The catch is that I don't have to prove anything because I'm not making any claims. You want to believe homeopathy has memory when there is no solid argument in favour and no good quality evidence and reproducible results? Actually on the contrary it's been discredited over and over again. You can still believe in it, but don't expect more sensible people to consider you anything more than plain bonkers. Or are you saying that I don't beliueve god or any other some other east dulwich ghost because I have preconceived ideas?

I think one of the problem with East Duwich and surrounding areas is that there's simply too much crazy around. From homeopathy, to reiki, to all kinds of chi chi and a above all too many god botherers. Get over it, there's no evidence of mind over matter (yes there are still some things we have to explain but just because we don't fully understand some mechanism doesn't mean we can draw any conclusion that we fancy), there's no evidence that water has memory, and above all there is no evidence that there is some god (or many) or that he's the one you choose to believe in. And yes, there is no evidence or reasons to believe that our departed are in a better place, watching over us, or some other rubbish. Get over it, your beloved dead ones are just dead. Gone. Ceased to exist. Forgotten in a few years' time, and one day, before you even know it you all will face that same fate, some more horribly than others. Have a good weekend.

Could we ban single use carrier bags in ED?

Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- ... > If you ban plastic bags what's next? Shall we ban > religious freedom? Shall we ban people smiling in ... That would be awesome though. Since I moved to ED if I had a penny for every time I got stopped by miscellaneous god botherers I'd retire. I do support opinions and free speech mind you, as long as they are supported by evidence and reason. -

Would be nice to encourage cycling around the area by closing postcodes to motorised traffic other than buses and commercial vehicles. -
"Technical middle class" Hmmm ... " a small, distinctive new class group which is prosperous but scores low for social and cultural capital. Distinguished by its social isolation and cultural apathy "

You mean there are morons who take pride in being the subjects of a monarchy instead of citizens of a nation who democratically elect their (no matter how symbolic only) head of state? ...and that there are glass ceilings? That you are unlikely to get a job at certain firms unless you have been introduced through the right channels or been to the right school? That you will never go past a certain point career wise unless you have established certain contacts and allegiances as a child that you could only get if your parents were of the right pedegree and sent you to the right school? ...or that you are at a disadvantage applying for a job if your name is Jermome Mbadiwe despite being better educated and competent than a guy called James Spencer. It's messed up, but it's human nature and we still have a long way to go. Whist having a drink with a very senior person in another european country I witnessed this guy receiving a call from another very senior businessman in that country telling him off because he had employed a 'nobody' when there were kids of very 'good people' who needed to start their career in positions like that. In a north african country I was rebuked by an Arab because I went out on a date with a black girl. In the UK I had the worst time in my life at a company because it was hijacked by uber racist Afrikaaners whilst in yet another country I had some situations facilitated because of good deeds I had done to some Serbians (and I'm not Serbian). Now Afrikaaners kids ... those can be a nasty bunch. Those kids could have very well been Afrikaaners.

Had they been doing wheelies on pavements wearing suits I would have probably used some different but more derogatory term.

I don't think I've ever seen yummies on dirt bikes or Lambrettas, although I quite like the idea of girls on Vespas. Typing 'girl on vespa' in google and clicking the images link did not disappoint.

ultraburner Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Calling them chavs is the least of our problems. > They had tracksuits on fwiw. My bad I suppose as always assumed chav was an umbrella term for such scum. Looking up stuff on the web I learn there is much more to being a chav than being predominantly white, young, borderline criminal obnoxious and for all intents and purposes useless.

"what to do with" as in as in "do together with" or "do away with"? Science museum? Searching on the web there are plenty of ideas of science experiments too that can be cobbled together with household items. Learn the basics of a programming language?

Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Chav thing isn't really the issue for me, it was > more the "At best they'd make an organ doner." > attitude. Well, if someone doing dirt bike wheelies, without a helmet, on the pavement, had to crack open his skull against a lamp post I pity most the guys who have to clean up the mess.

???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > White working class=chavs discuss? I am of a port and rig upbringing, so hardly anything gets under my skin more than chichiness. Acutally ... those kids did.

Must say that it's the riding and doing wheelies on the pavement that irked me. Don't really care if they don't wear a helmet and get themselves killed as long as they don't hurt anyone else. At best they'd make an organ doner. Chavs ... judging by their attire and demeanour they didn't seem to be particularly smart or sensible and they all seemed too white to be playing east coast gangsta in south london.

Anyone has any idea who those tw*ts on dirt bikes are? Been scrambling down east dulwich road (and on the pavement) wearing bandas and doing wheelies. Seemed like white kids late teens maybe early 20s.
