  1. I am too shy to ask (blushes furiously) Yes I am nominated for the BiBs in Food category would greatly appreciate your votes https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BiBs2014Shortlist Kes you have my vote (in the Health category if anyone is looking)
  2. Thanks - I am not a professional photographer just an enthusiastic amateur!
  3. thanks you! I finally have some 'free' time to devote to the blog now I am freelancing from home again.
  4. Thanks for entering - good luck!
  5. I am giving away a Kenwood Mixer on the blog this month. Entry is very easy and would love for someone local to win! Link is directly below. http://supergoldenbakes.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/a-pavlova-cake-win-kenwood-classic-chef.html
  6. My work contract which was due to end on April 11th has been extended and I suddenly need cover for my daughter (aged 7) for the week of April 14-17. Are there any schemes or clubs in Nunhead/Peckham/East Dulwich during that week? She is already attending the Easter playscheme at her school the previous week.
  7. I wish I knew about this years ago.... but I think it would be for the best to come to a fair agreement. I will take some baked goods over and just ask what they paid!
  8. I will find out the cost. Thanks for your reply. I don't think my neighbours are inconsiderate BTW I think given the right conditions in the summer the noise just carries... Just wondering what the cost was when they build it - it won't be the same now as it was some time ago. Did you sign anything or go through any legalities?
  9. I am not saying I will not pay some contribution towards the wall. Just wondering if anyone has been through it and how much would be reasonable to ask. After all if we had contested this wall years ago they would not have been able to build it - we have lost most of the natural light and endured a lot of noise - not during building but from the endless parties and gatherings since. With 5 skylights I can frequently hear the conversations as if I was in the room. Anyway....
  10. I wish I could say it is easy... but it's not. I think you will find a balance and if your husband is able to do pick ups/drop offs then that's a lot of pressure off you. My advise would be to work four days a week if you can - maybe 1 day working from home. I find the balance is much better that way - working 5 days a week was completely exhausting for me. Not only did I not spend time with the kids, the house was in complete chaos!
  11. I don't think any money clause was written into the agreement - just the fact that it was a shared wall which could potentially be actually 'shared' if we build up to it. My project manager has not come across it before. I don't want to create animosity between us already before the project even starts (not due to start till end of summer - still in planning permission stage) but at same time it sounds odd. It's ok if it's a few hundreds but if we are talking thousands well then...
  12. Apologies for asking this on Family forum but feel it's only bit of EDF I know some folk on! Our neighbours did their kitchen a few years ago (4-5 can't quite remember) and they extended sideways - we signed a party wall agreement with them. We now would like to extend sideways ourselves - using the shared wall as agreed all those years ago. Our neighbour mentioned he wanted us to contribute towards the cost of the wall he put up since we will now be using it. Does anyone know if this is standard practice? We signed the agreement partly to keep good relations with the neighbours and partly with a view to perhaps extending ourselves and to be honest we would probably not be doing it were the wall not already built. any replies much appreciated!! thanks Lucy
  13. Is there an email? I got an appointment for my son yesterday (after waiting ages for phone line to clear) but my husband who was also calling about same thing (we had to double up to increase chances of getting through!) was given the whole Doc will call back spiel.
  14. I had a BB with Carly about a month ago. She was great and my hair did look fantastic for a few weeks though I have to say the spectacular results are a bit less visible now. I do have a rather stupid question though for those of you who have had a BB... Do you find your head gets itchy if you skip washing your hair for a day? I seem to have this and it's so pronounced it has kept me up at night. Either that or I have fallen prey to school lice... yikes
  15. Have you had it done with Carly? thanks for the response!
  16. finally taking the plunge and having a BB on my long straight hair. Convince me it's really worth it? I am just thinking of cancelling as ?100 (with haircut) is just such a lot of money.
  17. Sorry to hijack for non family related reasons... Trying to raise some money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Since I was unable to organise an actual Bake Off I am trying to raise a small amount through my blog. I will donate ?1 for every comment left on this blog post (up to ?100). http://supergoldenbakes.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/great-pink-bake-off.html
  18. Take a look at this. I plan to start doing just that. If the supermarkets got on board and created collection points that would make it even easier. What can you do to help? Buy someone #22mealsforacoffee (That?s 22 meals for the price of a ?3 coffee?) http://agirlcalledjack.com/2013/07/30/what-can-you-do-to-help-buy-someone-22-meals-for-the-price-of-a-3-coffee/
  19. Shameless bit of self promotion... you have been warned! Pink short sleeved leotard (Amy style) http://www.dancedepot.co.uk/p/A/Amy-Leotard.html 2. Pink wrap over Georgette (Tulip) skirt- http://www.dancedepot.co.uk/p/TUSK/Tulip-Skirt.html
  21. It seems that my son gets upset at home but he is fine at nursery. So I think he feeds off our reactions and my worry. I am going to ignore it for a while and not ask him if he needs the potty etc. He is completely dry through the night (whereas a few weeks ago his nappy was heavy and full) so I think we may have to move him to a bed (something I was avoiding as you can probably tell!)
  22. No infection. Hope now he's feeling a bit better he will improve overall. it s been a hellish few days
  23. Saw doc on Monday dipstick test was clear they have sent urine to be tested. Dont think it's UTI. He actually SAYS he doesnt want to let the pee go.
  24. My son was really not keen on the idea of potty training. He got very upset at the meres suggestion. Nursery kind of forced my hand to potty train him at 2y +8m. He had two days of many accidents and then within less than a week he was dry, in big boy pants etc. So far, so good. Recently however he started becoming very upset when sitting on the potty. He has been very ill with high fever since Sunday (a virus - no other symptoms) and I have noticed he now holds on to wees (and poos) for hours on end and when he eventually goes he gets very upset. Not sure what caused this as previously he was quite proud of himself. Am getting concerned and not sure how to reverse this. He doesnt pee in his nappy (only worn during the night) either.
  25. I have been blogging a lot in June and yesterday saw a huge surge in page views - although a bit unsure as to what caused that! I have joined a couple of Google+ communities - you may want to look into that if you want to share your posts with other bloggers. Also joined MumsNet circle of bloggers (unsure whether that means much yet)
