  1. I agree TheCat ,i may seem perverse but actually I'm less interested in the name and want to know their role .And it's not always easy to be craning one's neck to get the name badge into the part of my varifocal that's going to enable me to read it .And it's taken me a while to remember that if someone in a hospital is in casual clothes and is called Mr Smith it's not because he's an administrator or pharmaceutical rep but a surgeon .
  2. ed - overdevelopment is a concept that planning authorities use and Southwark rejected this application on the grounds that it's massing and height was out of scale with neighboroughing properties . "The proposed development would disrupt the established urban pattern of development and relate poorly to the host building and the adjacent cinema building, being of a massing and height that overwhelms the prevailing scale of the local context." https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=QVIPI3KBGSO00
  3. I had the same feeling of interest - the windows left open on the old mini cab office .Very Marie Celeste.
  4. whereabouts?
  5. Heartblock hope all ok if you decided to travel.
  6. Are you from New Zealand legal ? "Number 8 wire is a 0.16-inch-diameter (4.064 mm) gauge of wire on the British Standard Wire Gauge that has entered into the cultural lexicon of New Zealand." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_8_wire
  7. May seem trivial but even with light winds they roll around in Barry Road banging into parked cars ,because of the slight hill I suppose . I've tried to corral mine and put a virtually empty one flat on it's side .I can't get them round to the back of the property ,access too narrow .Other ideas ?
  8. My vote would be no .It seems ok at the moment and people might be tempted to think the warnings are an over reaction ,but transport and roads will be affected by preemptive measures if nothing else .
  9. Gosh ,sparrowhawks ,corn snakes ,David Attenborough where are you ?
  10. I don't own a dog but I am aware of talk of a gastro bug doing the rounds .There were reports of a nos of cases near a NE seaside and now of cases inland . https://www.bva.co.uk/news-and-blog/news-article/mystery-dog-vomiting-bug-cases-prompt-veterinary-advice/ Whether it's "just" a seasonal thing like norovirus in humans I can't say .Sorry ,no help ,I know .But I do think if it's on my radar as a non dog owner that maybe there is more of it than normal .
  11. "If I have any questions about their qualifications or their role, I ask questions and if I don't get the answer I want, I ask to see a doctor there and then" my writing style is v long winded ,apologies I would rather a HP told me their role ,I'm prob.old fashioned ,but I feel rude asking . I don't subscribe to a strategy of asking another person a question if I don't like the answer from the first person I asked . As for asking to see a doctor there and then - you'd expect a doctor to stop what they're doing ( seeing a patient ? ) and immediately come and deal with your queries . And how would that work on a telephone consultation ?
  12. Jazzer " Was told I "needed" to have a long term health condition check with a Health Care Assistant, eventually was offered a double appointment because that was what was "apparently" needed. I was seen by a new qualified (HCA), he took my weight, height and blood pressure and spent 20 mins doing this. Could have been done in a 10min slot. What did I gain from the appointment, nothing, its a tick box exercise by FHRGP." I hear you Jazzer .I have yearly medication reviews and have found the pharmacist helpful and professional .But the phone review I had the other week was not by him but by someone else .I'm sure she told me her name ,also sure she didn't mention her role . I found it so off putting ,I also have yearly blood tests which Leslie the pharmacist was always happy to arrange .But this person seemed determined to argue wanting to know why did I want them ,when I explained it was post cancer surgery which had removed part of my stomach ,she wanted to know why the hospital wasn't organising them (it was 10 years ago ) .Then she pointed out that they weren't due until next month and wronlgly quoted me as saying I had all of my stomach removed .But whatever, I would need to make an appt with a GP for a blood tests Then she moved on to her tick box exercise re pre diabetes -which my last bloods had shown I was no longer classified as . Did I exercise ?,did I walk ?,how much did I walk ..blah ,blah blah. I don't want to have to argue to get blood tests which I've always had as a standard ,I don't want the practice's agenda to be forced on me with no regard to my queries and health .I don't want want to be ambushed with a survey that I don't find helpful but which I suspect entitles them to additional funding . And having a medication review before results of blood tests is illogical and wastes everyone's time .
  13. "others, which were attached by elastic band to my package, for houses further down my street" that does happen occasionally ,and TBH I think it's pretty forgiveable at the moment . -
  14. I'm very happy to have two packages which I had given up on .I had feared that a huge backlog would inevitably result in lost items .One of my packages had a damaged wrapper and the address was hard to read . I think credit is due to those delivering the backlog - they are doing a good job.
  15. "Because they were 2D barcoded, RM could readily outsource them because they would know what was overdue and reconcile this with what they needed to outsource" I don't understand this ,could you ,or someone else ,enlighten me ?.
  16. Interesting cidolphus .I got backlogged mail this evening - about 8.20.It appeared at the same time as a Yodel delivery of 2 parcels .One of which was for someone else several streets away . My guess is that Yudel also delivered the mail ,which was actually 3 small packages .Franked 12 Dec .
  17. Do you know when you think you dropped him ? Was it today ,Sunday ?
  18. I'm on Barry Rd and have seen postal workers delivering both letters and packets today ,Sunday . Hope I get the 2 long outstanding items I'm waiting for soon .
  19. Maybe post here? https://nextdoor.co.uk/neighborhood/eastdulwich--London--England?source=neighborhood_name
  20. Lower Forest Hill - is that the area that encompasses Sainsburys ,The Weatherspoons in the old cinema , Forest Hill Station?
  21. Postie I spoke to today said they are now getting some extra help .
  22. Thanks for posting Loki .
  23. Pointlessly ,but out of curiosity,I'd like to know more about the sorting process and at what stage items are franked .
  24. A few Christmas cards filtering through here .No idea when posted as they are not franked .So I guess that as I can reuse the stamps represents a sort of compensation . I now routinely think of work arounds ,the copy of the marriage certificate I want to fill in a blank on a family tree ? Posted to a friend in another part of the country for them to photograph and send to me . But that won't help people waiting for essential documentation .
  25. In case anyone has missed this Line of Duty interview taking BJ to task . https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/01/18/watch-led-by-donkeys-video-sees-line-of-duty-probe-boris-johnson/
