  1. personally didn't get through the first episode... awful. clich?d and patronising
  2. it was 'ok' coming home tonight. Congestion in the run up to E&C but frankly not that much worse than normal (which tbh has been bad for sometime). Once through the old roundabout, the traffic moved quite freely. i'll still be walking if I have to be in at a certain time but hoping that things will settle once ppl get used to it. A lot of buses just didn't really know where to go and looked a bit surprised and therefore much slower than normal. Same went for cars and bikes and people! I guess everyone will get used to it and drive a bit more smoothly in time.

  4. So terrible - does anyone have an update on how the boys are?
  5. I went too. Really liked it. Great service (esp as I was quite annoying by asking for a change in side dish which they did no probs). Lovely feel and will be going back!
  6. We pay ?96 for 22 hours and extra hours ?6/hour Includes 2x nights a week babysitting We have a separate cleaner our AP sorts out clean laundry, empties dishwasher and does school drop and pick from after school club 3x days a week and from school 2x days a week. I am on my own most of the time as my partner works abroad pretty much all the time... and I work FT, so having an aupair is a must. I like the company too. My advice to anyone getting an aupair is to be upfront with everything. It's very difficult to change things once you've started a routine. Over state what you need at the beginning. I can see us having aupairs for the next ten years! been really great addition and the kids adapt quickly when they're living with you.
  7. does anyone know when this will reopen? It says 2016 on website, but as we're nearing 2016, does anyone have a more precise date?
  8. Horrendous this morning. Avoid if possible
  9. My father paid 3k upfront cost to a house we regularly stayed in. We used to book thru cottages4you but started paying directly as we got to know the owners. Anyway, one year we couldn't get through. Did aa bit of research and it turned out the owners had gone bankrupt... they had tons of holiday homes aand had declared being bankrupt multiple times before. We'd been stitched up good and proper. Along w a load of other holiday makers. We have always since booked through a website for protection. We lost the whole 3k
  10. If you went through an online company, i'd contact them and explain. Perhaps they can find an alternative or it may even be that they *have* to find you an alternative or compensate you somehow. Then perhaps go onto some sort of last minute website and grab a late deal and go away?
  11. Its fine at the moment, in fact very clear as no one is in work or school.
  12. I would nip into gallery too? Even if just the grounds for a run around
  13. I like it. Lots of grass space and mini hills all fenced off from dogs etc. So you can perch on the top of a mound and keep an eye on the kids. It's perfect for a picnic or snack up there imo. If you've got time to kill, you can obv do the duck walk, gym equipment and then playground for the bulk of the day. Worth a shot
  14. I suspect the parking would be terrible. I park at a family's off street parking space. I do recommend the half car/train, half walk approach to work. It's the only exercise I do but better than nothing which I did before. A friend of mine was killed cycling into work, so personally that's not an option for me. Had a drink last night, so i didn't drive home. When that happens, I get the train to London bridge and walk along southbank thames to work, crossing the river at st paul's. It's a really lovely walk.
  15. I drive up to E&C every day and then walk the rest to Holborn. It's fine most days bar hideousness of kennington and building works. As and when I think it's going to be bad, I take the route through Camberwell grove, havil street, up through burgess park and Portland street. That pulls you out at the top of the Walworth road. I'll be doing that tomorrow during strike. It should only take 15/20 or so minutes from ED. I've done that through strikes before and although the traffic is a bit heavier - it's generally fine.
  16. Traffic app says it looks ok around E&C right now - is anyone actually there to confirm that?
  17. AVOID e&c today completely on your way home. This is the worst it has ever been since roadworks. Walk
  18. that may have been due to Rotherhithe tunnel being closed both ways due to critically injured man found on the road leading to the tunnel.
  19. The NHS is being cut each year. As demand grows (from population growth etc) the service has to meet that demand but using the same resources as the previous year. ... so you hear about NHS waste and the 'efficiencies' that could be generated by 'common sense rationalisation' ... I'm sure there are better ways of running nhs but mistakes are going to happen along the way.
  20. Just watching London news now. Another case of ambulance not turning up when they should have, to a man attacked for his bike. Pretty depressing and I suspect it's everything to do with cuts.
  21. I've been driving to elephant and walking to holborn since march, when the roadworks started.
  22. Hot wheels Marble run Bug finding stuff Water experiments Lego Hex bugs ... ipad then just give up and then switch on the tv
