  1. By no means limited to ED, but it does irk me that I so often come across shop assistants at tills who don't stop their conversation to serve customers. Even in places which used to pride themselves on customer service.
  2. I said risks must be well controlled given age from which kids can participate. Just amazed anyone would be asked to give waiver for negligence.
  3. This looks amazing. Slightly surprised though to see this in the waiver: "Furthermore, TLCC Trapeze School employees have difficult jobs to perform and cannot prevent all accidents. They try to minimize the risk, but accidents may happen. By signing this agreement, I am waiving any claims against TLCC Trapeze School for negligence and expressly assume the risk of injury because of negligence or failure of equipment." I understand there would be risks and given it's for kids from age 6 these must be well controlled. But surely users cannot take on responsibility for company's negligence??? Is this even possible under H&S regs?
  4. I would definitely go for a solicitor. People we bought from used a conveyance miles away. They were rubbish and it added loads of time and hassle. Have used my solicitor 5 times over the years and she does a proper job. When I'm spending that much, I find that extremely reassuring. I don't think it's something to skimp on.
  5. The new building next to the adventure playground on Peckham Rye is available for hire, although no idea the cost.
  6. My son has been to Southwark gymnastics a few times and enjoys it, but he already attends lessons so knows some of the people which helps, for him anyway. You can book into their lessons in holidays which run 10-12, and add on pre or post lesson holiday club with other activities. The other one is Nimble Arts which run in Horniman and Heber schools. My son enjoyed that. Although not a frequent one as a bit pricey, but they do set up a lot of activities.
  7. We found putting wire mesh over airbricks pretty effective. Helps if neighbours will do the same.
  8. snowy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Whirled is in Loughborough Junction (and has been > there for years!) highly recommended... On the subject of cinemas I've only just found out about of which everyone else may already be well aware, Kino Bermondsey: http://www.kinodigital.co.uk/home/film-listings/?venue=b Handy for on the way home from work. For me, anyway.
  9. Possibly the community centre at Nunhead Green. http://www.thegreennunhead.org/venue-hire/
  10. Yep, Southwark Gymnastics is the Camberwell one. They usually have gymnastics lessons and holiday clubs on over holidays but often it's advertised quite late. https://bookwhen.com/southwarkgym
  11. I haven't lived in either area but would go for Peckham rye
  12. Hell on Earth. Never ever again. Why for Pete's sake can't they just turn the 30 second loop music off? And absolutely criminal to make you fork out a fortune to go in only to queue for everything for hours. They can't even run the fast food restaurants efficiently. They send carriages which could take 4 people round with only 2 people in. Aaaaaargh.
  13. Mornings better than afternoons in a skateboard park as teenagers not yet up and about, but good chance to start running off younger kids'energy. Advise to take your child's own helmet if you have one for better fit but all is provided, including skateboard for anyone who just wants to try it out. (I don't work for them ;) ) I advise getting a group at the same level, it's pretty hard with several kids that age to cater for different abilities.
  14. Words & Pictures, Crystal Palace http://www.wp-printing.co.uk
  15. http://www.skatesandladders.com/lessons/ they come to you. Cheaper if you can get a group together.
  16. If you can get to Maida Vale this is a bit different: http://www.puppetbarge.com The Southbank centre often has activities for children, many of them free https://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/visit/family-fun
  17. Athenlay. Off Colyton road down the road with the gate to the edge of the girls' school. Pay as you go, ?5 per session. Danny and the other coaches are great with the kids.
  18. https://www.better.org.uk/leisure-centre/london/crystal-palace/crystal-palace-national-sports-centre/news/holiday-club-at-crystal-palace-national-sports-centre I just found this whilst looking for athletics lessons. No dates on website but there are contact details.
  19. http://southwarkgymnastics.co.uk/extras/holiday-club/ Gym sessions 10-12 with morning activities from 8.30 and afternoon trips until 5pm. Athenlay football club is 10-3, it's brilliant! Not sure the ages it covers, my son is 7.
  20. See also HT holiday clubs thread.
  21. Southwark gymnastics offer holiday clubs with gym classes 10-12 and before/after activities. They are often available quite late though compared to other holiday clubs. And Athenlay Football Club offer football in holidays, either 10-3 or 11-3, I forget. If you have an active child this is brilliant as it really wears them out! ;)
  22. Hi. I've searched and searched online but cannot find a climbing frame or monkey bars suitable for my 7 year old. They all seem to be made for people who have the space in their back gardens to put something up between the rose garden and the horses' paddock where it won't disrupt the view of the fountain. Suffice to say I have somewhat less space behind my terraced house, but still need a frame which stands more than 4 feet off the floor. My preference is monkey bars. Has anyone found any, or can recommend someone who has been able to build them? Thank you!
  23. Athenlay football club 9:30-11 Saturday mornings. and as noted in recent separate thread, there's free women's keep fit there from 10.15-11. They also have tea and coffee, which according to one of our friends is the holy grail of children's football clubs!
  24. Visiting a tea factory in a small town in southern India. I'm just coming to the end of my tour when a couple come in to start theirs. I don't pay much attention until I hear 'hey, Nicola' and it's a guy who sits just behind me at work.
