The 'dog-wee' story beggars belief! I have given the shop a wide berth since having trouble buying knitting needles a year ago - the man apparently knew better than me what kind I wanted (I made the mistake of turning down plastic/bamboo when he didn't have the size I wanted in metal) - then he said he wasn't fussed about the business because 'we're only talking about ?3.95'. I did try to give him some feedback about his customer service - er, but that didn't go down very well. So I've spent an interesting ten minutes following this thread reading similar tales about his unappealing manner! Back to John Lewis haberdashery for me ....
