  1. If you can get russell then great. Fantastic roofer. Honest and a nice guy. Sadly though now unreliable. We booked him in months in advance and he then ghosted us having pushed back the start date 4 times. We now have a leaking roof for the winter and a young baby (which he knew was en route and why we were booking so far in advance) so not ideal. Glad he's still working as had assumed something bad might have happened to him as that behaviour was completely out of sorts. Had used him a number of times previously and now at the mercy of the biggest cowboy traders who are roofers in general.
  2. Clutton Cox must have heard of Glazer Delmar if 2 of their partners, Glass and Redmond, are registered with the SRA as working at Clutton Cox... I'm not sure if Glazer Delmar were an LLP (doesn't look like it, but everything to do with this seems so fishy as it's too incompetent) however if not you should be able to choose any one or all of their partners and sue them personally if they refuse to return money or are/have been negligent. Have you checked your engagement letter also re complaints/disputes? May be worth an email to Redmond and Glass asking for a prompt response as to what's happening failing which you will have to consider next steps? Could be one to put on the MP's radar as this will be affecting a number of constituents....
  3. They apparently have another office: https://www.sra.org.uk/consumers/register/organisation/?sraNumber=70939. A Firm can't simply close down without arrangements in place to store/access deeds (especially Wills) and other important documents they hold, unless they have arranged to return them to the owner. The Law Society or SRA should definitely be able to help.
  4. I really rate 148 (as someone who was brought up in the Far East) for the food and also service. You clearly had a different experience and more than once, which is a pity. Hopefully a one/two off...admittedly we've only ever eaten in. Please give it the benefit of the doubt, others!
  5. I've found also that the Nectar lower price hasn't always been applied on 3 recent shops on various items. After the first shop where i noticed (likely happened many times before) I check the Smartshop scanner to see if it's been applied and if it hasn't then photo the shelf-pricing... you then have to get a refund at customer service. Not very efficient/a pain but would have spent over £5 more on 3 items. You won't be able to do this without using Smartshop unless you photograph every item at the shelf then go through them and the items on the receipt. Oh, and to get the refund you must also present the item at the customer service desk (not just the receipt and photo). I had to go to the car first time to recover ice cream.
  6. Welcome to post COVID world. Cabbies can't be bothered to exert energy to make that money. Buses shite/survive is as no bus lanes exist as the woke new ldn brigade who don't have families to take to school (yes you woke turds... when/if you have children they won't necessarily be allowed into the same state school) have got the bus lanes closed, and intro/supported ULEZ/under utilitised cycle lanes, and all other anti traffic measures (LTN money making schemes... forget the poor on the periphery sorts).. It's what these people with no responsibility do aside from being in transport policy and F'ing up normal south London peoples' lives. #welldoneyou
  7. Please can you share this address? If the authorities won't assist then perhaps others will. As they should.
  8. If you went through the Village during the morning rush hour, even when only some of the school years were back, you would see the traffic jam extending from the crossroads near North Dulwich station to Dulwich Picture Gallery as the traffic light phases haven't been changed. Idling cars means a mass of pollution. Burbage Road is now more of a rat-run than ever. Yes there are other ways to get around, but for some people the only viable way to get 2 children to different schools by a certain time means that driving may be the only possible option; yet it now takes even longer to drive between them. And the delay then impacts on the parent's working day. I'm not sure how Melbourne Grove's closure has impacted, however at least there are a few main roads to use. I understand something needs to be done, but it seems again that policy is being dictated by transport planners at the Council who have a blinkered view on everything: "I'm fine on a bike"; "children can walk or be walked to school" (which in an ideal world they all could be within easy walking distance). I'm sure there will now be more vitriol about it's the entitled Village brigade in their tractors etc. I would be happy with the junction closure had there been some sort of contingency planning ie addressing other routes, however it seems to have been like erecting a flood defence without considering where the run-off will go and causing potentially more damage as a result. The pollution in the Village at rush house is likely to now be far higher than it was before. But we'll have to wait to see the real impact when the schools go back at the end of the Summer holidays (or later...)
  9. Another recommendation for Russell Perring and his team at RJP Roofing. He gave a very clear explanation of what work he needed to do and the materials he would use, so that there was never any doubt as to what the quote covered. We got a quote to fix what can only be described as a catalogue of botch jobs by our predecessor's roofers, and by a couple of others we'd got in because we had water flowing down our walls at different points (and so went with those with quick availability... there's a reason for that). We got a quote for repairs to party walls, replacing all flashing (including gullies), to put coping stones on, and to re-do the render which one of our previous roofers had messed up. We also had a velux fitted and the surround plastered. I then spoke with Russell again for a quote on replacing the entire front roof, which obviously increased the price (but on economies of scale it wasn't too much of a shock). Russell said that he didn't think it needed replacing, but when I said to go ahead he said it was the right choice. When I asked about a couple of other things he would say not to worry as they had years left in them (even though they looked to me like they didn't). Short of which is Russell was not trying to squeeze more money out of me. He and his team arrived every morning when they said they would, worked solidly for 8 hours and then tidied up every night before leaving (including the neighbours' gutters and front gardens). The work was completed in 4 days. The plasterer came in during the last afternoon and so there was no lag/delay. The day after finishing the work one of Russell's team came to the house to clean the attic. It helps also that Russell and his team are very nice and pleasant, and even take their shoes off when coming into the house. We have finally found a roofer who I can trust, and who has done a superb job.
