my progress from 1-2cm at the first and 2cm long etc.... I at least had a small gilmer of hope that I could avoid induction (which I did!) -
my booking appointment was the week after my 1st scan, so about 13 weeks

Best Driving route to Cornwall? Any tips welcomed :)
mrs f replied to vanthorne's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I've never been via the m25. Either south circular to kew or out of rush hour up to vauxhall then chiswick, this is the quickest route but out of hours only! It usually takes about an hour to get to the start of the m4. You should be ok getting down, leaving London is a pain & it's the only time I wished we lived in south west London, but it's worth it to be in Cornwall! My family are down there so we regularly make the trip & my mum is always up & down & the majority of time the journey is fine, I can only think of one time after Christmas where it was a total nightmare & that was the 303... So you would be seriously unlucky to have a nightmare journey. -

303 or the m4 even... Have done both & the m4 is often speedier but the 303 nicer but can get congested, especially around Stonehenge (but often only for rubber necking!) it's taken us about 6 or so hours before, sometimes longer... Please let us know how it goes, Im going down solo in a few weeks but think I'm going to take the train (still 5 hours!) -
Hi Em, yes frustrating & exhausting too, as I'm often in bed before the dream feed starts so then I get woken by either crying baby or a happy baby being brought in to me! Ok, I'll give him (us) a break tonight and then try different positions and bottles this weekend... Thanks everyone
-
Thanks HelloSailor, I'll get one of those later today and we can try at a daytime feed over the weekend perhaps.... I wouldn't mind SO much if he slept through the night but do want it for mr f, plus I need the option of going out at night as I have a couple of my best friends getting married & having hen do's in the next couple of months... Grrr, babies hey, just when you think you have something sorted!

we are using tommiee tippie closer to nature... any other reccomendations? Patient, more so than me! He has been trying to feed baby F for upto an hour each night (when he is himself exhaused from a new job & disrupted nights) when the little bugger has been getting less and less co-operative & often throwing up his food / point blank refusing.... I've tried to do it a couple of times with the bottle and given up pretty swiftly (I guess it's easier when you have an alternative) Mr F is very keen to do this feed as it will be the only real time he will spend with baby f during the week as he is in bed by the time Mr F comes home...

Sorry he is 11 weeks now Ok will try another feed... Problem is mr f can't do any other time as he is out :-(
