  1. Sorry, forgot to say, they do seem to love the 'chair style' potties for some reason, I guess they are a bit more comfortable maybe??
  2. Hi there, Hmmm, my friend swore by a travel potty (fold flat thing with bags), but I managed fine with a normal potty in bottom of the buggy. I think it depends on your lifestyle and what you tend to do / where you go etc. If it would help....I'm selling 2 potties - 1 bog standard one for ?1, and a chair style one with matching step for a fiver. And if you don't feel 'funny' about these things, I also have a whole load of outgrown knickers (daughters not mine!!) that you can have too - so you'd have plenty should any accidents occur!!! Generally girls get it pretty fast so I wouldn't spend too much on fancy stuff just see how it goes. How old is your daughter? Molly
  3. For newborns at night can I say that Drawstring nightgowns are the best thing EVER! No poppers to cope with when changing in the night, so quick and easy. The Nappy Lady & John Lewis both do them I think or just Google. Xx
  4. Love morning sessions having tried both because; 1. Staff are fresher 2. You can use the morning time effectively then plan rest of day with both kids - afternoon session sits right in the middle of the day with little time to do much before or after it! 3. I can never get my youngest to eat lunch before the afternoon session - then she comes home hungry so wants snacks that mess up tea time. 4. She will often come home from an AM session and nap (just think both kids may nap at once!!) where as with PM session I've had to be late because she fell asleep after a busy morning with me, so annoying and even worse if they fall asleep at 4pm after the PM session!! Hope this helps. Have to say C (my second) has been doing a mix of both sessions so far and seems to be very happy at both so it doesn't matter that much and isn't worth fretting about. Choose whichever suits YOU best - for me from Seot it's going to be 2 full days and 1 morning - hurrah!! I can't wait! Xx
  5. I loved Next ones good quality, great fit and funky colours and patterns. I know you said you didn't care about that bit but what the heck thought I'd say it anyway!!
  6. As a Mum and a dog owner I applaud you. I'm always politely pointing out stuff like this to other dog owners and sometimes get abuse back but I just smile and say I would hate them to get a fine etc. Good on you for doing what you did. Xx
  7. Jen is great - she's been doing my hair since at least 2007 when I was pregnant with Number 2, and has worked around my older child who was then 3 going on 4, plus my pregnancy, then newborn, toddler, now bossy 3.5 year old who tries to persuade Jen to let her help do my hair, not to mention asking 100 questions about what she's doing, why she's doing it etc. etc. etc.! She does cut, colour and drying and is flexible on timings etc. Her number is 07932 894335
  8. If it helps, it is possible to have 120 at the Horniman Conservatory, plus another 30 evening guests if you have the marquee too, 150 total across the day. Doesn't fix the finish time I know but thought you'd want to know....
  9. Oh and I think 2 & 3 are together...
  10. I travelled home last Friday night on the last train and it definitely left from Platform 3 at Blackfriars (I wasn't that drunk, honest!). :-)
  11. We've now paid a lot of money to have two Sycamores felled that we're in neighbours gardens but causing massive shade problems to our garden plus two others, not to mention the seedlings. The first tree cost ?600 to have felled plus poisen put into the stump to ensure no regrowth - the owner of the garden the tree was in was happy for it to go but unwilling to pay so 3 houses being affected by the shade shared the cost. The second tree (again with the owners blessing) we've been trying to keep under control for a couple of years, but they grow so fast in the end we just delayed the inevitable and only allowed it to get even taller do that cost ?500 to have the same treatment as the first. Don't get me wrong, I'm a tree lover but these trees are totally unsuitable for small London gardens and we will be on Sycamore watch for a while to ensure no seedlings survive - we have pulled hundreds up over the past couple of years. The light in our garden is now amazing. My advice with Sycamores would always be to watch with extreme caution and get rid of them whilst they are small unless you have a very big garden.
  12. I always sync my iPad with iTunes on a PC using Windows. If you can convert the files to MP4s and then put in iTunes wherever you sync your iPad to normally you should be fine. If you get really stuck I know a man who can help without being tooooo expensive!!
  13. And you can convert your DVDs to a format that then plays on iPad too - if you google you'll find instructions on how I'm sure - you need software to convert the file.
