LadyDeliah Wrote: 'Davis, don't give up. The EDF has become really boring because the same people jump on new comers and most of the interesting posters have left. I don't bother with it much any more because it's full of crap mostly nowadays, but your posts have been quite interesting so far and when the idiots get off your back and leave you to post in peace, I'm sure you will find others will engage.' ------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for the kind words and the positive feedback. It does seem that some members have adopted a very aggressive and patronising culture and are thus unable to engage with ideas but rather resort to insult and slander. I am sure they have their reasons (social, cultural, economic, past trauma etc..) but I just wonder if this is representative of their 'off-line' behaviour?

I just take offence to slander against me or others. I do not post much on forums and to be honest EDF is the first forum I have posted on for a few years and I forgot about some of the ignorant behaviour which occurs on forums. But as you said it is a just an internet forum... Never mind.

Well, you dirty my name and claim I am a troll but when challenged you say you are not interested. I repeat: would you bet ?100 I am not a university lecturer? Anyone can make claims and slander but are you willing to put your money where your mouth is? Or is this a case of throw mud and run?

Robert Poste's Child, I am shocked by the aggression and contempt on this forum by yourself and other users. What is it I said? Would you like to make a one way bet with me if I prove I am who I say I am? Bet me ?100? I will disclose my details to the forum moderator who can then confirm that I am a current university lecturer at the university of London, but my condition is the moderator does not make my details known. Do you accept Robert Poste's Child?

I appreciate you have highlighted my written mistakes which have occurred on a internet forum but does this really prove anything? Are my written mistakes more important than the issues and ideas I raise, why not engage with them?

Robert Poste's Child Wrote: 'This thread is turning into battle of the trolls. For all I know you could even be the same person'. I will no longer respond to posts by missteak as I feel it is pointless. Surely the forum moderator can check the different users IP address and identify who is who. Robert Poste's Child, I came to this forum in the hope of having a number of good discussions but I am beginning to feel this may be unachievable. In short I feel I have received quite a hostile response from established users as well as new ones.

It is important to point out that comparing animals to humans is floored and has it own dangers. For example, should animals who attack other animals be punished in the same way humans are punished for attacking other humans? Also should humans be treated as some animals are: for example should elderly and frail humans be executed by lethal injection as some animals are or should feral children be neutered as cats and dogs are?

missteak Wrote: 'Thses boffins with letters after there names should try a real job sometime. No one never learned nothing from no teacher' What is a real job according to you? Also where should people gain knowledge if not from a teacher?

No. The name Jeremy Hunt (Secretary of State for Health) has now become synonymous with Mike Hunt. Also just an observation in regards to missteak, just after creating his/her account he/she started posting negative replies to my posts, strange.

missteak Wrote: 'Academics are @#$%& on the whole'. @#$%& this could be any 5 letter word but I assume you mean something derogatory possibly a plural of a word which rhymes with 'Jeremy Hunt'. It is possible you reached this conclusion based on a number of quantitative research findings but I think it is more likely this view is based on your very limited view of the world. I can't speculate on the majority of academics but there are few which fall into your category as they have aided mass murder such as Bernard Lewis. Also academics do play a role in legitimizing government policies however corrupt. But there are also academics who stand up to corruption and oppression. missteak Wrote: 'No-one ever learned anything from books ever' Never ever? uncleglen wrote: 'And you learn even less from the telly- and the OP watches telly so cannot be a true academic (unless doing a PhD in some sort of media thing about the telly counts as academia)' Both can be equally harmful but you are more likely to find truths in books than the TV (under the current order).

aquarius moon Wrote: 'Davis is obviously a troll or doesn't have a clue about animal welfare. As for killing animals being a class thing, what were the royal family doing today?! Enough said'. I presume you do not treat people in face to face discussions with such contempt so why do feel you can address me in such a manner? I have not shown you contempt or aggression and I am therefore some what confused by your response. Also you have made absolute claims about me, either I am a ?troll? or I do not ?have a clue about animal welfare?. That is to say, according to your statement, there is no third alternative; however, can you prove either of your two limited possibilities? If not what does that make you? I had asked: ?can you please explain how you determined there is a 'class war' in regards to fox hunting and which classes do assume are at war?? Again, if you support such a notion all I am merely asking it that you explain and qualify it, that is all.

Loz Wrote: 'Don't be naive - the fox hunting kerfuffle has always had an odd class war side to it'. I am not being naive. It is a fair question. I always understood the anti fox hunting to be a animal welfare issue not a class one. But I am intrigued how you apply class to this issue therefore can you please explain how class is relevant to the fox hunting issue. ???? Wrote: 'Dave Spart ? ultra-left wing activist, always representing a ridiculous-sounding union (such as the National Amalgamated Union of Sixth-Form Operatives and Allied Trades), collective or magazine, which is frequently based in Neasden. Spart's views attempt to highlight alleged misconduct, prejudice or general wrongdoing, but often end up being contradictory and illogical. The name Spart is derived from the German Spartacus League that existed during World War I, and other subsequent revolutionary groups ' ???? I also came across that wiki article however, I was unsure if this is the Spart you was referring to do. But again forgive my ignorance I still do not understand your original comment: 'Class war, we love it......Davis Spart surely?' Are you suggesting I am similar to Spart? If so why?

???? Wrote: 'Class war, we love it......Davis Spart surely?' ???? I am sorry but your above statement does not make any sense to me. Can you please explain how you determined there is a 'class war' in regards to fox hunting and which classes do assume are at war? Also what do you mean by 'Davis Spart surely?' Sorry for the questions but I would like to understand what you meant.

DulwichFox the sad truth is the cruelty that segments of this population show to animals becomes insignificant when one realizes the savagery and contempt they show to other humans.

However, I do feel I am losing the battle to start a meaningful discussion on here.
