Hello everyone, Baby F has learnt to roll from his back onto his front which of course is clearly lovely. However, last night I heard him flapping about, just talking really (not crying) in his cot for ages, not going back to sleep, so I went to check on him... I found him at the top of the cot on his front.... he has never slept on his front and clearly didn't want to be there but was stuck! so I turned him over, moved him down and tucked him back in. He sleeps in a sleeping bag then we attempt to pin him down with a blanket. He also sleeps between those side positioner roll things that are supposed to stop him rolling over if he was on his side (he sleeps on his back so they are just for comfort really) When I got him up at 7 he was making noises already (not unusual for him to wake just before 7) and he was on his front again, this time it looks like he had rolled over the side positioner as he was at the bottom of the cot pressed against the side and the side positioner in the middle...! So, can I stop him rolling at night? I picture him rolling over every time he wakes a little then getting stuck and I'll have to get up and turn him over again.... which I really don't want to do! will this 'phase' pass & if so how quickly? and is there anything I can do to teach him how to roll the other way? thanks!

shall we say 11 on tues then... perhaps if it's lovely weather we might bring a picnic and hang out in the park for lunch time if anyone fancies it (or I'm organised enough!) or we could all head for the enclosed bit for toddler roaming (abourtoreum?) as baby f has learnt to roll and pretty much just wants to roll all the time now! Blackkat, I have a blondish bob with chubby 4 month old boy... dk grey/blue bugaboo chameleon.... I don't want to offend by describing anyone else, but needless to say we are all uber glam yummie mummies with perfectly advanced babies (& toddlers in the case of BB & SB)!!! and if you don't spot us we can always send Yak out to approach any lone female with a baby... !-)

perhaps try giving up the diary for a few days and see if that helps... ? I know a couple of forumites who gave up the dairy and it helped their little ones...

37 Bus Route - good and bad comments please
mrs f replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think everyone on here has echoed my thoughts, great route. I'd use it more if it was more reliable especially with a buggy, I one had to wait for three as all the buggy spaces were full... It puts me off going to Brixton, i wouldn't want to drive but the bus is so unreliable its painful. A speedy service would be amazing as we have lots of friends in Putney & it takes forever to get there (but amazing there is a direct bus!) also count down things would be great. -
Whinge free Monday - please tell my baby!
mrs f replied to mima08's topic in The Family Room Discussion
23-26 weeks is a big 'wonder week' so it's probably just you baby getting to grips with the big mental development they are going thrOugh... We are just getting through the 19 week one & agree lots of cuddles & attention are needed. They will pass through it soon enough :-) -
Ok I'm officially a slummy mummy! Whilst out with baby f I used a muslin to mop up some juice it them went in a nappy bad with washable naPpy... I then went away this weekend & so it sat festering on the kitchen floor in the bag... I went to wash it today & noticed it had mould on it, so I washed it with the nappies etc on 60 but the mould is still on it. I hung it in the sun all day but it's still there... So, is there anything I can do to get it out or has it bitten the dust? Thanks!

What is the teeny-tiniest stroller-type buggy available?
mrs f replied to Saffron's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Not he question you are asking I know but I've just got back from Cornwall on the train by myself (it certainally felt long distance!!) my tactic was to head for the disabled space & park the buggy (bugaboo chameleon with car seat) and sit next to it as those seats are always unreserved... I don't know if that's possible on your journey but I found it really useful as I was able to load up the buggy -
Sorry blue superted! I think you may well be right with cheaper shoes, for eg no doubt primark kids shoes (if they do them) would be scaled down adult versions (as they keep costs down by not spending on specific designers or proper development & technical staff (as well as cheap factories)) and therefore would be totally inadvisable for any child... It's those moments when you see little girls in high heels I really feel for them... Poor things could do serious damage to their feet :-( There is a lot of legislation as to what you can make for children's shoes but sadly none of it (as far as I'm aware) takes into account fit etc. It isn't well known how fragile (unformed) our feet are well into our late teens/early adulthood and so sadly damage is done :-(
-
Bluespurted you are right in that childrens feet do not have all of the same bones as adult feet, in fact our feet are not fully mature until we are about 18/19 years old and until then the bones are very soft and as Molly pointed out can be easily manipulated either for the better or the worse by our footwear. I studied footwear design & work in the world of shoes (including a stint at clarks kids dept) and from my 'professional' (if you can call it that!) point of view I would keep babies/toddlers/children bare footed as much as possible to enable their feet to grow & mature naturally... I would say though that most of the decent children's shoe brands (clarks, start rite etc) do have very good fitting & development behind their products and do understand the structure of the feet they are designing for... They are not really scaled down adult shoes...

I use a vanish stick on clothes but nothing apart from Eco washing powder on the nappies... Then I put them out in the sun to dry which bleaches out the stains & kills germs too...

Baby Bjorn BabySitter - worth the price?
mrs f replied to dullified's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My little one loves it... Although he does hang into the toy bar & try to sit more upright! It's lovely quality so will last for any siblings... I brought ours new but often see them on the forum for sale so would prob buy one 2nd hand if I were to get it now.. -
Help! Five month old wakes every 45 minutes
mrs f replied to KattyKit's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We are similar to Jenny in that baby f is actually worse if we go & settle him... Eg the other night random 2am wake up, usually I'd keave him but we had visitors & I didn't want to disturb them, que me up & down for the next 3 hours... The same happened the following night & he cried for 20 mins & went back to sleep for the rest of the night... We still find it hard to listen to but even going in to shhhsh pat or something similar just enrages/stimulates him further & prolongs the settling process. -
Help! Five month old wakes every 45 minutes
mrs f replied to KattyKit's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I have had to do some sleep training too with our little one, I have to say I'm a bit meaner than jennyh & just let baby f 'cry it out' as he started to wake frequently during the night & wouldn't re-settle. Within 3 nights he was sleeping through to at least 5 am for a feed them back down until 7... Sometimes sleeping through. It's not easy & they can cry for a long time initially but as long as you know they are fed, warm, comfortable etc then they will learn to settle themselves back to sleep... Sometimes baby f wakes in the night (usually around 2) but will go back to sleep within 20 mins... Good luck! -
got our very lively 6year old neice coming to stay, thought it might be a good way to wear her out for a few hours! she is quite small though... might chance it

Does anyone know if there is an age / height limit and know the opening hours for tomorrow?? thanks :-)

16 week old baby - Can anyone recommend any good classes?
mrs f replied to corbella's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yep fri at the mag is free, organised by Sofie Jacobs, a local midwife/dula who runs antinatal classes so she started it for her classes to go to, but it's open to all & super friendly, Jenny & I are both regulars... I'm also in the spring babies group so will no doubt meet you soon enough! I'm going to take my little one to baby swimming in Dulwich in September, for now we go to Peckham pulse for a little splash about. The horniman aquarium is also great, I went for the 1st time this week. I've heard sing & sign is brilliant so I'm waiting until c is 6 months (he is 13/14 weeks now) If Nathalie is the same one I did my class with she is super lovely & the classes are great, you will enjoy them! Forest hill is 10 mins on a bus btw...
