Hello, About 10 mins ago (22.20ish), there was two huge bangs coming from either Oakhurst Grove or Tyrell Road. (I am in my bedroom, and couldn't work out the exact direction of the noise). I got a terrible fright and thought they were gunshots at first, but as I don't hear any sirens or indeed screaming, I am guessing that thankfully I was wrong. Did anyone hear it? Am I going mad? Can anyone tell me what it actually was? Ta!

Hello! Lordship Lane is closed off around the Harvester pub at the Forest Hill end of Lordship Lane. Loads of police and tape. Doesn't look like an accident though. Does anybody know what happened? Anyway, if you are driving from or to Forest Hill, avoid that part of Lordship Lane, as you will be diverted to Dulwich Village or towards Honor Oak Park.

Youths selling overpriced dishcloths door-to-door

I had one around the other day. He said they were raising money for something to do with kids, and I said I already do enough for kids, being a teacher. He didn't argue with that one, just said goodbye. Have I gotten off lightly? :D -
I've never really noticed it until recently (since the planes restarted after the ash cloud carry on). It does seem a little nosier in last week or two, but overall does not seem any nosier than any other area in London I've lived in.

Recylcing - what should we have (Ferris Road)

Is this Abi I live with? You know there is a big brown garden waste bin in the front garden? :D (I'd tell you that to your face, but this is much funnier, hehehehe) PS. You are right about the wee boxes though, I haven't a clue what goes in which... -
I have had a lesson with Southwark for cycling. It's one on one, and one lesson lasts about 2 hours. Amazing for free! First lesson is mostly basics (although did end showing me how to go right through a junction) but you can book more lessons (also free) to practice more advanced things like roundabouts and bigger junctions. I found it brilliant. As I don't drive, sometimes I am not sure what to do in lanes etc, but the lady who taught me was brilliant!

That's not far away from the end of Barry Road that someone said someone chased him for his bike recently. I wonder if it is the same person? Seems to be a lot of muggings and bike thefts down that end at the moment! :(

Don't cycle down Surrey Canal! It's not the safest place to be cycling, seriously. There is no proper lighting, and lots of incidents happen along there according to the bike forums my boyfriend goes on (ditto Burgess Park).

They are in tonight, can hear them, but much much much quieter. Maybe despite the tantrum they have calmed down a bit? *crosses fingers, toes and eyes*

Yeah, I think I might move if it continues, but I paid an ?800 deposit, and I doubt I'd get anybody else to fork out that much. But I guess I might have to write off a couple of hundred quid to get some peace...

Schools on the 363 (route, Crystal Palace direction)?

What's the school after Forest Hill station when you are on the 197/176? That is an all girl's school, I was thinking of that one. -

Maybe Forest Hill school? Or Kingsdale? -
Getting home (to East Dulwich) via Peckham nightmare... (26th Feb)

Oh dear. :( -
I knocked around and asked politely (through gritted teeth admittedly) if they could keep it down last night. They had been debating the bible for quite some time, and it had gotten to 10.15 with no sign of stopping. I'm a teacher, and I have to get up v early, so that's pretty much my bedtime! Did it work? No. They got louder, mostly shouting about me, from what I could hear through the wall. I had to sleep in the spare room, and get my boyfriend over, as one in particular sounded so angry I thought he was going to kick my door in. I was bloody terrified. *Sighs* *Goes on Gumtree*

I might do that tomorrow. Although they are shouting their heads off, but maybe I can write the note in such a way that I am letting them know that their extremely personal business can be heard word for word next door.
-
Urgh, he is at it again in terms of noise. From what I can hear (I don't have a choice in the matter), he is angry because he wants another kid and she doesn't, and he is sensitive about his father. Jesus Christ, shut up, I have jet lag! *Puts pillow over own head and cries quietly*

It's great to see kids cycling around the park and getting exercise, but a lot of them don't look where they are going at all. I agree, the parents need to pay more attention and give out to their kids if they are being silly. I was cycling through last Saturday, and kids were veering in front on me, and I saw many people have to jump out of the way of certain children's paths. The park is for everyone, so a little bit of consideration wouldn't go amiss. Also, you can bet if one of their little darlings gets kicked in the face by someone tripping over their low bike, or crashes into a full size bike, the parents will scream blue bloody murder...

Any news on those SelectaDNA kits being ordered in yet? They sound really good. Thanks! Cmck

Just off it, on Ferris Road.

The letter seems to have worked, no noise since, and no odd screaming. Phew!

I think he may be on something "funny" rather than ill, but that is still a worry as well. We put a note through his door earlier when he didn't answer the door. It was polite, but still worried that it might make him angry and worse... "God Ted I've never met anyone like him anyway. Who would he be like? Hitler or one of those mad fellas?" "Oh worse than Hitler. You wouldn't find Hitler playing jungle music at 3 o'clock in the morning."

One of my neighbours just off Tyrell road listens to music really loud most evenings. He tends to turn it off around 10, but it means me and my housemates cannot relax in the evening. The thing is, he is on his own, and screams and shouts at no one in particular. He sounds quite scary, so we are not sure what to do. Should we ring the council or will this make things worse? I don't want a wierd neighbour being p1ssed off with us, as there is only girls living in the house. It's like the episode of Father Ted, when Father Jack gets shipped off to "Jurassic Park" and Father Fintan Stack moves in. You known the bit where he is listening to Drum and Bass and then just randomly starts screaming and bellowing? That's what next door sounds like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSlEgrM9UdU What should we do? Have any of you ever had to ring the council about noisy neighbours? How did it turn out? (PS. We rang the doorbell to ask him politely to turn it down, but funnily enough, he couldn't hear the bell and didn't come down.)
