Suitable for 3/4 year old. Good quality bike made of aluminium. Only very lightly used in summer, not used for long and in very good condition, as at that age they outgrow the bicycle very quickly. Bought from Balfes Bikes and last on sale for 154.99. Can drop off if required. If you are interested please message me or drop me a message on 07939231999. Thanks Michael

Apologies as this must be a recurring question, but I cant find a recent thread. I am under the impression that 10 pounds net is standard for someone with a few years experience and qualifications, and say a 35 hour week. Someone we interviewed wanted 12 but as she has only ever worked in nurseries I am not sure it was understood the difference between gross and net and what would actually be in the wage packet, but am concerned I might be out of touch. Many thanks for your views.

We had to live somewhere for a year with a temporary kitchen lashed up and bought a two ring baby Belling Stove. This could be plugged into a wall socket without expensive electric cabling to the fuse box. Its surprising what you get used to, and two rings and a small oven is perfectly adequate for most purposes.

I would not pay it, its not a ticket from the council which has legal force. Its a private company claiming breach of contract and they would have to take you to court to prove it. I think the standard advice is to write to them with a cheque for a tenner to cover their admin costs and leave it at that, though I wouldnt even go that far. I have had similar fines in the past, due to minor breaches, eg. wheel over a line, and it is not pursued. Terrible mobile signal - Adys Road
Mgdoble replied to whitney22's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I used to live on Keston Road and used T-mobile which is EE and had to stand outside to make phone calls. I am not sure anything can be done about it immediately as it was (and I imagine still is) a network coverage problem. Basically the nearest transmitters are on Rye Lane and the one above the Co-op on Lordship Lane. So this area is in a dead spot. There was some talk 6 or 7 years ago about a company renting the spire of Goose Green church but it didn't go down too well and would have been beaming directly into the school. I just got used to it in the end. -
Best nurseries for an almost 2 y/o.
Mgdoble replied to Ruth_Baldock's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Again, I called little Jungle and they said they had nothing until the new year (which is a bit annoying as its only about 20 metres from my front door). I think its less a question of the 'best nurseries' than finding one that okay and definitely has places, is anyone aware of such a place? -

I've just phoned Townsend Montessori myself and was told to call back in late June as they are over-subscribed and werent considering taking anyone else until then. -

Peckham Rye 1 'O' clock club shutdown
Mgdoble replied to Mgdoble's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I assumed this was the case, the playground is definitely out of action, I went past at the weekend and given the quantity of materials and barriers in front of the hut it looked like it should be closed, happy to hear if its open. -
This may be common knowledge but we have been away for a while. Can anyone let me know what is happening to the Peckham Rye clubroom and the playground outside. They appear to be in the process of being redeveloped, what is going to be in their place, is it going to re-open, are there any temporary facilities available elsewhere? If not are there any similar one 'O' clock clubs in the area? Cheers Michael

Are Foxtons actually selling houses in ED?
Mgdoble replied to MrsP's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've just reread MrsPs initial message, Foxtons commission of 2.5% (+vat) is outrageous. A well known and effective looking (judging by the number of sold signs) estate agent on Lordship Lane recently quoted me 1.5% for sole agency and 2% for joint. -

I live on Keston road and a a house Foxtons is selling has just gone under offer, but only after correcting for some gross initial over-pricing. The price started off at 620k dropped to 600, and a few weeks ago to 550, so I imagine the final offer must be lower thsn this. -
Binatone is right, they must have taken down the Macon Court sign when No. 42 was refurbished.

Great thanks, I will make them a visit. A google search doesn't bring up any information so grateful for the telephone number. Michael

Apologies for starting a thread on what must be a frequently discussed topic, but most of the nurseries flagged up are either for two years old onwards, or have long waiting lists. The only nurseries I coud find that take a wide age range are Bright Horizons and Peckham Rye day nursery and they have waiting lists of 1 year/September. Its beginning to become clear that there is a shortage of places, but that probably not news to anyone here. Are there any nurseries in Peckham/East Dulwich that are taking babies (13 months in our case) now, without a waiting list? Thanks Michael

We have to consider sending our 13 month baby boy to nursery in a couple of months. I'm going to have a look round at Ruskin House and wondered if anyone has any experience of this nursery. Apparently it changed management in April, the web-site information is now a bit sketchy so any comments needs to be about how the nurery is working at this moment. Thanks Michael

Apolgies for taking us off-topic, got a bit fired up there :-$.......

Only at the EDs, we Peckhamites need to stick together and discuss Peckham things, and let them know that they can't keep us out of their forum!
-
I'd start a Peckham forum but then all the effing East Dulwichites would gate-crash it!

Is there any decent coffee in East Dulwich?
Mgdoble replied to Clare11's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I recently had the worst cappucino I've had in a long time at Green and Blue, so no, not 'the best coffee on Lordship Lane' as claimed. For me, bizarrely, the best cappucino in the local area can be had in the Palmerston, its always a good flavoursome strength, though keep meaning to find what brand it is, quality of foam is variable depending upon who makes it.
