Post box collections
intexasatthe moment replied to intexasatthe moment's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Oh dear, looks like it's going to always mean a trip to the Post Office. Damn. -
It seems to me that using post boxes as opposed to leaving mail at a post office results in delayed delivery. I'm aware that collection times from many boxes is now 9am and not the old 4.30 /5 pm time. But a recently posted first class stamped letter took 5 days to arrive . Is it just me ?

Bad luck Alice. Agree with Heart block and Sue's excellent posts. I did find when I had it earlier this year that it took a long g time before I didn't have a positive test. -

Poor Performance of GP Surgeries

Thanks for comments. I think I'd conflated ultrasound scan with CT scan and D assumed if they could refer for the first they could refer for the latter. -
Poor Performance of GP Surgeries
intexasatthe moment replied to Penguin68's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Speaking to GP at forest hill rd yesterday , told that she couldn't refer me for the CT scan that was required after the ultrasound scan I'd had was unclear. Instead I'm being referred back to ST Thomas's where I had surgery 10 years ago. Surgery could be linked to issue under investigation so I can see logic of this. But don't understand the clear " I can't refer for a CT " is that the case(some?) surgeries can't refer for CT scans? Am I being dense ? -
Came across this Intro of new IT https://selondonccg.nhs.uk/what-we-do/epic-implementation-2023/ and found it interesting , especially this extract from advice To Gps file:///media/fuse/drivefs-23422b7b853ebb5ad1dbceed2c9c361b/root/Apollo-overview-for-GPs-KCH-and-GSTT.pdf In line with other Trusts who have launched new, large-scale electronic health records, both Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s are planning to reduce the amount of routine, planned care activity we carry out in the run up to, during, and after go-live of the Epic system. Urgent and emergency activity will be running at normal levels. - This will help ensure the system launches successfully, with minimum impact on the care we provide for patients. However, we do appreciate this will mean extended waiting times for some patients on the waiting list for routine planned care, and further information will follow ahead of launch detailing how this will be managed at both Trusts in a way that keeps the impact on patients to a minimum. - Synnovis is also planning delays to the processing of routine tests while they embed the new Epic system. More detail on this – including the potential impact on GPs requesting tests – will also be provided in due course. and this Pathology activity in GP practices should be reduced to 10% from October 5 to October 9. During this time only urgent pathology requests will be processed. Following this period, routine pathology activity will increase each day over a period of two weeks until normal levels resume. We will continue to keep you informed as we progress. You will be able to order tests but you will need to ask patients not to book tests before October 9 as they cannot be processed by the laboratory. It is important not to take routine blood or urine samples from patients during this time. Please note that samples cannot be stored, either at the practice or the laboratory, because they will degrade. As you undertake your planning we request that you divert resources or appointments between October 5 to October 9 for other activity such as cervical smears or vaccinations. Urgent samples will continue to be processed and some community and non-urgent services which will continue as normal. from https://selondonccg.nhs.uk/what-we-do/epic-implementation-2023/ I've used the expression "short term delay" because I was trying not to be alarmist. Given the pressure on the NHS,I feel any delay will have a ripple effect and cause delays down the road.

I would have liked to attend Southwark's meeting at the library on Wednesday. I see that you need to book as " space will be limited " Having tried to do so, I've been put on a "wait list". Have others found the same ? Any ideas on how many lucky people will be allowed to attend ?

gaby -so glad you recommended Milford .I had a problem with a radiator ,phoned him yesterday (Sat) and he was with me on Sunday morning . He sorted my radiator ,happily looked at some taps for me and will be coming back to fit a new pair and install some isolation valves . He was so nice ,easy going and clearly knows exactly what he's doing .Honest and kind . He says he works within the M25 circle .

Maybe I'm less tolerant than others or less understanding of how a faster internet trumps all ,but I'm a tiny bit pissed off with the disruption . I guess it's easier and possibly safer for pedestrians to cross over and use the pavement on the opposite side than it would be for traffic to be incommoded ,but I do feel for those with pushchairs and toddlers . It would have been nice if some effort have been made to clean off the mud all over our path across our forecourt to our front door .Even nicer if the excavation hadn't undermined the adjacent two paving slabs at the end of our pathway causing them to subside. They weren't completely level before work began so it would be hard to argue for making good .I hadn't realised they would be digging so close otherwise I'd have taken photos . Then there's the coincidence of a water leak being discovered exactly where the digging was taking place .And now the disappearance of the workforce . Though in truth the word workforce could only be used to describe one third of the 3 guys outside my dwelling .Unless you count leaning on my fence while watching your youngest colleague as work.

More than disappointed.Entitled pr**ks. Although ..I guess they'll stop when a hosepipe ban comes in and maybe they're anticipating this .
