  3. Just to update, my original query was with regards to the DYL being extended. I was concerned about this as if it were to be repeated on other junctions there would be significant loss of parking spaces. (Something which other posters have suggested, and I alluded to, was that it might be the councils intention in order to create demand for a CPZ!) It does now appear that this DYL is for the installation of a bike hanger.
  4. Can anyone shed any light on what may have happened here please? See attached photo, a side road nearby had had the double yellow line mysteriously extended. You can just about see the where the previous DYL ended by the hash mark ending, and it has now been extended by a good 3 meters or so. The perpendicular corner of the same junction hasn't been extended, neither has the parallel opposite side of the same road. If all the junctions were to be extended by this amount it would add up to a significant loss of parking spaces. Perhaps that is the tactic? ..... but I didn't think this could happen with consultation or notice?
  5. I got a similar response by email “…thank you for sharing your concerns with us. As mentioned, any tree work on site would have been carried out by the council’s Arboriculture team. I do not have any details on the arrangements that were made, I’m afraid. Your comments have been logged and will be taken into account by the events team. “ I’m sorry but this utter bullsh*t As Fishboy states they’ve only done it because of the festival and I can’t see any other scenario than the Arborists being instructed to do it by the GALA team.. It’s a complete travesty, the park has some truly magnificent tress and this is one of them This has to be taken further

  7. I will be complaining too. There is a thread on twitter regarding more pollarding by Southwark in Bermondsey, and there is a video of them pollarding a tree with a live nest! According to the Twitter thread, as a result Southwark have confirmed that ALL Pollarding will cease until November. I really don't understand why pollarding needs to occur in (late) Spring... surely it should only happen from late Autumn to Winter anyway? Is this just rogue contractors generating revenue by insisting it needs doing?
  8. We had our car broken into last week, Tyrrell Road Car cleaned out, nothing of value, but took everything including a charity donation box of clothes!! We have a 'keyless entry' car, so am fully ware of the security issues with this. Am thinking of getting a steering wheel lock We simply assumed that following the theft we'd stupidly left the car unlocked for the night I guessed that if they'd had a reading of the keyless code that they'd have just stolen the car.... am i wrong??? if we didn't leave the car unlocked, how did they get in and why wouldn't they have stolen the car??? Incidentally i hate the keyless feature, i have no idea what problem it is trying to solve.... It just creates a security problem

I was contacted a few days ago about a suspiciois transaction on my account, only ?7 but again to Streamline Authorisation. The bank halted the transaction and their security seems to work, but cancelled my card and new one is on its way. My shortlist of potential places it was scanned was the Hindmans/Uplands Store and Barrys cashpoint!!
  10. This is ridiculous. There is a sign at the library saying HGVs should not go down Barry Rd, and to divert via Lordship Lane. But once they are going down Barry rd, the diversion is signed to go down Tyrrell, then Oakhurst, Kelmore and Gardens.

  12. Back in July, I had a letter through the door about a drop-in session which was going to occur while i was on holiday to inform residents of the upcoming work. It referred to Barry Road and Friern Road, with both being rather long roads i didn't really think much of it. We received a further letter just last week vaguely outlining the details. It is going to be 5 months of hell for anyone living near the bottom (north) end of Barry Road. I called Thames Water for more details as i missed the drop in session, asking for what would have been displayed at the session, they were unable to provide it and the chap said "a little clue for the future, anytime there is a drop-in session it is going to be a big job" !!! It is basically 5 months of various different lane closures on Peckham Rye and Barry Road between the Clockhouse and Upland Road (Barrys Store), working on a 230m section of sewer pipe. The Northbound end of Barry Road is now closed to traffic.
  13. Response from TFL "Thanks for you detailed email of 13 June about the changes bus route 12. I?m sorry for all the inconvenience caused by the overcrowding during peak time rush hour. I understand why you would be frustrated by reducing the frequency of buses operating on this route. However, changes are made according to demand. I appreciate you bringing this concerns to my attention; we value feedback from our customers to how we can improve and develop our network. We make every effort to ensure our bus services meet the demands of our customers. Usage is regularly reviewed to ensure that our bus routes provide sufficient capacity. We also closely monitor the reliability of our routes to ensure that customers receive a regular, dependable service. I have passed your email to our Network Development team who are responsible for monitoring bus network usage and implementing changes that benefit our customers. If so they?ll look to see if it?s viable to increase the frequency of the bus. If it isn?t possible to increase the frequency of the service, but there is a shortfall in capacity, they may be able increase the capacity of the bus by other means and will look into this possibility." This is 33% reduction in frequency!! Perhaps I could understand a reduction in the service outside of rush hour, but during rush hour the service is very, very busy. The new lower frequency will mean a possible 15+ minute wait of there are any delays in the service (ie. A bus is taken out, or there are heavy roadworks along the route causing heavy congestion.) Like a previous post, I am concerned that the changes made are measured on information which is not reliable. How can they measure how many people use the service when many passengers do not even touch in. There are many passengers who have bus passes or travel cards which do not require touching in or out, so how could you possibly know how many people are using the service. The suggestion of increasing the capacity of the bus itself is a totally inadequate remedy to a reduction in frequency. This is a very disappointing decision given that as a City and a borough we are supposed to encouraging people out of their cars.
  14. Number 12 Bus is being reduced from 12 buses an hour down to 8. That is a significant reduction
