  1. Be careful booking ,make sure you don't just book through patient access or online but confirm directly with the pharmacy .In my case there was no communication with the pharmacy and despite confirmation and reminders Day Lewis had no notification and no one available for my "appointment" .
  2. Sounds like a very costly suggestion grajm .And wouldn't the restricted access caused by the sharp bend and railway bridge at the Copeland/Consort Rd be a negative if bus stops were to be introduced? I think Rye Lane is plenty wide enough for road traffic if restricted to buses ,cyclists ,delivery vehicles .
  3. "Surely if one is upheld on the basis of incorrect or vague signage and then the council takes remedial action then a precedent has been set and all of the fines should be refunded for that junction?" excellent point ,though no doubt there will be an argument that they are just improving something that was adequate .sigh .
  4. Tomorrow also BARRY ROAD: From 08:00 - 17:00 on Tuesday 05 October and on Wednesday 06 October, route 12 is on diversion from Dulwich Library to Peckham Rye/East Dulwich Road via Lordship Lane and East Dulwich Road due to roadworks. Buses towards Oxford Circus will miss stops from Etherow Street to The Gardens. Buses towards Dulwich Library will miss stops from The Gardens to Goodrich Road. https://tfl.gov.uk/bus/status/?input=12&lineIds=12&direction=outbound
  5. Not sure of reason .Apparently 12 ,197 diverted down Lordship Lane and East Dulwich Road .
  6. Not sure about that Nigello . Finding it impossible to book an appt on line with FHR surgery I followed a link on their website and booked a slot on friday via patient access with Day Lewis .Despite ack.and two emails reminding me of appt .,Day Lewis had no notification and indeed no one qualified to do the vaccination on Friday .Nor did they know when they would have someone . Suggest anyone wanting to use Day Lewis phone them directly on 02082992707.
  7. It's an ongoing problem /forum/read.php?5,2228764 I got a package today ,posted from Havant on 12 August .
  8. Thank you hpsaucey . I just feel so much for the poor woman who had been so viciously attacked and who then experienced not only a null response from the police ( who said they could do nothing with the statements from the witnesses ,the photograph of the attack or the information regarding his first name ) but then patronised her with the "Gone are the days when we can put up wanted notices comment . She doesn't like revisiting the area but did so because she'd been told there was this event .And then it was cancelled with no notification to her . At least the lack of general publicity may have saved others who having personal or related experience of assault might have turned up and been disappointed .
  9. Thanks for replying rch ,no worries about trying to stay in better touch .I don't think it's down to you to inform the public about a violence against women event ! And it sounds as though you have your hands full . I just ...think it's cr*p .Almost as though there was no motivation . Let's not publicise it ,might add a few people to an email list and let them know about it .But who cares if we cancel it ,no need to advise people .
  10. "cancelled at the last minute due to the Wayne Couzens trial concerns" Yes of course ,might have meant staff attending would have been faced with tricky questions . out of interest Where was it publicised rch? I only knew about it because I bumped into a woman who was very badly assaulted on Peckham RYe in 2019 .Despite having a photograph ( taken by someone who witnessed the attack ) ,the first name of the attacker and two witnesses ,the police were spectacularly unhelpful, telling the victim "Gone are the days when we could post Wanted notices " .. The attacked woman was looking for the event as she'd been notified it was on .Imagine how she felt circling the park looking for it and now knowing that it wasn't worth the police's time to let her know it had been cancelled?
  11. Well that's an hour of my life I won't get back . And a further decline in my confidence in the police and commitment to engaging ( never mind serving ) the community .
  12. Although this event was mentioned the evening before in the What's On section it doesn't seem to have had any other publicity . Did anyone pop in ? What was it like ? I was walking with a friend on Peckham Rye yesterday and did look out for this but could see no sign .Possibly because the only location details my friend had were that it was to be held on "the east side of Peckham Rye Park "
  13. DulwichFox - this is a great read if you care to download it https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/library/browse/issue.xhtml?recordId=1104819&recordType=GreyLitSeries
  14. I'm sure this can't be the reason in your case but when this happened in an elderly friend's garden it turned out that someone in a house in a road running at right angles had a tap with attached hosepipe not completely turned off . Have you looked at old maps (local authorities often have these on line ) to see if there are any water courses ?
  15. Enid lived up the top near the library didn't she ?
  16. Did your grandmother live in ? Thinking if you PM'd me her name I could look for her in 1911 census ,1939 register ?
  17. I think tradespeople, who tend to know more about what they are doing than the person who requires their work ,can get a bit irked by the "job shouldn't take long " comments that are made . I don't mean that to be a particular dig at you Slinkissimo,it's just a little bug bear of mine .
  18. Oh dear ,I always put my blister packs in the recycling .
  19. isn't something SOuthwark arranges once you've applied to them ?
  20. The more you read the more horrific this becomes . Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/aug/19/what-lessons-should-the-west-learn-from-the-defeat-in-afghanistan David Vine: This was a corrupt war to its core Since it invaded Afghanistan, the US has fueled corruption in Afghanistan through CIA and military deliveries of bags of cash to Afghan power brokers and a system of bribes to ensure US troops remained fed and supplied. Absurdly, the US government has spent billions paying the Taliban not to attack convoys supplying troops sent to fight the Taliban. The vast majority of the $2.3tn the US government has spent or obligated for the war has gone not to Afghans ? corrupt or otherwise ? but to US military contractors (and those who bought US debt): a reported 80?90% of US outlays ended up back in the US as a ?massive wealth transfer? from taxpayers to firms in the military industrial complex, which have seen their profits and stock prices skyrocket. Beyond President Eisenhower?s worst nightmares, the military industrial complex has become defined by spiraling expenditures, fraud, and contracts lacking incentives to control costs. To keep the funding flow?ing, contractors have paid Washington DC lobbyists millions and made millions more in campaign contributions to Congress members who have inflated military budgets beyond cold war highs. The military industrial complex has become a system of largely legalized corruption revolving around entrenched incentives to wage endless war for financial and political gain. If we don?t end this system and the corrupting belief that war is a legitimate and useful policy tool, the United States will keep fighting endless wars. David Vine is Professor of Anthropology at American University in Washington, DC. Vine is the director of the American University Public Anthropology Clinic and a board member of Brown University?s Costs of War Project.
