  1. I think mumsnet have a ton of threads on this Have you tried there?
  2. It's 60 boys in 90, which is two thirds. The % is definitely 66.6% If it was 60% there'd be 54 boys and the rest girls.
  3. Yes, more than likely an outlier. Unless there's some link to the credit crunch, which is when this dvi lot were conceived.

  5. So this is the 'theory' Male sperm has a Y chromosome, which is actually just a truncated X chromosome. Y chromosomes are therefore ever so slightly lighter than X chromosomes. Y sperms travel slightly faster as a result, Y and X sperms can be separated using centrifuging (one way of sex selection in other countries) due to this difference in weight. This is all proven and true. it goes on... X chromosomes are slightly slower and very slightly more sluggish, and as a result, they last longer (say 4-5 days?) Whereas Y sperm are nippier and don't live as long. This is more debatable as true imo. SO If you use ovulation sticks, you basically see that you're fertile and have sex as soon as it says positive. So the sperm most likely to get to the egg in time is the male sperm. so if you want a girl, you should try say 3-4 days prior to ovulation. That way only the female sperms will be alive when you ovulate. Opposite is true, if you want a boy, wait until the day you ovulate.
  6. Wild (but fun) speculation. It would be interesting to see the average age of the parents in DVI Reception. I've heard that boys may be more likely if mums use ovulation sticks (possibly bollox) So if this generation of mums left it a bit too late... and had to rely on OS, or used them for whatever reason. There may be a greater chance of having a boy. Higher house prices = leaving it later = more boys? :)
  7. UK inflation cooling more than forecast so rates likely to remain low for longer. Plus there's the election...
  8. Update - Depending on whether ppl are around. We hope to be meeting up on August 6th at 10am in Dulwich Park There are 6 of us on the list for this class. pm me if you want to be cc'd on meet up dates over the summer many thanks
  9. Hello If anyone else wants to join our meet ups, please pm me we have about 4-5 now in the Riley class on the list. Thanks
  10. Helpful advice MrsSW - thank you I now have about ten children keen to meet up over the summer. Do you know when we will hear about classes? As and when we hear, we could focus more on class meet ups. Makes sense.
  11. Hello, I was thinking of trying to arrange a few meet ups so the kids can get to know each other before September. We could set up some Saturday afternoon play-dates in Dulwich Park? We did this for our pre-school nursery and it worked a treat re settling i.e. having friendly, familiar faces in the first daunting few weeks of school. The kids seemed to like it too! ... sorry - it's Friday :) Please respond, or pm me your email address if you'd like to join in.
  12. I go away with work approx. once every 2 months for 3-4 nights for work. I hate the run up to leaving. I miss them before I've gone. But once I'm out of the door and on the plane etc, I'm busy and know they're in good hands. Time flies and then I'm home. It's the run up to leaving them that's hard. Not the rest.
  13. Unless you want to downsize, prices going up is not good. As it just means you're stuck where you are and can't move and/or have to pay more stamp duty as and when you do move. Plus take on a massive mortgage. Prices going up in a rational way is much more preferable. Or even falling, if you want to move up the ladder.
  14. You can call the planning guy at dulwich estate and get a view as to whether your plans would be allowed. Although that view can change... And you can't take their word for it etc Generally if the external part of the property is not changed in appearance, you'll be ok. Sounds like the bathroom alteration would prob be fine as long as the windows aren't changed. However the garage would prob still have to look like a garage after the works have been done. You definitely won't be able to increase the height of the garage for example. The d.estate planning guy will talk you through this.
  15. Most of the schools in the east dul area are good. You may find www.locrating.com a helpful website, put in the postcode area you are considering eg se22 or se15 and see what comes up. You can then do some more digging on here if you use the search function for a particular school. Eg of a good school: goosegreen ofsted '2' and great location (if you care about those ofsted rankings) plenty of others to choose from. There's a thread here that shows the catchments of last year, but they may shrink over time Also, many schools do open days so you can go and have a look around and get a feel for the atmosphere etc Good luck!
  16. Exciting - did anyone take a photo they can post on here?
  17. My take is it only seems to work when you have a nice boss/employer. Without that level of support and understanding, it would be too tough (for me anyway) Then get a home help to do cleaning, ironing, supermarket delivery etc Get sleep working Without sleep you'll go mad
