Well, given the panic behaviour of the general public and the price gouging that went on I think the Government were right to err on the side of caution and not insist on masks at the time. Even though there were instructions everywhere for how to make masks people would still have bought them in bulk like they did everything else
  3. Loads of people flouted the rules from day 1 and are STILL flouting the rules as the idiots seemed to think (I wonder why???) that Dominic Cummings gave them carte blanche to do just what they liked. So- it matters not one jot what Boris Johnson said or did because they would've done what they wanted anyway! https://apnews.com/c42eabe1b1e1ba9fcb2ce201cd3abb72

Loads of people flouted the rules from day 1 anyway and it just got worse....we had no chance since millions of infected people left China with the blessing of the WHO
  5. Just been there- many people, (including some staff with them half on or not at all) NOT wearing masks but on the whole the elderly are wearing masks....
  6. There is a massive list of bye-laws associated with using a park.
  7. the irony is that the younger ones are spreading it about but it's older people who will get locked down!
  8. Around the beach at Burton Bradstock which is East of Westbay there are a lot of fishermen in the evenings btw. Also Tyneham village still has it's original look (old school house, children's books etc)and it is in the middle of the M.O.D ranges (that's why it was not inhabited) which are only open after 31st July for the holidays. And there is the Fossil Forest further on also in the Ranges which you can access by walking up from Lulworth Cove.

I agree...we are all living in increasingly cramped spaces and what with the vehicle pollution, noise pollution etc adding unnecessary pollution is just anti-social. I assume the OP has a garden- I put old wood at the back of mine and let it rot- you never know it may provide a home for insects or other wildlife...
  10. I can always tell if any neighbourhood cats have deposited in my garden because of the number of green shiny flies around + the smell. Apparently the green shiny ones like dead things too.
  11. I had trouble contacting an officer on Southwark council- it turned out that her in-box was always full!

So that lowlife is a FRIEND of yours- says it all really.
  13. Very interesting stuff about Covid from Matt Ridley....specifically starts at about 35 minutes in.
  14. I sincerely hope that our health and well-being is not being neglected for political purposes. https://www.theargus.co.uk/news/18403861.coronavirus-brighton-sitting-millions-owed-struggling-businesses/ for example
  15. This is why https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8567225/Chris-Whitty-DEMANDED-ministers-Spain-UKs-quarantine-list.html See the bar chart further down the page comparing the 3 worst areas in the UK with the three worst in Spain

The headline says Brits but further down the page it also said Germans were acting irresponsibly....typical denigration of OUR youngsters from the rag
  17. All Southwark seem interested in is shutting down roads and a bloody football stadium!

An older relative of mine found that the only exercise she could comfortably do was swimming as she had severe arthritis- not everyone can pound the pavements or cycle
  19. Check your travel insurance in the first instance if you think it's a con.
  20. You should have a Housing Officer who would have contacted you at some time during the Covid-19 lockdown as you have a vulnerable adult in your home. I would suggest you contact your Housing Officer

Everyone in broadcasting is 'fixed in their views' because if you aren't, in this climate they come back later and bite you on the bum! Julia Hartley Brewer has her head screwed on ...but I doubt if she would ever kow-tow to the BBC

I'm sure the tax payers of Manchester, Liverpool etc would love to know they are subsidising London!

Also it doesn't exactly encourage going to local schools or fitness either,

People who have breathing problems like asthma for example cannot wear masks and should download the badge https://disabilityhorizons.com/2020/06/face-mask-exemptions-how-to-ensure-you-dont-get-fined/ I am not exempt but I cannot wear the cotton masks as they are too closely woven but I can wear disposables or t-shirt material.
