I guess some people would rather have someone to blame, and its nice to think that if they caught this one person that cats would be safe again. If there is no cat killer then there is no solution. Sadly however, outdoor cats do often come to violent ends, both by other animals and vehicles.

To add a bit more detail on the editing out story, Ridley Scott originally wanted Christopher Plummer for the role, but the the studio insisted on Spacey because they wanted someone more popular. At the moment Spacey is anything but, and is probably box office poison. So as far as I can see they have the following choices. 1. Standing by Spacey as they are only allegations and release the film. Profits be dammed! 2. Hold off the release until a) Spacey totally clears his name and becomes a massive hero. Box office gold, but very doubtful. b) Spacey is charged with something, or admits to something. Then re-shoot with someone else. 3. Re-shoot with someone else right now while Scott is still available and get some positive promotion as a bonus. I'm not fond of the court of public opinion, but unfortunately in the film industry public opinion is almost everything. If it wasn't for the public's very high opinion of him he wouldn't have got the role over Plummer in the first place. Perhaps editing someone out of a film because of allegations is disproportionate. However, do people think that not bothering to go see a film because of one of the stars alleged behaviour is disproportionate? You don't even have to feel that strongly about it for that. It is really easy to not go see a film and go see something else. That is the feeling the studio is up against.

There's a certain type of song that has become really popular in advertising that I call the John Lewis cover song. It's generally a young lady singing a slow soft ethereal cover version. Current examples are "Stand by Me" in a Nescafe ad. "Send in the Clowns" in a car ad and "Ready or Not" in a Green and Blacks ad. I am usually subjected to this at least twice when I visit the cinema.

I know what you mean antantant. I do a short jaunt on the 38 from Victoria on mornings I get the train its much quicker boarding the new Routemaster all right. If they had built a bus with 3 doors and not made the upstairs cramped and stuffy we'd both be happy! :-)

I am so disappointed to hear this. I have a choice between train or bus in the mornings and most mornings try to get up early enough so I can get the 12 all the way in to Piccadilly Circus. Despite the longer travel time its a much better start to the day and I read all the way in. Lovely, especially on a sunny morning. The new routemasters are so cramped and dark upstairs compared with modern buses. I'm not sure I want to spend an hour on one each morning. When they built the original routemasters they made the windows that size because of the manufacturing limitations of the day. We can now make buses with much better bigger windows so why go backwards? We should be making new history and not trying to hang on to the past. We need to be making new designs that will become iconic to London, not aping old ones.
