Strongly support these improvements, to an area which is finally starting to fulfill its potential. There will always be people against any change, and it's impossible to please everyone or come up with the perfect solution for everything.

Kick out the phoenix pub and reinstate a full station exit/entry - that's what it was build for. At the moment it is a mess. And give the current "shed" facing denmark hill as a quid pro quo to the phoenix leaseholders to turn into a bar if needs be.

From a wider london/financing perspective, yes, OKR is the natural home for a bakerloo line extension. I think both Peckham and Camberwell would benefit greatly from improvements to the current infrastructure (in lieu of new lines) - e.g. hope the peckham rye station is rebuilt in '16, Denmark Hill station should be reinstated and the phoenix pub kicked out, the overground should stop at Brixton and at the new OKR bakerloo line stop, all the 3 stations in Elephant & Castle (train, northern, jubilee) need to be brought together (its a mess currently), more thameslink and southeastern trains stopping at our stations, including trains to Gatwick etc etc. We don't need a multi-billion pound new line, the current facilities just need to be improved and integrated. And since we were shortchanged with the bakerloo line consultation, i'd expect the demands to be made now.

the Old Kent road option will certainly be cheaper to the government (similar to the northern line at nine elms, by partnering with developers) and spur regeneration of a ghastly no man's land area, which is a good thing. However, they wont be able to ignore this consultation results'. I hope they find a way a developing both options, but with the camberwell line going straight south to herne hill, dulwich or crystal palace; that would make more sense.

UK rail or thameslink are completely disorganised. They've only taken over DH station from Southeastern recently, so nothing has been updated yet. That's what I've been reassured of, lets see!

Lyndhurst grove and way are great - there are some really nice houses around there. It's becoming quite smart; i think of that area as more peckham rather than camberwell. Once Peckham Rye station is redeveloped in a year or two, that'll become even nicer. Interesting about those plans for Warwick Gardens, i think camberwell society managed to block them!

a lot going on... Mike & Ollie and Theo's Pizzeria are opening in Camberwell. Icefires is great (oddonos watch out!). What's missing around here is a great sushi place!

Good debate - much more informed and constructive. Camberwell probably lost its way as an aristocratic suburb of London after the war(s), and has lived ever since as a gritty part of inner city London, separated from central London by the "Berlin walls" of vauxhal and elephant & castle, and sandwiched between Brixton and Peckham. Not a good place to be. However, all of this has already changed. Vauxhal (and Nine elms) and elephant & Castle are in the last stages of multi-billion pounds' developments, and Brixton and Peckham are now hipster central. Equally important, the Camberwell conservation society has done a fantastic job in maintaining and enhancing the area's grand character + there is a lot of redevelopment going (work is starting all over - pocket spaces, the green, Denmark hill junctions, removing bus stops etc), plus the hospital expansion and the Camberwell art college ?80M development etc. Give it no more than one year max and Camberwell will be back as a prime & elegant central London location. re transport, things have also already changed - the overground is finally faster and more frequent, as is the southeastern line to Victoria. Thameslink is already much better going into the city and st pancras (every 15 mins), but next year the new siemens tube-like fast trains will be delivered, when it'll become a de facto new tube line (every 5 mins). But totally agree - fine if you live in south Camberwell. North Camberwell is a different matter re transport - that's where the Bakerloo line extension will be a game changer.

LondonMix - ED and snobs? Surely that's an oxymoron... If you live in Mayfair, belgravia, the boltons, onslow sq etc, you can be a snob. But in ED? That'd warrant medical treatment. The only places around here that could (at a stretch) warrant a bit of snobbery are camberwell grove and maybe some houses in dulwich village. Anyway, nuff of this nonsense. Anyway - this was veering off course, no need to get into a slinging match. My point was I just don't get it when ED people slag off camberwell - it just doesn't add up, it must be an inferiority complex (from the minority who do). Most importantly, ED is great - love Franco manca, brick house, oddonos, burro e salvia etc - the same way I love bellenden rd, Peckham rye, Dulwich proper, Brixton, brockley market, addington sq, etc - SE London is going through a good moment.

Camberwell transport links. I live 10 mins walk from Denmark hill, from where I get regular trains to Clapham, Victoria, Blackfriars, the city, St Pancras, Canada Water, shoreditch. If this is not great, I'm not sure what is. Plus thameslink will de facto deliver a new tube line + bakerloo line is looking promising.