  14. Watched it tonight on iplayer and it was so interesting. I'm now raging at the injustice of it all - and it explains why, when I wends tracing my family history and went to see my great grandparents & grandparents (dads side)former house close to Deptford High Street I found a strange empty road with wasteland around it - still, only a few years ago! Dad was born 1908 and they had moved by then so he wouldnt have known, but I bet their old home/street was part of all the general demolishing. So sad, I assumed it had all been bombed out when I visited. It makes you think again about the clearing of the flats at Elephant & Castle, I remember being surprised that people didn't want to leave, but it must be awful to lose close friends and neighbours that you've lived close to for years and years, let alone family.
  15. I think it's entirely up to each individual what you choose to call these special people in their lives. We are not religious but our girls have Godparents, and actually we have chosen them to be legal guardians to, as the best possible option in what would of course be a terrible situation. Rather like weddings, these days we don't have to follow the rules or risk causing outrage in the village. ;-) Hurrah for that!
  16. Ah yes, the paddling pool at the zoo, very conveniently placed next to the gift shop that sells mega expensive towels (that are made from the thinnest towelling ever)! Always take a towel to the zoo - random but true!! Sandy-Rose - when I take my girls into town the best bit for them always seems to be the bus journey!!
  17. Amy, first of all try not to worry as that will only make it worse (easier said than done I know). I can't recall when it happened to me, but the huge 'football boob' engorgement thing did decrease after a while & I still fed for a long time (15 months with No1 & 24 months with No2). Your little one may be feeding more because he's getting hungrier and you are nearly at the point of starting some solids but milk will still be his main source of nutrients until he turns 1. I'd keep an eye on it and of course check his weight gain. Maybe pop into a breast feeding cafe if you are really worried but the best way to stimulate milk production is simply to keep on feeding. If you take the 'mothers milk' eat well and try to stay relaxed I'm sure all will be well. Big hugs. Xx
  18. When my first daughter was still very little (2-3 months I think)& it was the middle of a heat wave, August 2004 I was struggling around Sainsburys DKH trying to push a half full trolley, shop & breast feed (WHY...good question!). Anyway, a lovely Sainsburys lady came to my rescue, insisted on pushing the trolley and holding my list whilst walking around with me and letting me tell her what needed putting in the trolley! She escorted me through checkout and to the car whilst reassuring me that I was doing an amazing job and back when she had her children they always played up as soon as she tried to get anything done too. Lovely lady, who I wish I could name but cannot (didn't even know my own name back then!)...thank you I have never forgotten your kindness.
  19. All their large animals - elephants etc are now out at Whipsnade, which is much better for them. I think for a two year old as others have said - Battersea Park or similar will do, save the big zoo for when he's a bit older, unless you can get a really good deal on tickets.
  20. Hi, you could try that - should still help but they may not stay in place quite so well, some pop at the edges is kind of inevitable at times I think. You can get a sort of mini shower head that can be plumbed into your toilet feed to rinse the nappies off with but it's a bit extreme. Get the worst off by holding in the loo as you flush then put them all on a rinse cycle before washing so they actually wash in clean water. Xx
  21. Mrs F, you may need to move up to the larger liners. In the past that would have been Junior Joy or Popli paper liners but not sure what Wendy at The Nappy Lady now stocks. If you contact her she will be happy to advise and may even send you some samples to try. I always found the Ultra liners great at first, but less so as baby got older and from 6 months always moved to a wider liner that stuck out the legs of the nappy & also front & back - this helps to hold it in place and as long as wrap then contains everything (ie no liner sticking out of the wrap) it will be much better. Hope this helps. Molly (who will never be able to completely resist giving nappy advice. ;-). )
  22. My eldest had a flat area as a baby. I was referred but told it was nothing to worry about and it did correct itself. I know someone who had twins that wore helmets for a while, I think they only do this when it's more severe but def. worth speaking to your doctor or HV before doing anything else.
  23. A friend found the Ergo easiest and have to say it worked for me too, you just loosen the strap on 1 side. I have one you can borrow to try if you like? Will be selling anyway in due course.
  24. I'm terrible - my approach is to watch it on the TV, as you get to see so much more that way. I know it isn't quite the same, but as with the wedding, I wanted to see ALL of it, not just a few minutes of horses and carriages (and mini buses LOL) going past. Like the idea of going to see the boats the day before though when they are MOORED (LOL Nunheadmum ;-) ) up, or maybe on Sunday if they are still there at the Greenwich event. Hmmmm.
  25. Def contact The Nappy Lady via her website or Facebook. Wendy will be able to sort you out I'm sure. Www.thenappylady.co.uk Hope you get sorted. Molly Xxx
