  1. Thanks all. I think.... We'll probably use this opportunity and go quite rural and commute. The wife has visions of us growing our own veg etc. I was having a look last night at things to do in Birmingham and they have a whisky festival, so it's not all bad :)
  2. My wife's been offered a job in Tamworth, the kind of job it's hard to turn down. I know it's not that far north but it feels like a different world to me :( Anyone know anything about that area? Suggestions for where to look for houses? We've registered with these http://www.bairstoweves.co.uk/forsaleoffice/tamworth/264/ as we bought our flat with them and they feel familiar, but any other advice will be gratefully received... Also, are you still allowed on the East Dulwich forum if you don't actually live there anymore? ;)
  3. I did this with ours a few years, just painted it with some pale blue emulsion we had left over and it looks great. A friend of mine used gloss but that didn't have a very nice finish. Good luck!
  4. We also need to address the issues that are casuing the flooding in the first place though. It's a decision of what to spend the money on, this kind of thing, or trying to slow down the effects of climate change. Interesting read though.
  5. I don't know much about electronic cigarettes, what's in them etc, but I'd have thought that it's not a good idea to have something on a big billboard that even remotely looks like smoking. Anyone who just glances quickly could think it's an ad for 'normal' smoking, surely they don't wnat young kids seeing this and then trying traditional cigarettes?
