When babies refuse to go to sleep...
supergolden88 replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I don't think I can breastfeed any more. Fingers crossed he will allow us dinner -
I have had one of those days where I needed to be home (plumber coming etc) and then needed to be at nursery for daughter's Xmas show. Baby Sam (6 weeks tomorrow) did not really sleep much during the morning and when he REALLY needed to sleep I was at nursery where every noise woke him up. He catnapped maybe for around 20mins around 6ish. He has now taken more than 2 hours to put to bed and I doubt he is asleep now. He breastfed for ages and had some formula on top of that so I doubt he is hungry. He is just wide awake. I tried breastfeeding; putting him to bed swaddled but awake (stayed quiet for more than 20 mins but was awake whole time); rocking him (worked for short while). Am going bonkers. Do you think this is a growth spurt at 6 weeks on the dot? I would like to eat some dinner pleeeease (never mind sleep etc.)

Southwark Primary School Results 2010 Key Stage 2
supergolden88 replied to Dodo1's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Just looked at table and realised that Turnham in Lewisham came no2 with amazing results. We decided to send daughter to Ivydale instead which is bottom of barrel in Southwark. Am agonising over decision. My husband says it doesn't matter is behind our choice but I am not so sure. -
Thinking of the Deli or Green & Blue etc. Would like a thank you present for a friend

Baby feeds more then dies massive poo . We start the process all over again. Whatc the point of sleeping anyway? -
Xmas gift ideas for 5 year old girl
supergolden88 replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Lots of great ideas here I think the camera, scrabble and board games will be a hit of not immediately then soon. I love Lego but she has not shown much interest. Saw the plaympil school which she would love but it costs over ?100 and not prepared to risk her not ever playing with it! -
What with trying to balance working freelance with having a newborn I have neglected buying any Xmas gifts for daughter 4 1/2 (going on 10). Any ideas what to get her? So far have only managed to order her fancy dress costume and a doll for her vast collection. She is starting school in January and very keen to start reading and being grown up. May be old enough for some board games no idea which ones would be suitable. any ideas appreciated

Breastfeeding in the evenings
supergolden88 replied to radnrach's topic in The Family Room Discussion
just thought I would add that after having oversupply issues (too much foremilk) which made baby very gassy and uncomfortable I tried block feeding at La Leche League recommendation. This means feeding from one side only as other side gets engorged and uncomfortable in order to reduce milk supply. I only did this for one day and the next day I did not have enough milk. Unbelievable! I had to keep baby breastfeeding round the clock and pump a couple of times daily to build up supply again. Luckily only took one day to reverse it. I am amazed that the change was so immediate. And I have heard that Guiness has the same effect as ale. -
child benefit - how long till we get paid?
supergolden88 replied to millsa's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Wow KateW how did you manage to get a birth certificate so fast? My baby was also born Nov 5th but registration is not till Dec 7th (I assume that's when you get certificate?) Also where did you get the child benefit forms? I missed out on Bounty packs and the like... -
Forget knockers we have a doorbell that quite apart from being incredibly loud also frequently sticks and wont stop ringing until you unjam it. Other pet hate: cold callers calling to sell me insurance/tv packages/energy packages etc.

Foamy poo in newborn - help!
supergolden88 replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The info I have is from LLL - and it describes the problem exactly http://www.llli.org/FAQ/foremilk.html I am trying to do the block feeding (feeding from one side for a few feeds before switching) to see if it has any effect. The poos are yellow but very foamy/explosive and almost with every nappy. His nappy rash is not improving much as a result despite frequent changes, application of antifungal/metanium etc. Having said all that he is fairly content and seems to be gaining weight. The nappy rash is making him uncomfortable as is the excess gas mostly at nightime. He is very unsettled today which is unusual - he normally has at least one or two long good naps during the day. -
As if the terrible nappy rash was not enough I am now experiencing another issue with him - explosive foamy poo for past 4 days. He is also very gassy and uncomfortable at night. Been reading up on it and it seems I have an oversupply issue with baby getting too much foremilk and therefore lactose than he can cope with. My breasts will sometimes fill up while he is latched on even though they were fairly empty when he started nursing. Have not slept at all well last night as he was up feeding/unable to settle from 2.45 to 4am and again up at 6am so feeling overemotional and feel like am failing him. Have read up on strategies to solve issue but would need some support from others that may have experienced this. If you know of any breastfeeding experts I could turn to. With my daughter I had overacting let down but she never had the poo problem. Pls excuse spelling in post as typing on iPod in bed and auto correct can do funny things Have read up on what I should do but need support from anyone who has experienced this.

Can you take an EU visitor to your GP?
supergolden88 replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thank goodness GP saw her she has chest infection on top of terrible asthma. She has been loaded with medications I really hope she improves soon. Isidore Crown Medical Centre in Peckham could not have been more helpful today -
Bad nappy rashin newborn please help!
supergolden88 replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Gp has prescribed an anti fungal and Metanium hoping they will help his poor bum looks like it has had a layer of skin stripped off (which in fact is what has happened I think). GP was brilliant not only saw the baby with emergency appointment but also my mum who is only visiting the UK -
