  1. I have to say I think the existing small children's playground (the old one near the adventure playground) is really dated & lacking in creativity. Compared to many other local playgrounds it's very uninspiring & I'm excited about the opportunity of a new space, but totally agree about parents needing to be consulted & PLEASE no uphill streams, how did the company that put that in get away with it?! I think having a more open area by the cafe with play equipment will be good if it's sorted out a bit & I really don't care less about the old POW hut (sorry). The adventure playground is fab so I do hope they don't mess the area up to much & that the skate park & outdoor gym etc all get properly re-instated.
  2. Must have been bad as air ambulance arrived at the park bottom of Barry Road. :-((
  3. Very pleased to hear about this service, I really hope more parents start to stick with rear facing for longer it's so much safer.
  4. Thank you Townleygreen you're a star.
  5. Hi - looking into buying one of these - anyone got a Which Subscription by any chance? Wondering what the top 3 are in the lower price bracket - e.g. around the ?300 mark. I'm quite interested in a Sony one, which has blue tooth to stream music and a separate wireless Sub Woofer. But I don't know much about these things, so?? ?????? Thank you - in advance.
  6. Contact Andre at Www.littlebluefish.co.uk he's local, knows his stuff & will sort out your PC (or Mac) without a fuss. Have used him for years, both for our work machines & home PCs & can't recommend him highly enough. His number is 07595 991655.
  7. My eldest is hyper sensitive too. The doctor prescribed Sun Sense & she's fine with that. I tend to just buy it over the counter now rather that claiming it on prescription which feels a bit unfair really (as I'd be buying some type for her anyway). You can get it from the chemist on Northcross Rd in huge pump action bottles or as a roll on which the kids like. There is a brand Health Matters sell that is good too but expensive & I can't recall the make sorry.
  8. Yes you need your own supplies at Sydenham Wells but its a good play area with plenty of grass to sit down & shady places if required. I prefer it to Myatts Field from that point of view, though as the children get older its easier to position oneself a little further away & let them just 'boomerang' to check in at intervals. Best when not too busy tho!
  9. Went to Sydenham Wells after school today & it was on & busy without being crazy. Hurrah!!
  10. I gather Brockwell Park is off so thinking; Sydenham wells jets? Ruskin Park Paddling Pool? Myatts Field?? Any that are on will be packed I just don't wanna turn out & then Find it's not even open / on.
  11. Argh no. Was going this afternoon but maybe best not.
  12. Hi Can anyone tell me where today's big rugby match might be showing on a big screen in ED? Thanks
  13. Sorted thank you!
  14. Motorbird we are doing our loft now. We are putting 2 bedrooms (for the children) and a shower room in up there. We will then have 3 bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor - which will be 'our' adult bathroom, plus for guests when they come. Storage is an issue, but we too have been keeping a whole load of crud in the attich - if you don't have the storage you don't keep so much cr*p if you will excuse me French, but it is true! You DO need storage, true, but what we have planned into our 'big build' (loft is only the tip of it), is to use every bit of space throughout the house in the best way we can - so we've reconfigured under the stairs so it is now 3 separate cupboards instead of one long thin one (which was a nightmare - whatever you needed was always at the flipping back). Also building in storage floor to ceiling cupboards wherever it makes sense, and doing the same in the loft - into the low eaves once finished. personally I think this is the best approach, and it will make me think much harder about what I choose to hang on to in the future. I do see your dilemma given you have an en suite as well as a family bathroom on the 1st floor, but I think overall I'd still put a shower room into the attic. Happy building! Molly
  15. It may help to think about the schedule of your day & split it out: E.G post ceremony drinks reception 1.5 hours allow 2 glasses per person & say you have 100 guests divide by 6 (6 glasses per bottle) then times by 2 & that's how many bottles needed. But then add soft drinks as not all will be drinking alcohol. Allow same amount again in red & white for wedding breakfast. Then evening reception - wine, beer, soft drinks - get a good mix but you may find many guests will have slowed down by that point. Really vital to have loads of water available throughout of course as its a long old day.
  16. Breast fed newborn not that likely to get it, though sometimes they get a very mild dose & you don't even know. TBH it's kind of good to know its out the way - our 4 year old is yet to get it as far as I know, and having had to miss a plane thanks to older child's timing it is hanging over me like the sword of Damocles!!!
  17. Hi guys After a Very nasty biut of tonsilitis last week My 4 year old has been referred to the paediatric ENT dept at St T's. I have to be there for 9.30am this Thursday. Any advice re the best travel options - bus vs drive & park etc?? Cheers

  19. There is always next year MidIvydale - we raised over ?800!!! Wow - thank you so much everyone (our target was ?500) - we are really amazed.
  20. YEAY so glad you enjoyed it. I was mostly stuck in the office so sorry if I missed you. Note to self I really need to change my forum name to something like The Admin Lady these days LOL.
  21. Well at 43 I'm still loving princess stories & happy to go out wearing something pink & sparkly ....with pride. Then again I also love to go clubbing with my gay male friends, so I blame it on them! There is no hope for my 2 girls. Bad, bad Mummy.
  22. Hi all, If like me you tend to forget to look at the "What's on in East Dulwich" page you may not know about this pop up coffee shop, in aid of Comic Relief - tomorrow on Barry Road....please come along and support a very good cause - only 2 minutes walk from Peckham Rye Park. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?6,1066638 You can even laugh at my waitressing skills ;-)
  23. Yep the 34th is great - my daughter completed her 2 years & is now a cub. Would highly recommend & Carolyn is lovely.
  24. Also the Martin Lewis site moneysavingexpert.co.uk now has a cheaper energy club you can sign up to. You need you current bills to enter tariffs etc & then they will email you to let you know if there is a cheaper offer & how much you'd save. So you can decide if say ?30 a year is worth the switch versus ?80 a year etc. If you want to switch they will do it for you - nothing in it for them just something a lot of people have wanted for a long time. I'm planning to sign up just need to dig my bills out & find time to do it! Suspect Ovo will still compare well though AND they pay interest on my in credit funds from the direct debit. I like that a lot.
  25. We are with Ovo & they seem good.
