Another recommendation for Hussein. He was really great at working round our builders changing schedule and did a great job. We are using him again for our next job. He is polite, friendly and trustworthy

Prestige Build and Management Limited

We have used Prestige Build twice now, both major projects, and highly recommend. We did a side return in 2017 which has completely transformed our house. They listened to how we wanted it done, which was different to others on the street, and did a fantastic job. Great communication throughout, polite and friendly builders and gave advice and options on building issues when needed. The build quality is really good and has been commented on by many people. We have had no issues with the side return and it is now almost 7 years old. Due to the high quality finish and ease of working with them on the side return, we got them back to extend our loft, remove a chimney stack and repair our roof. The end product is once again fantastic. They managed to give us more headroom than we previously had, replumb so we no longer relied on macerator toilet, widened the staircase, without losing space below, and built a good sized extra room. Snagging issues were minimal and dealt with swiftly. Prestige manage the whole project, from architect drawings, planning and building. They are a reliable trustworthy company who do a high quality job.- 20 replies

Prestige Build and Management Limited

We used Prestige Build and Management to design and build a side return extension and remove some chimney breasts on the first floor of our house. The standard of work was very high and we are so pleased with the result. We would use them again. Prestige did everything from provide us with an architect right through to build and decorate. We had a clear idea of what we wanted to do, which wasn?t the ?standard? side return, and they were really happy to work with our ideas and help us achieve what we wanted. They guided us through what would and wouldn?t work and also gave us different options and ways of moving forward, as well as ideas we hadn?t thought of, with all costs made clear. The builders were extremely friendly and polite and also kept the shared areas with our neighbours very tidy. They would also do their best to arrange meetings round my working hours when we needed to discuss something on the site. The finished space is amazing, such a brilliant family area combining kitchen and dining with a living/play room, we pretty much live in the new bit and hardly use the rest of the house. We love it. https://www.prestigebuild.net -

Virgin Media Outage - Northcross Road
MDMDPD replied to Neil.P's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Is anyone currently having issues with Virgin? Have had no broadband connectivity since last Friday and they want to charge me ?70 to cancel the non-existent service. Thinking of switching to BT, anyone got any experience of them in the area? -

This is a long shot but.... my son had a teddy bears picnic in Dulwich park yesterday with his school. Unfortunately he lost his beloved soft toy tiger. It's only about 6 inches tall, but if by any chance someone comes across it please get in touch! They were near the west lawns, it could also be in the toilets. We are away for the weekend so can't even go and check 😭

Spring babies 2017 (due March/April/May)
MDMDPD replied to Family Room Moderator's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi, Is it too late to join this group? I heard there were nice baby groups to join on the forum, didn't realise people met up before their babies were born. I have just had my baby and would love to meet some mums in the area. -

This logic also seems to apply to the train services

Probably true, nothing would surprise me. The government isn't going to do anything. The Association of British Commuters is doing a great job trying to hold the government to account through a legal process but it'll degenerate into a whitewash. But in our area, we shouldn't have anything to do with Southern or any other private rail company. The Mayor is responsible for tranport in London so it should be within his remit to say, 'My City, My tracks, I'm going to run some trains on them' as per the rest of inner London
-
That may be so but whether RMT / ASLEF have power over train operating companies should be nothing to do with us in ED with a Zone 2 station. We shouldn't be dependent on private train operating companies because we live in an inner city area where the car is not a feasible alternative for commuting. We have tracks, we should have TFL trains where we can hold our local government and Mayor to account over the delivery of these services via the ballot box.
-
That was in response to a complete takeover of Southern, including all the long routes that run into Tory areas. Running some trains on the public lines within Greater London area is a different proposition surely?
-
I would've thought it would be in everyone's interests for problem to be broken into smaller pieces so it can be solved. There's a big difference between DOO on a 5 carriage metro service through manned stations and a 12 carriage Brighton service through rural stations. The thing that infuriates me is that the issue in the main is nothing to do with us. We are a zone 2 station and we just need a simple metro service running back and forth every 10 minutes on the publicly owned tracks as per the rest of London.
-
Why can't, as an "interim" measure, TFL take over running some Overground metro services between London Bridge and Croydon. There is a publicly owned track and someone just needs to run a train on it. And the 5 carriage Overground trains stopping at manned stations could be DOO as per the rest of the Overground. I know Khan has offered to take over Southern but the government is never going to let that happen. But surely they can't refuse TFL running some trains on the empty lines.

Richard painted a large room in my house, did an absolutely fantastic job and I couldn't be happier with the work he has done. He also went beyond the job, fixing extra little details and was very honest about what didn't need doing. I really got the impression that Richard knows his trade inside out. He was very punctual and efficient and completed the job in good time. I will have absolutely no hesitation in using Richard again for more decorating in my house
