If your 3yr old loves dinosaurs don't forget Crystal Palace Park, the pedalos are available so they can also be viewed from the boating lake.

I bought this book 'Pop-up London' for my nephew, it's wonderful, he loved it and would be a nice book to take with you http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1406321575/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don?t think there?s anyone would disagree that we need more affordable housing but not at the sake of thriving allotments where individuals/families have worked so hard to cultivate a small plot of land to grow their own. If they were ever to be sold off you just know they would end up in the hands of private developers who would only be after making a fast buck.

Festivals - Do you take your children to them?
MrsMcC replied to Saffron's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I went to Hop Farm festival 2012 and it's back on this year. We didn't take children but it was so easy going and not so far from home. If you're having doubts why not just get a day ticket this year to one you like the look of to see how you get on, for Hop Farm there's return coaches from Victoria http://www.thehopfarmmusicfestival.com/index.html -
Good news and thanks to those that signed the petition. Don't know where the petition starter got her info but reassuring to hear the response. My sister has a plot in Penge and friends also have in Dulwich, they are communities too and should be protected. As this e-petition has received more than 10 000 signatures, the relevant Government department have provided the following response: An e-petition has been suggesting that the Department for Communities and Local Government is examining plans to remove council duties to provide allotments. This is completely untrue and has no basis in fact. http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/61225

Kitchen extension ? To utility room, or not??
MrsMcC replied to mooncake's topic in The Family Room Discussion
If space allowed I would definitely have a utility room big enough to take the washing/drying machine, cleaning products, ironing board etc and still be able to move about in there to sort the laundry. In our downstairs shower room/toilet we have a megaflow and boiler which were along the same wall so we had a sliding door cupboard built right across, top to bottom, to house them. There's just enough space inside to also have 2 clothes airers, we don't have a tumble dryer but someone could put one in if ever they wanted to. I'm able to dry my washing, after a good spin, with the warmth from the megaflow/boiler or on a rad if needed quicker! Our washing machine is in the kitchen next door. -
We went for matt chrome handles and find they finger mark so have to buff them up with a damp cloth/tea towel more than I would like to have to! Also try not to buy without having seen the handles as the ones we got have sharp corners, it's not too bad for us as we don't have young children running around all the time but could be a worry if you do.

If you were to travel from Victoria take the 52 bus. We got off at the Albert Hall as we were going to the Science Museum with our 6yr old Grandson. Afterwards we walked around the Albert Memorial, then watched some roller skate hockey being played on the main path and had a lovely stroll through Kensington Gardens to the playground.

Nigello is that for real or are you taking the piss? You haven't lived if you haven't had a good cuppa in a cafe, granted some not so great but always drinkable, you need to get out more.
-
And the Bluebelle Cafe on Maple Rd Penge does a nice, large cuppa.

Last line nearly made me spit out with laughter my English Breakfast made with fresh boiled water, a good spoon stir then left for a few secs, no squeezing and to finish a bit of milk.

Anti social behaviour (a man urinating)
MrsMcC replied to cella's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thank you Otta. Nigello my house is clean and even use the toilet. B-N if I saw anyone pissing against anyone's door I'd have something to say but that wasn't the case here. -

If I may be allowed as a 'newbie'? Read through all of this and can't believe that it was posted in the first place. Ok pissing in a public place not ideal, but it happens, and with the amount of rain we've had not a hygiene worry! Hey we're living in London. although some of you think some kind of village, and yes I've been there and done it myself! If left alone I'm sure the bloke would have finished emptying his bladder, given it a shake, zipped up and been on his way. Not something any of us would would want to see on a regular basis but wftf! Yes a toilet stop in a pub or the like would have been better but an alfresco sometimes, with no disrespect intended, the only way to go ! PC Plod should have better crims to catch unless they are actively @#$%& and being perverse in a public place!! -
S0 feck the pizza and get out there and taste the food that rocks your boat! Pizza's a poor sub for real food....

Note to oneself - stick to looking for garden furniture in For Sale forum rather than coming on here after too much vino!! Sorry Louisa not at all what you were looking for, stand by what I said though! I'm from Edgware, souless place, Middlesex best forgotten although my Mum still likes it on her address HA8! Biggest up South London, best place I've ever lived, Brixton, Tulse Hill, Penge, God love ya. Best blokes (married one), pubs, parks and yes I've had a good Tuesday night!! Believe me Sarf rocks everytime :)

Thanks. Worth a go as it'll also be a prompt to remind people to actually say their item has sold, which should then mean all other items listed are still available......
-
Hi, can a Sold Items post be put at the top of the For Sale section asking people to edit their post when sold? I don't think people know to edit their original post in the subject box by writing sold rather that posting a new message below which then bumps it to the top and pushes down items still available. Thanks.

Or Crystal Palace, had a fab roast dinner at The Sparrowhawk last Sunday ?13 http://thesparrowhawkpub.co.uk
-
Thank you both. I was asking for my husband, more for keep fit, and the Harris Academies do have tables, at reasonable rates without joining fees, so will be checking the Crystal Palace one out.
-
Does anyone know where table tennis can be played in SE London/Bromley, thanks.

Re a Doctor's http://www.catormedicalcentre.co.uk and a Dentist if needed http://www.beckenhamdentist.co.uk both cover Penge. In ES mag this week Sarah Beeney says in 'Where to buy? The next affordable hotspots' - Catford & Penge, well located next to Crystal Palace, suffer from slightly odd names, but have lovely streets, beautiful buildings and parks and pubs. Some shops are boarded up, but it is getting smarter. Better get in quick! I've lived here for 8 years and love it :) There's a Craft Fair on today at Kenilworth Hall, Penge Congregational Church in Kenilworth Road, off Penge High Street down past Sainsburys 10am - 5pm

Eric Pickles, the Communities Secretary, is examining plans to free local authorities from a 103-year-old obligation to provide plots of public land for cultivation by gardeners. The proposals could see local authorities, many of them strapped for cash under government-imposed cuts, selling off allotment land for social housing or even for profit to major companies.
