dulwichquine replied to a topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Birthday card sent first class post seven days ago still not turned up seven days on. We've not had post for days. Terrible service. -

I had a flurry of Christmas cards today, including first class post from Dec 7. Why bother. -

Hello Is anyone still waiting for Christmas parcel or cards? -
Post not being delivered by Royal Mail

We have also received delivery today that had been originally posted on Oct 26. I went to sorting office to see what was going on and they said there was a big backlog they are trying to clear and that they were trying to draft in extra people. I dread to think what Xmas deliveries are going to be like. It's a terrible service now. -
Based on EDF reviews, we asked Andy to sort out a tricky, messy, gap around a large roof light that needed filling in. He took a great deal of care to find the most appropriate solution, which involved a couple of visits instead of doing a rush job. He wanted to get it right. It was worth it. Happy customer and happy to recommend.

Still missing our Christmas post. Had a very small delivery yesterday, first in more than two weeks. But waiting for rest of it. Really disappointing performance. How long can this go on for?

We've had no post since last Thursday. Dreadful service.

Royal Mail..parcels not being delivered
dulwichquine replied to Oneredfish's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've been waiting on a parcel posted Sep 6 and still not turned up. Was supposed to take two business days. No attempted delivery. And a birthday card has arrived, opened, with money missing. Thanks Royal Mail. -
Elliot has just finished a door frame and door installation. Went the extra mile to deal with tricky space and final touches. Agree with above poster, tidy, efficient and high standard of work. Very happy to recommend.

It took me 45 mins to drive to Townley Road from Tulse Hill gyratory this morning via Herne Hill after a garage repair. Traffic nose to tail along Norwood Road. Such a convoluted journey and traffic now clearly being pushed onto other roads from closures in Dulwich Village. This is not a good solution!

I cycled to work via Townley Road and onto Greendale yesterday. Shocked at traffic queues. Cyclists, including myself, are having to cycle in middle of road, weaving our way through till we reach the traffic lights. Far harder to cross the actual junction now, as well, given huge increase in traffic. Feels more dangerous than before.

How late to cycle through Burgess Park at night
dulwichquine replied to dulwichquine's topic in The Lounge
Thanks for the replies. I was about to hit the park for the first time in dark at 7:30pm last night, coming off Albany Road at Portland Street. It looked v dark and quiet so kept going along Albany Road and did a dog leg round to join at the other side. Replies noted. Think I'm going to add a few more minutes by doing it this way. -
Hello, I am a newbie cyclist. I?ve been using Burgess Park to get to work and back. Now it?s getting dark, how late do more experienced cyclists feel comfortable with when cycling home through this park at night. Feels like it may get very quiet in winter. Any advice/tips appreciated. Thank you!

Woohoo - just got our wedding anniversary card, three weeks and two days after it was posted from Barnes. Unbelievable. Still waiting on birthday cards. Wonder if we should tell our friends and family to start posting Christmas cards in November.
-
We finally received our missing parcels, too. Still missing a letter.
-
Is there a petition underway to oppose the changes through Dulwich Village/Calton Avenue? If so, can anyone post a link?
-
I went to the sorting office today to try to find out what had happened to my parcel, still sitting there since Aug 26. They told me there's still a big backlog of parcels. It could be there, but maybe not. They have no idea. Helen Hayes MP apparently visiting tomorrow. Instead of 40 staff, they have ten. Letters/cards taking at least 10 days to arrive to our house. Totally unacceptable.

First class letter took 12 days from Aberdeen. Where can we register complaints? Anyone know?
-
Been waiting on a card posted from Scotland first class from last Monday. We've two missing packages posted many days ago, too. Really poor service.
-
Was driving through the village on Friday afternoon and was quite surprised how heavy traffic was as well as the tailback at the EDG junction. And this is during summer hols. Lots of kids walk along the village to schools, too. And on East Dulwich Grove. Also surprised at traffic on Townley Road exit. Looks like the signal priorities have changed. I fear it's going to be awful come September.

Just wondering why the council has closed the DV junction just as the schools are closing?! If deemed necessary to protect school children, why not do it for when schools re-open?
-
I've just read the proposals for Dulwich Village junction. Has big knock on effect for nearby residential streets. Seems pretty clear the council is just pushing through the changes it originally wanted to do through the Healthy Streets initiative even though the results have still not been published. Temp junction closures will become permanent, despite the views of local residents.

Thanks for responses so far. We do have a cycle to work scheme which I would try to take advantage of but scared to commit unless I know I can handle it. Will have a look at fat lama.
