  1. That might possibly be acceptable if they kept one train from each route, but they have cancelled an entire route. OK if you're only travelling from, say East Dulwich, you would still have 2 trains an hour. But if you're travelling from a station further out, you will have to find a completely new route into London.
  2. According to the Southern Rail website, the new timetable is in place until further notice and will be reviewed weekly and there may be further changes. I have been getting the early trains (between 7am - 8am) for a couple of weeks, accompanying my husband for daily treatment at Guys. We have noticed the trains are getting busier and this new timetable will make them more so. but people are still a bit 'precious' about having someone sat next to them and are reserving the adjacent seat with their bags. As a couple of 70+ year olds and my husband suffering from cancer, if we need a seat we are more than happy to sit next to another passenger as we are both double vaxxed.
  3. Southern trains services between East Dulwich and London Bridge are reduced from tomorrow (26th July) from 4 an hour to 2 an hour. This is explained away on the National Rail website as 'in response to the effects of coronavirus'.
  4. I would say have another go at your GP. Our GP, for all their faults, are very pro-active regarding possible skin cancers. My husband thought he had a persistent patch of eczema behind his ear and showed it to our GP, who referred him to the 2 week wait dermatology clinic at Kings. Turned out to be a Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC), which was removed within a few weeks. Since then, if my husband has any concerns about further patches, he askes the GP to refer him. So far, he has had 3 BCCs removed and is awaiting a further procedure.
  5. Hi Alex TSS - Top Signal Service - are excellent, fast and efficient and very reasonable charges. They will advise you and won't push you into expensive work if not necessary. Tel 07957 664001 [email protected]
  6. You can also ring 119 and they will book it.
  7. Have you tried Yorkshire Tea? They do 2 - ordinary (?2.60 per 250gms) and Gold (?2.75 per 250gms)in Sainsburys
  8. The bacon shop in Choumert Rd. Used to cure / cook bacon on the premises. Can still remember their boiled bacon!
  9. Another recommendation for TSS. Installed a new aerial and satellite dish and removed an entire wheelie bin load of excess wiring accumulated over the years both inside and outside the house. Very polite, tidy and covid compliant. Wore shoe protectors and masks inside the house. Charged exactly as quoted, even though they had to use additional materials. Extremely reasonably priced considering the amount of work they did. Gave excellent advice and choices; no pressure selling.
  10. Does anyone know of any local charity shops doing home collections at the moment? Alex TLC (Ald Life) in Peckham were, but have stopped due to staff shortage.
  11. I have also noticed several staff in M&S at ED station don't wear masks and have reported this on line to their Customer Service dept. I was advised that this would be taken up with the manager, but nothing has changed. In particular, the person who regularly serves on the bakery, wears her mask around her neck and the staff on the Help Desk are usually maskless. There also isn't a screen on the Help Desk, which I would have expected to be a standard fixture.
  12. Book by phoning 119. If you don't have your NHS number, they will accept your date of birth
  13. You can also make appt by phoning 119
  14. AylwardS - well said!
  15. We made appts via 119 and were given both appts at the same time
  16. Booked for myself and my husband using 119. Took about 10 mins to book 1st and 2nd appts for both of us. Had vaccinations at Junction Pharmacy in Coldharbour Lane. We were the only people there for vaccinations. Staff lovely, pharmacy spotlessly clean. Whole process took about 15 mins. Well pleased!
  17. I had to go to Camberwell Green this morning. About 11ish, there was no queue to get in the small Lidl and they were well stocked with fresh fruit, veg and salad. No queue to get in the Co-op or Morrisons either. If you don't need much, this is a good option to queuing.
  18. We had a delivery today (Sunday) - from Camberwell Green sorting office - Well done !
  19. Hi Trinidad If you have the same problem in the future, email the PALS office at [email protected]. They will liaise with the clinic directly. Usually works for me.
  20. Hi IANR - thanks for the info. Unfortunately, most of the post boxes in my locality are designated 'priority' and parcel drop boxes, but they all seem to be standard size!
  21. According to the Royal Mail website, because the parcels are 48 hour tracked, I can't take them to a post office! Don't ask me why. Think I will give it a try though.
  22. Does anyone know where the nearest Royal Mail parcel drop box to Ivanhoe Road is located? According to the Royal Mail website, its on the corner of Ivanhoe Rd and Avondale Rise, however, although my parcel is within the size limit of a large letter, the post box is at least 2 inches too small. Does anyone know if any of the local post offices have parcel drop boxes? If not I will have to traipse down to the sorting office at Camberwell Green or arrange pickup at extra cost. Thanks
  23. Our post comes from Camberwell sorting office and is usually pretty good. However, yesterday our postie (who is a diamond) told us that as they are short staffed, they have been told to prioritise parcels and only deliver letters if they have time. So we might be short of Xmas cards this year!
  24. My granddaughter is at Wilmington Girls Grammar. After passing the 11 plus for her area, there was no entrance exam, the main criteria for entry was distance. Parents also had to provide proof that they lived in the school catchment area. She lives about 1/4 mile from the school and only just got in.
  25. My granddaughter is in her 2nd year at a grammar school in Kent. Her parents had to provide proof that they had lived in their house (in Kent) for at least 2 years prior to application, so I don't think you stand much chance of acceptance even if you move now.
