  1. On Thursday, heading down Lordship Lane, I saw three 'Southwark Community Support Wardens', decked out in red jackets. They assured me they would be working over Easter. Then when I reached the library, there was a police car, plus around 10 (count em) coppers on board a number 12 bus, outside Costcutter. Interviewing the passengers followng some on-board fracas, no doubt. Further down the hill, two Police Community Support Officers. Louisiana
  2. We'll promise not to laugh any more shambles ;-) Just gently titter under our collective breath. So, DM, how many shoes? Don't forget, slippers, flip-flops, boots, all sorts...
  3. How about putting on 'Dulwich - The Opera' in the marquee on the Green. Right, off to watch Dulwich Housewives... Louisiana
  4. Just google the relevant words, and there are results there.
  5. Can't stand the Jowell. Casinos? What was that about? With the new influx to the Nappy Valley (or Nappy Vale), what I can foresee is not some Cameronesque campaign, but a Green revolution. What all our yummy mummies want are organics, free ranges, biodegradables, biodynamics, recyclables, free trades etc etc. Maybe Brighton (where Greens have been elected) is the model. Is the local Green Party aware of the changing demographic tides of ED?

No no, not Court Lane. Somewhat further up the hill, beyond the toll.
  7. Most certainly. I've refrained from making a single handbag purchase this spring. How many bags does a girl need after all? And a good bag will last a lifetime.
  8. Lounge or Quiet Room, yes. I think it would be fun to hang some choice correspondence on the walls. Can use flip-chart paper to attach (I have rolls of the stuff). Give people a flavour.
  9. dulwichmum I think we'd prefer it to be referred to as fuzz, not beards. Facial fuzz (soft and fair, invisible to all but the most close examination) has certain connotations; bearded ladies, something quite different. 'All the fun of the fair' would never again have the same meaning for us.
  10. And to think, it probably all started with nothing more than a hairbrush and an alice band :-S
  11. Mark - it can run on PC and on new Intel Macs, but not on pre-Intel Macs, is that right?

  13. I'll chip in with a fiver. The Tesco one looks not bad, and there's some wall space there to hang paper/posters from (so all info can go on the walls rather than on a table or whatever). So not just shelter from the sun/rain. Will anyone be able to store it for next year? This will be the first time in yonks that I'll be here for the festival (abroad 91-99, in Brighton after that, then always away because it's my birthday and went to see my mum). But this year I'm staying in ED and having an ED birthday with festival. Nice.
  14. You married a member of the panel? :))

Mr L is actually based in rural Berkshire, and whenever I go to the - only - newsagent's there, it's Daily Wail wall to wall, and the single copy of the Grauniad has gone by 8.15am. Louisiana
  16. No idea - only spoken on the phone so far!
  17. No, but I have heard there is in Dulwich a certain lane not unconnected with certain practices indulged in by a famous footballer.
  18. I cannot contain my excitement. I have today found a good and reliable window cleaner, plus I have a garden man coming around this afternoon. Together with Mr L offering (recompense for me obtaining Glasto tickets) to spend the entire BH weekend (a) taking me to various shops to buy things for me and (b) seriously attacking my garden with various garden implements, this is proving to be an excellent week. Plus, I am on the verge of ordering a lovely garden swing. Am I a bear of little brain? Louisiana

  20. I think it's gross. It blocks out all kinds of views over London too. And that grass bit in front: there always seems to be gangs of youths running dogfights when I go past.
  21. I agree, Huguenot. I wouldn't mind taller buildings IF they were visually interesting. But they rarely are. The example you quote is, as you say, not worth the bricks used to build it. Louisiana
  22. It's probably that green worm, tunnelling under Lordship Lane, trying to break into the banks. Louisiana

There's one entire chest (3 drawers, stacked shoes) with sandals. Perfect camouflage. And I have at least two pairs from last year that are still to get an outing (some fairly dressy ones) - just spotted them yesterday. Mr L needs to arrange a suitable outing - dusky pink silk trousers and dressy sandals just won't work on the bike :-S
  24. Actually Mr L really likes them too (on me), so maybe he just likes old-fashioned girls :)

Tried on about 60 different pairs, and they were the ones that looked best, so don't really mind if they're 'so last year'. Repeat after me, "I am not a fashion victim!". Louisiana
