I'm really sorry guys - but can't we all just get along? I am assuming that the OP was some kind of tongue in cheek joke. I work from home running my own business was, and although I usually don't as I have a big screen I use for lots of my work, there might be times when I think 'do you know what, these four walls are driving me mad, let's get out into the realm of real people and have something to eat or drink while I'm at it'. Maybe they have housemates and need some space, maybe they are having building work done. It's not all posturing. If people are taking up space, ask to share. I imagine home workers are an important element of the weekday economy for businesses. As for the risk of being hacked the second you leave your home. I think that's somewhat overstated, and who knows what people are doing. Basically we all need to get along in this great city of ours, regardless of how irritating you might find certain people.

We are in the same boat - just sold our flat here and conte,playing next move. Have a friend in South Norwood, a 2/3 bed house for ?300k which isn't to be sniffed at, and I got there on a direct bus from ED. nothing of note there though. There are some lovely houses fir under ?500k in Catford, and whilst it's ugly it's pretty close to ED, has some cool pubs and there's things like Street Feast in Lewisham, and you're also not far from Forest Hill etc. that's where I'd buy. That said the Mr says he'd rather leave London and live in a 'nice' bit of another town so we are currently looking outside the capital too. Which is scary.

I use them regularly as I live round the corner and nothing ever goes missing.

This is very true, this is apparently a well known way for dog fighters to get bait animals. I'd offer to take them in but I fear four cats might Oudh me into mad territory.

Wasn't sure if this is worth posting but I took one of our cats to the vet this week as he was sneezing. It looks like it's cat flu, despite them being vaccinated and the vet mentioned it's going round at the moment. Apparently it's spread by direct contact, sharing bowls etc and I know that we've had a few interlopers getting beyond the cat flap so I thought it might be prudent to warn other ED cat owners. Both our cats are now quite sniffly and poorly.

Yep - Forest Hill Rd, all the way up the super steep Hill, round to Honor Oak station is now 20mph. I understand that junction at the top of the hill is a bit of an accident black spot, but making the whole stretch that seems mad.

Thanks all for your contributions. A taxi is tempting as we are going long haul and the silly buses are a particular source of frustration. It sounds like if we leave at 7am it should be okay. We've used a local airport taxi firm before (whose name escapes me) and they were great.

I hardly dare post this for fear of the usual lampoons and ridicule BUT here goes. usually my flights seem to be the monstrously early cheap ones or mid afternoon, but I have one that will involve a check in time of around 9.30. Was planning to drive and park as they currently have an excellent offer but I'm assuming if i leave at about 8am, traffic will be crazy and that I should probably just take the tube (which with suitcases at rush hour isn't particularly tempting either) Anyone done this recently and care to share any thoughts?

The key is stealth, I've only ever been told to move on photographing the London eye on slow shutter on a tripod, so I just moved back to the land they don't control. Check the light quickly, get your settings right without subject in frame, lift and snap... If you don't take too long, and don't look too obvious you can take pictures of anything (more or less)

Haha - this! Not sure whether the camera you've got is manual or not, but film loves a bit of overexposure. I do agree though that you can find inspiration anywhere. Rather than us telling you good locations, ask yourself what do you like, what inspires you, and then search that out. The places mentioned would be excellent starting places just to go for a walk, look around and find that thing. I take photos for a living, but I mean to work on personal projects so much more and I really miss the joy you get from taking photos for no particular reason.

It really depends what you want to take photos of - landscapes, people. Find what interests you and you'll be grand, you'd be surprised what you can see in areas that others consider uninteresting. Good luck with your film experiment, I love shooting with film and don't do it often enough.

Usually if you leave out in your garden on the days the garden waste collection they will take the tree. When we purchased our flat (a Victorian conversion) I was told by the estate agent that Southwark Council were the freeholder, this turned out not to be the case, but I'm actually pretty pleased reading this - Eek!
