  1. I like your post, EDKiwi! And yes, I've seen it for myself!
  2. Yes, we heard and saw those, wondered who was having a big party! (By the way, A, our small child wasn't upset!)
  3. Goodness me, Barry Road again. I hope the moped rider will be okay.
  4. I have just been looking at Sky News' website. Sky News' website readers can comment on the stories, and on the whole the people who comment are a pretty inarticulate bunch. On this story, the commenters are all calling for the reintroduction of the death penalty. However, this particular story is about the fact that that the parents of the victims are going to sue the British government. Now that I find truly 'incroyable'.
  5. Crickey. Hardly metropolitan.
  6. Yes, I would be up for that, I don't have a baby sitter either! (Have three-and-a-half year old.)
  7. Yes I totally agree with you! The Suffragettes fought so hard for our right to vote, it would be nothing less than sad (ungrateful, even, or disloyal to our sex) for us to be apathetic! Mind you, 'working men' weren't too far behind in the right to vote. I think it's important to exercise your democratic right to vote, whoever you vote for, because there are too many countries in the world where people don't have a vote.
  8. I'm so pleased to hear she is okay! Thanks for posting. I'm sure she will remember to use the zebra crossing in future!
  9. I would never ask a pharmacist. They know a bit about drugs, but they can't diagnose.
  10. Crikey O'Riley!!!!
  11. There is a floral tribute tied to the railings at Elephant this morning. Very sad.
  12. I don't think it's a sick thread, Josh. Accidents always happen, and people are discussing.
  13. I've seen several times on TV programmes about road safety that lorries have a notorious blind spot - I think when they are turning they can't seen anything on their left, the length of their vehicle (not sure if I've got that correct, but it's something like that). The roads are just so busy in London that it's not surprising there are a lot of accidents. Poor you, Sweetgirl, seeing so many in a few days! It's so horrible to see an accident - far worse for the people involved, of course - but it always makes me feel it could have been me or someone close to me.
  14. I came through Elephant on the 45 bus this evening shortly before 6. Part of the roundabout still cordoned off, traffic diverted. Lorry still in place, and very distorted bicycle on road. Really horrible.
  15. I have to agree with PinkyB about Forest Hill Sainsbury's - it's smaller and easier to get around and is a much friendlier store, with some very nice staff. Dog Kennel does sell more stuff, though, but I choose my times to avoid the crowds...
  16. .... does anyone know why it was closed? I don't think it's back to normal yet.
  17. I used to travel from Honor Oak Park to London Bridge, then bus to Gray's Inn Road (earlier is better, as Dukesdenver said). After Xmas they changed the timetable for trains in the evening, so coming home was even more horribly overcrowded. However, with the snow at the beginning of February and all the faffing around trying to get into work, I discovered a great bus route, which doesn't really take any longer, and I am saving loads of money on train fares! Try the bus!
  18. Which bit do you think is the most important bit of what you think I've missed?
  19. I think you may be being a little paranoid...
  20. By the way it's really cold out there, so do wrap up warm! (For all that standing around at bus stops!)
  21. I tried to get a 40 at The Plough bus stop (got there about 07.50) and no 40s. Couldn't get on another bus to take me down to Grove Vale, so back home again! Will try again a bit later.
  22. Sue, are you at liberty to say what the circumstances outside your control are? Even a hint.....? I have tickets, but bought them online so got an email about the change of venue. I haven't yet been to the Clubroom, but upstairs at the EDT was such a nice, intimate venue!
  23. Is the boundary Wood Vale? Which runs between the top of Lordship Lane and Forest Hill Road? I think it's also the border between Southwark and Lewisham.
