Not if you are talking about AIRCRAFT NOISE which if you look carefully is the subject of this thread. I think I'll wear your tail as tie!
-
So not nonsense at all then - bit quick off the mark there Foxy.
-
Agreed - they do seem to be flying lower or at least more overhead as the noise is a lot louder than normal. Action Group time?

Dulwich & W Norwood MP's response to referendum result
flyer22 replied to worldwiser's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Zebedee Tring - sad thing is I don't think there is any such prohibitory legislation (I couldn't immediately find it either) but I would be surprised if common law/admin law principles (natural justice / wednesbury unreasonableness) could allow such a result to be maintained in the circumstances. Definitely worth getting Counsel's opinion - Geoffrey Robertson would do nicely. I just wish that the petition set up on the gov website had been on this basis not the basis of the appropriate threshold because that's clearly a non-starter especially when it was set up by a Leaver! -

Helen As a lawyer, I think there's a credible case for a second referendum on the basis of intentionally misleading assertions that were part of the Leave campaign that could not be made under the CAP Code by advertisers about their products or services. In matters as important as elections/referendums as a bare minimum the same standards of legal, truth, decent and honest should apply to campaign statements. It may not change the overall result but at least we could be confident that decisions were taken on the basis of honesty as you say. I think we need to start with the Electoral Commission being called before a Select Committee. Thanks for posting your points. Flyer -
Beware when walking and texting on your mobile

Did you report this? There's actually quite a lot of CCTV in the area both public and private that might help the police catch these guys but they need to get to it quickly. -
Good on you Bil! I don't think you could have done better other than to have picked up the offending parcel and placed it in her coat pocket so she could take it with her. It might at least have kept one of her hands warm for the journey home. #pickituporwearithome

Thanks JohnL I like your approach. If it is someone genuine they'll leave a voicemail right

Thanks Penguin68. Fingers crossed indeed that it was just a coincidence. Re coming in on the mobile, I suspect if I'd stayed on the call they'd have asked me to download some sort of application to my computer to give them access. At least that's how other people seem to have been scammed according to a few blog postings I've just read. To be honest they blew it with the visible number from Australia. I was suspicious from the start. Had they come through on a number withheld, I'd have been less sure it was a scam and more curious. Also that number is now blown for them as I've reported it all over the web. My policy on these unsolicited calls whether it's a bank, a utility company or whatever, is to just tell them I'll call them back and then find the correct number myself and call them.

Hi all I had a suspected scam call on my mobile today. Caller gave no name and didn't know mine but claimed to be from Dell and said they'd been monitoring our computer for a month and there were errors that needed fixing and they would go into our computer and show us how to fix them. Mobile number displayed was for Australia +61 243 691 369. When Dell have called me (because I called them first) they normally call on a withheld number. Anyway I explained to the very enthusiastic lady that I was concerned about computer scams and would contact Dell myself to see if there was an issue. I have and there isn't. I've reported the scam to Dell here http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/topics/survey.aspx/ss?ssid=fm8lnRnnMOE~&dgc=SM&cid=279852&lid=5635328. Bit concerned as to how the scammers know my mobile and that we have a Dell computer. Either my email is less secure than I thought or Dell have a problem they haven't mentioned. Anyways, don't fall for this one All the best Flyer

Spot on Solar thanks - meant 197. Took 363 to crystal palace and 197 back. Now updated! Thanks again

Something really does need to be done about this. We were on a 197 that absolutely bombed down Barry Rd last night so much so that I couldn't get my phone out in time to record what the speed was. The attached screenshot is from just after we turned out onto Peckham Rye (still a 20mph). It was actually pretty scary as at night with cars parked on both sides the road, exits/entrances obscured, there's virtually nowhere to go in the event of a problem. But it's not just buses or Barry Road - Peckham Rye turns into a race track in the late evenings with cars and bikes doing ridiculous speeds up and own it. Very surprised Southwark/Metropolitan Police/Council aren't already all over this as there's some good enforcement money to be made here! @jamesbarber can you raise or tell us who to contact at Southwark, TFL, the bus companies and the Met to get this looked at. There are already some good suggestions above as to how to deal with it. Near where my folks live they have a local monitoring group with a speed gun that takes the number plates of speeding cars. As I understand it, two contraventions and you get a letter from the DVLA (not sure if it's accompanied by a fine or not - I'll see if I can find out). Either way let's not wait until bunches of flowers appear at the side of the road.
