  1. Our state primary did zoom lessons for the kids every day pre Christmas during a two week isolation. There were a lot of kids on the calls but it worked pretty well. So it is allowed and possible!
  2. Hi - I am expecting my second in late feb. My first will be coming up to 3 by then. Would love to join the meet-up. will send number via pm for whatsapp group. Thanks!
  3. Hi, We are looking at moving out of east dulwich to get s little more space and bigger garden. We like a property in west dulwich and the nearest school would be elm wood. Is anyone able to share their views of the school? I know it is Ofsted outstanding which is a great start but doesn't really give me a sense of what it's actually like. They won't offer me a tour and the open days aren't until closer to the end of the year which is too late for this decision. Any views, in particular thoughts from parents who have kids there would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  4. I had the same problem with my little one and I came to conclusion that the only thing that works is time. I tried everything I could think of and nothing worked. I was desperate because was getting married and in the end my daughter and my husband came on my hen do and I breast fed on my wedding day!!! And then at about 5 months old for no reason she just started taking it. A friend of mine's daughter took 7 months before she would. Probably not the answer you are looking for but it can take a lot of energy and stress trying to force the issue, especially if you've set yourself a deadline. I never really managed to play hardball though - just too upsetting watching your little cry.
  5. We just had a lovely weekend in Alfriston in East Sussex, less than 2 hours drive. Really pretty village with nice pubs, good short walks along the river, Middle Farm which was great for petting animals and jumping about in hay, there's also drusilla's zoo. We stayed in a lovely airbnb - we were a large group but sure there must be smaller options too
  6. I called Aria to look at our leaking downstairs toilet off the back of these recommendations. He and his brother came round very quickly, took a look and said because it was a concealed cistern it would be a big job and all the tiles/casing would have to come down. He quoted me ?750 for the job, which not surprisingly was a bit of a shock. I got another plumber round for a second opinion and he fixed the leak for me within the hour and charged me ?30. I don't know if this was a genuine mistake from Aria but just goes to show it's always worth getting a second opinion. It saved me a lot of mess, money and hassle.
  7. We booked our holiday through totstotravel. All properties are family friendly and they provide you everything you need, cots, toys, high chairs etc. They had a lot of nice places - may well be booked up now but you never know.
  8. Hahaha, seems like it'll only cost ?16 to post so we have a solution :)
  9. It's a long shot but wondering if anyone is heading to Hannover? My brother from Australia has just gone to Heathrow this afternoon to fly to Hannover and has just realised he left his coat at our house! I will find out how much it costs to post but thought I would put the question out there on the off chance anyone could take it!
  10. I went to see cherry tree Montessori on lacon road the other day and they had spaces. There seem to be some negative reviews about it on the forum but it seemed nice to me. They seemed very friendly.
  11. have PM'd you - if its still available I'd love it!
  12. Bonfire2020 - if you have any other questions let me know. It's been a while since I lived in that area because I moved to Neutral Bay but one of my best friends is a kindy teacher at Ravenswood (in Gordon). Happy to ask her which state schools she would say are best or anything else you are wondering about. You'll love it - such a great place to live with a young family! Good luck!
  13. I grew up and went to school in Sydney. We lived in Turramurra which is on the North Shore. It would be easy commute to Maquarie Park and the trainline would also take you straight into the CBD. There are lots of nice suburbs along the North Shore line - Pymble, Lindfield, Roseville. Nice leafy suburbs. Perhaps not quite the same village feel as East Dulwich but in my opinion you don't get that so much in Australia. Don't know how old your kids are but for me and my brother it was great - all our friends lived just a stop or two along that line. Lots of school options. Not very close to a beach but we had a pool so that never really bothered us :)
  14. I'd love to come on the 18 February too. First timer due end of April. So excited!
  15. we've just found the original pot and discovered its a Hebe. But we've watered it loads and it had all the recent rain. Fingers crossed it perks up a bit!
  16. I bought a plant at B&Q the other day and within a day it is in terrible shape! I lost the tag so I don't know what kind it is to look-up how to look after it. Can anyone help me identify it from the picture attached!? Or give me advice on how to bring it back to life? It looked so healthy when I bought it and now it's so droopy and sad looking! Thanks!
