  1. I'll start a new thread to emphasise this is now a formal proposal
  2. As others have mentioned, the consultation period is now open. In the link it says that the consultation expires on 10 March. http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk:8190/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=dates&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9558549
  3. rahrahrah - I assume your question about pricing for 'an average salary' is rhetorical! The 'garden centre' plans dodged the social housing requirement by including the library. steveo - Yes, I'm not sure where all those jolly people are boulevarding to and from. And is that a bus that's taken a wrong turn? abeattie - I guess we'll know about the consultation period once the official letters have been sent out. I'll post something on here as soon as we know.

  5. Just as I was hoping that it was all a bad dream: the plans are now in on the Southwark Planning website: http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk/documents/?casereference=15/AP/0192&system=DC I'm somewhat biased, as it's sure to lead to yet more years of uncertainty and worry for us, but for what it's worth, I think it's bloody hideous and an insult to the Council and community. Check out the North Elevation, we seem to be fading on that one. Also, I'm pretty sure that the former Garden Centre development has got taller on that one.
  6. Blackcurrant - You are right that the Garden Centre redevelopment (which includes the partial demolition of the ED station building) has had plans in place for around ten years. This is a new proposal to build on the other side of Railway Rise, but the plans haven't been posted yet.
  7. Local hearsay suggests the builders pulled out, possibly with some of the investors. There were problems demolishing the Victorian station waiting room which was part of the garden centre (to the left of the entrance). This is quite delicate and tricky and might require closing the station - which Network Rail don't want to do. Strange they didn't think about that in the nine years they've been planning this ... I've also hear the work will start 'in a couple of weeks'. Hmm.
  8. I'm pretty mystified. We had a letter back on 19 January, saying we had 21 days to make representations. After querying this, we got the planning application number 15/AP/0192, but that's still not up on the Southwark site. Still waiting for a reply to my follow up email about this. I'll continue to follow up and will post anything I discover.
  9. Ours was pretty bad last night
  10. James - Thank you. I'll keep you posted if I hear anything worldwiser - I have only the reference above, which came by letter. I'm chasing this up with Southwark and the developer's representatives. ernesto - Yes they are bog standard railway cottages, because they were (sturdily) constructed for the workers. They were built in 1866 and pre-date most of the surroundings. However, English Heritage did agree with you, in principle, and said they didn't merit listing (along with the station). Interestingly North Dulwich Station is listed. East Dulwich has very few listed buildings. nxjen - The 'bay-windowed terraces' may (or may not) be boring. These don't have bay windows. (See above) The property developer owns two of the three cottages. ironjawcannon - From hearsay, I think that land further up may be for sale and would be a huge site.
  11. In an earlier thread people were asking about the plans for the land by East Dulwich Station where the old Garden Centre was. Things have now moved on to the next stage, with an application to demolish two of the Victorian Railway Cottages opposite: APPLICATION FOR FULL PLANNING PERMISSION Application number: 15/AP/0192 Address: 2-3 RAILWAY RISE, LONDON, SE22 8EE Proposal: Demolition and redevelopment of 2&3 Railway Rise to create 135 sqm of ground floor commercial space (use classes A1, A2, A3 and B1(a)) together with 5x2 bed residential units across three upper storeys above (1st, 2nd & 3rd), together with associated amenity, waste, recycling, cycle storage and other facilities.
  12. BTW, the plan shown earlier is a reduction on the original plans which had an extra storey. "That beautiful little row of rail workers cottages ... " - Next in line for demolition
  13. I think the issue is that they intend to knock down half the railway building, the bit which is rendered and painted at present. That needs to be done carefully and I can't see them doing it while the station is in use.
  14. Yes, the Garden Centre owned the place and sold up. It is a shame that the building could be being used, e.g. by the art gallery that was there last year.
  15. Looks like this has stalled yet again - the builders have pulled out and taken down all the signage. Seems there was a difficulty with the demolition of the station - pretty obvious really. It would be nice to think this would mean the station building (1866?) could be saved, but I guess it's standing in the way of progress.
