  1. I intend to open up a cupcake style bakery along LL sometime in the future, after i've won the next series of the great british bake off.
  2. Well I'm going along tomorrow to the lunch club and I'm dragging along a work mate too, so there will be at least 2 men there.
  3. when I lived in ED (I moved to Bromley for my sins :() I saw the lady who plays Shirley in Eastenders.
  4. Aren't rabbits used in the pet food industry? I'm sure I've given my cats rabbit meat from tines before now. Again I'd imagine it's a cheap source of meat, and the skins could be a sideline for the manufacturers.

Absolutely, rabbit was very popular in the wartime, where it was caught and eaten with no problem, due it's classification as vermin. I remember growing up and my dad and brother going rabbiting and bringing them back for dinner.
  6. This is sprung from the sale of a rabbit skin coat, which divided the board and the Admin were kept busy deleting inappropriate posts. Here's my view, I'm glad this has sold and someone is enjoying the beauty of it. Rabbit fur is one type of fur we shouldn't be sniffy about. It makes me wonder if people who worry about wearing rabbit skin, worry about wearing cow skin or sitting on cow skin? The argument that leather is a by product of the meat industry doesn't stand. In that rabbits are considered a source of food, at least I hope that's why a brace hung in the butchers back home. If we don't eat them, they are used for pet food too. So why should their skins go to waste?
  7. I hope you find her, i know what it's like to loose terriers. Sadly people think it's fun to dognap them for various things. Informing the police may help?
  8. 176 not running from camberwell to penge, trains not running until 10 am then a limited service...
  9. hate talk talk for this, had a similar experience and ended up having to go through a lot of hassle to not change over to talk talk. very frustrating.
  10. This time it's a different cat and unlike the black one which has owners and is being looked after just fine, this one is new to the area (Hayes Grove) and sits outside of the crescent of town houses mewing all night long to be let inside. now I know they have fur coats and all but common, this is unfair. Does anyone know who's cat it is? it's a spotted grey cat, very beautiful, once again if I was allowed pets I'd have taken it inside.
  11. it would make sense also that in a charity shop people have cash so more likely that pickpocketing will be successful. I was in the hospice when someones wallet was taken from their buggy.
  12. The lay out now is a bit better, but the atmosphere hasn't changed in my opinion. second hand abercrombie teeshirt was 6.99, and they charge about 45 brand new so some bargins still to be had.
  13. Ed is good for mens clothes if you like to pay through the nose for them.
  14. to be honest, the weight and clumping nature of the bikes wouldn't be very appealing to cycle up dog kennel hill from here.
  15. There are tonnes of crab apples in the park by Sainsbury's. I collected a horde last year but didn't have a suitable pan to make jelly with them, I'm looking to do that this year now I have the pan, so please leave some :P.
  16. How long does a species have to be in the country to be considered native? Humans were once and invasive species to the land. Starlings in birmingham are a beauty to behold, considering their populations are dwindling in other parts of the country. Green parakeets aren't going to go away over night, and yes they were a 'released' species. but you know what, that's part and parcel of the way things are. Let them be, they are beautiful to behold, and who are we to say what can and can not live in britain.
  17. Well I've just spoken to the lady who used to feed him, she found out who the owner is (A Hayes Grove resident) and now doesn't feed him any longer. He's still as friendly as ever, I'm just glad to know he has an owner. Has anyone read six dinner Sid? It's a children's picture book about a cat who gets fed by everyone on the street, and because they don't talk to each other no one knows who owns it. The vet figures it out in the end as he recognises Sid after several trips to the vets.
  18. well if he is owned by someone here that's great! good to hear, but he's playing the lady who feeds him everyday :D
  19. yeah, I've seen him up the tree, and have heard he doesn't take to dogs very well... he is so friendly otherwise though.
  20. hello all, for about a month now, at least there has been a stray, black cat in Hayes Grove. He (I assume it's a he) is lovely, very friendly and always says hello to passers by. A kind lady puts food down for him each evening, and were I allowed pets in the flat I'd have taken him in as he is so lovely. Before I contact Celia Hammond for advice, I thought I'd put a note on here. it's likely there is an owner somewhere who is missing him, I think he's wandered over here from somewhere and doesn't know the way back. He did have a blue collar but that's been taken off him recently. he has a few white hairs on his head, so he's no young kitten. If anyone has any information I would be grateful. Many thanks Ellwood.
  21. i used to work for scummyfield/co-op and xmas reduced to clear starts around midday xmas eve.
  22. completely agree, the only mens clothes are in white stuff and that place down Northcross road where you need to donate a kidney to buy a teeshirt.
  23. anyone privy to what happened to the fence across the road from ED station? it's been hit very hard it would seem as the main fence post is split in two. I got home at around midnight saturday night and it was fine, 7.30 sunday morning it was looking like that, so it happened in the wee small hours.
  24. I've not tried all the japanese restaurants in london, but having lived there for 3 years i have quite a snobbish attitude to eating Japanese food, the best place I've found is down Brewers street, Ten Ten Tei. authentic feeling to the place and authentic food too! am keen to try more.
  25. you're never further than 4 feet away from a rat in a city so i heard.
