I need some shelving for my garden shed. Approx 1.7m high, 1 m wide, 20-30cms deep. Good enough condition that it can be dismantled for transport [I have a bicycle!]

Since MIND on Lordship Lane removed its clothes and shoe recycling bins I've not found an alternative. Does anyone know where the nearest clothes recycling bins are?

Thank you so much for posting this. I was planning to go to the MAP site to ask for a copy of their report. But of course, the videos are so much a part of the experience. I set out to watch it and I found it unbearable. I had to switch off because the opening shot is of a bomb striking. Suddenly my house, my neighbour's, and my neighbours' neighbours' houses don't exist. I find it unbearable, and I realise that this is only a scintilla of the experience of those who live there. Please, please, give money to Medical Aid for Palestine, or Médicins Sans Frontières, or Amnesty. The world as seen from the eyes of politicians in Washington, London, Paris and Berlin is pure political calculation. They see what's happening in Gaza and Syria like players of a board game. I don't normally talk like this, but Biden, Starmer, Macron, and Scholz have blood on their hands. [I hesitate to name Angela Merkel - she did seem like a Prime Minister who had a powerful maternal instinct.

A spilt glass of water beside my laptop cost me over £850. The guys at the Apple Store Genius Bar said it could be repaired for £850 before VAT. John Lewis had a Black Friday upgrade for less. Any suggestions about what to do with my dead MacBook Air? They showed me a photo of tiny bubbles on the inside below the keys. Does anyone know of a charity which can use the parts, or even replace them to make it good enough to donate?

I would highly recommend Quick Print on Maxted Rd. Tel. 0207 6396764. They really are quick, and their prices are highly competitive, with special rates for community organisations and charities.

Good value local hairdressers (for women)?
Tosca replied to redjam's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thank you so much for the recommendation. I went to Shingo for a cut only and I will never go to anyone else. He was so painstaking and I left with a terrific hair cut. -
Once again I can highly recommend Aria and Danny - A.F.E. - came when they said they would and completed the task. They are friendly and reliable. Tel. 07739734895

Steve - 07941-344137 - has just done an excellent job cleaning my carpets and rugs. He was really prompt, helpful and efficient.

I've just had my old Samsung laptop sorted out by All About Laptops at 140 Rye Lane. Would recommend them; they're professional and helpful. 0207 635 5400

Thanks, Thunderblue600. I seems really important that people come out to the vigil whether Peckham or Dulwich or wherever in South London because we absolutely need to keep the streets safe for women. These guys (and there are no women out at night attacking women or men)need to know that they can no longer get away with years of making the streets frightening and unsafe for women. There's a poster doing the rounds, and I've attached it here. It's organised by people on the nearby streets. Just opposite the Liberal Club on Holly Grove at the gates to the park. Bring candles.

Late last Thursday evening a woman was walking away from Peckham Rye Railway Station through Elm Grove when she was attacked and raped by 2 men who wore dark clothes and covered their faces. The Met Police are taking this crime very seriously. There will be a vigil in Holly Grove this Friday from 6-8. Please bring a candle in a jar. https://news.met.police.uk/news/appeal-for-information-following-report-of-a-rape-at-peckham-rye-440736

I'm very happy to recommend Nick Broughton, who has just completed a built in wardrobe in my bedroom. I really appreciated the care and attention Nick gave to making sure the wardrobe really did fit snugly into the crooked walls and ceiling of my Victorian house. No mean achievement. His phone no. is 07815873373

Following Eileen's message, I'm attaching an A4 version of the flyer for anyone who would like to put one in their window.

I share Eileen's concern. What Peckham needs is much more social housing. We have known the disasters of the 60s and 70s tower blocks. There are so many examples of good schemes where there's a sense of neighbourhood and community - the North Peckham is a classic example of how social housing can be provided. A monster tower block in the midst of Peckham will stand out like a horrible eyesore, the flats will be anything but affordable, and the space around it won't have any sense of community.

Another recommendation for Aria and A.F.E. Plumbing. My washing machine leaked, and Aria sent someone round within the hour and got it fixed. Thanks
