  1. Has anyone else been woken up by an acrid smoky smell in the early hours around CPR/Darrell Road? Has happened a couple of times in the past month, most recently this morning.
  2. East Dulwich gets a (dubious) mention in Vice's list of London's "most heterosexual neighbourhoods". https://www.vice.com/en/article/pkgek9/london-neighbourhoods-straightest
  3. The Co-op on Lordship Lane also has a battery collection point to the right of the counter.
  4. Unfortunately someone attempted forced entry through our kitchen doors last night on Darrell Road. Luckily they weren't successful and the only damage was to the flower beds and the door lock. Just wanted to let people know to be vigilant and make sure your back doors are locked.
  5. The Denmark Hill vaccination site is at the Weston Education Centre at Kings.
  6. We don't have any experience of purchasing loft space from Southwark Council, but we were granted permission for a roof terrace as part of a loft conversion. We are mid-terrace and the roof terrace was only permitted on the basis that it is 2mx2m and doesn't take up much of the roof area. The pre-application process was definitely worth it and made the formal process run a lot smoother.
  7. Thames Water has confirmed there is a burst water main in the area which is affecting supply.
  8. Experiencing very low water pressure in Darrell Road for the last few hours. Anyone else having any issues?
  9. Quick Print on Oglander Road might be able to help - never used them myself...
  10. Hello all, I lost a key on a carabiner in Brockwell Park on the evening of Friday 24 July. If anyone finds it can you let me know? Thank you.

I have to agree. I can drive but do not own a car and live on one of the roads in the scope of the consultation. Whilst I appreciate that public transport will not be appropriate for everyone and every journey, I am in support of any measures that will mean fewer car journeys are made in the borough, which (according to my limited research) controlled parking does (Scientific American). Done sensitively, controlled parking can have a positive economic impact on an area.
  13. Nothing in Darrell Road either.
  14. ...and it appears to have happened again. With the builders? yard up the road it looks like this will be a common occurrence.
  15. We used William Wates of fedalah (www.fedalahltd.co.uk) when we needed a full structural survey of a property we were looking to buy in East Dulwich. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Thanks, @ed_pete! Very useful.
  17. I live on East Dulwich Grove, but am unfamiliar with historic CPZ proposals. Would someone kindly provide a brief summary of what was proposed and what was decided (if anything)?
  18. Assuming that one of you can drive, you might try Zipcar (or similar service) to hire a small van for a couple of hours. I have heard no complaints from my friends that have used these services for similar reasons.

The kedgeree was good (although the portion could have been larger), but it was a constant struggle to get the attention of the staff and the food and drinks took a good while to come. Which was darkly funny, having been warned upon arrival that we needed to be done with the table after an hour and a half.
  20. For those that missed it, a reference to "the growing pomp of East Dulwich" from the Guardian's "Let's move to Syndenham" article: http://www.theguardian.com/money/2015/sep/25/lets-move-to-sydenham-south-east-london
