Very happy to add to the chorus of happy customers for Aston. He has carried out a number of jobs for me, most recently some work sorting out my wonky front door and fitting a new letterbox. He is always punctual, communicative and helpful. Really pleased with his work and happy to recommend him.

Thanks Sue. And, yes, I did mean the Grove/Harvester (not the Plough). Oops. -
Cox's Walk footbridge - latest edited
MiniViking replied to jazzer's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Haven?t done this walk for ages. Could someone please confirm whether the Cox?s Walk closure means that it?s not possible to walk through the woods from the Wood House pub in Sydenham down to the old Plough pub on Lordship Lane? Thanks -
Very pleased to add my recommendations to the ones above for Brian and his team. They did a superb job of repainting my kitchen and some exterior work. I'm extremely pleased with the quality of the finish and they worked very hard to ensure that they completed the work when they said they would. The levels of communication and reliability through the process were very high too. Brian also gave helpful advice on some aspects and the inevitable minor snagging was sorted out promptly and with zero fuss. Theirs wasn't the cheapest quote I received for the work, but I'm really pleased I chose to go with them.

Leaving aside the rights and wrongs for a moment(!), I had understood that the time periods of the restrictions was going to be reduced. If that's correct, does anyone have any information on when the reduced time periods are due to take effect please? Thanks.

Yet another very positive recommendation for Gerry. He came round promptly, figured out the problem and kept going with it until it was definitely solved. And an extremely personable guy too. Will call him out again in a flash if I have any other plumbing issues! His number is 07872 303925.

A big (but belated) thanks for the replies to this. Particularly the suggestion of contacting PALS who were hugely helpful. Thank you.

Does anyone know what is going on with the Opthalmology department at Kings? I've had an eye appointment first pushed back from February to July, and now at the last minute it has been delayed to December! No-one who I can get hold of by phone has any idea what is going on. I will go there in person as soon as I can to try and find out, but wondered if anyone knew...? Thanks

Another thumbs up from me too for Aston. He did a great job of helping me put up some really fiddly shelves. Would definitely recommend and will use him again myself.

Thanks

Does anyone know please whether it?s necessary to buy tickets in advance or whether they will be sold at the gate? Planning to go but a family thing might get in the way and probably won?t know until the last minute if can make it. Also, is there likely to be parking near the ground? Thanks.

Buildings insurance - subsidence
MiniViking replied to MiniViking's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks very much for the replies (and for the PM's that a few others have sent directly to me). Very kind and helpful to have taken the time to reply. I'm still working on it but the thoughts have been useful. -
I'm aware that a number of properties in our area have historically suffered from subsidence in one form or another, and so hoped someone might have any useful thoughts on where to obtain buildings (and contents) insurance? My house had an issue a number of years ago and unfortunately my current insurers have written to me to say that the insurer which they used is no longer on their panel and they have not been able to obtain alternative cover so my house is uninsured in a few weeks...! Thanks very much for any pointers. (I have seen a separate thread on here about using Aviva - that seemed to be focussed on contents only, rather than buildings insurance, but I will give them a try anyway)

If this mast gets built, will it benefit users of all of the mobile networks (O2, EE etc) or only a limited number of them? Also, does anyone know what the likely range will be that it benefits? The map that Villager posted shows a black hole and it would be helpful to know whether this new mast (if built) will fill that hole or only part of it? It may be that it will, but the further away the user is the less the potential benefit in improved signal? It will clearly be an eyesore, but in weighing that up against the potential benefit, it would be helpful to understand what the potential benefit actually is.

I know that there has been a few threads on the fun and games at London Bridge at the moment, but I have been trying to find out information on when (if ever...!) this is likely to improve and haven't been able to get very far. Does anyone know if there are any specific dates/milestones coming up over the next few months/years as a result of which we are likely to see an improvement (such as the reinstatement of some of the platforms perhaps). Or is there no particular prospect of significant improvement until the works are complete in 2018? And, dare I even say it, is there even a realistic expectation that when the works are complete in 2018 things will be better than now (or better than before the redevelopment started)? I'm not trying to start another thread of venting frustrations about the works (totally understandable though that is!). But instead was hoping to see if anyone has any specific insight about specific dates/milestones and their likely impact. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be very interested in hearing any informed opinions about this. Thanks

I saw there was lots of helpful advice on the thread about kitchens, so I thought I would try my luck in relation to gardens in the hope that are equally mums out there who have done some work on their gardens. We are looking to re-do our very tired and messy garden so that it is in good shape for the Spring/Summer. It is a small garden and we're looking to remove all of the current nasty shrubs etc and replace them with more attractive and appropriate ones, and returf the lawn. We are not looking for a very obviously "designed" or formal garden, but do need someone who knows what they are doing in terms of recommending what to plant and when etc, and generally give the garden a bit of love and attention. We would be very grateful for any recommendations or guidance. Thanks!
