  1. Avoid companies that are run by non trades people Seems to be the trend lately. Check them on Companies house first. There are some great family companies or sole traders. LMQ Roofing 07860 467708 lmqroofingservices@outlook.com ANR Roofing 08009330439 Fist on my list is Liam McQueen https://www.lmqroofingservices.com/ Honest, reliable, constant updates, proper written quotes professional and lovely polite workers. Great work. Also though we did not use them in the end ANR Roofing based in Wimbledon offered some sound advice and quote. Also very lovely family run firm. And Crest Roofing based in EC1V 2NX came and gave a quote and seemed very lovely with some advice also. 07934 975769
  2. Had a terrible experience with this company recently. Their rooofers were abusive and really not nice. Simple job to remove an aerial which we knew would mostly cost in scaffold turned into a nightmare, They dug up old rotten boards in our front garden (there for beetles) and use under the scaffold. When we questioned the positioning of the scaffold (we needed it down the side and not on top of plants and garden) I received a torrent of offensive teenage sexist shouting. The main guy doing this was called Jimmy. They did eventually remove the aerial (no tools to do so I had to supply) They told us the side of the hip needed new timbers and re-roofing. We'd recently had it inspected and it looked good (I'm a carpenter by trade and went and looked at rafters inside - no issue. They seemed to take offense at my carpentry knowledge also. They pulled ridge tile off then told us it would be 3200 to repair!! Stood on a non load bearing lead canopy and more. Left cooked food and rubbish in garden, Just avoid them is my advice. One of an ever increasing number of firms owned not by trades people who subcontract and pay the scaffolders pennies. I'll do recommendations in another post!

  7. Hi there, I'm a professional cycle instructor and British Cycling coach. The main things when cycling in traffic are: Communication - eye contact looking behind signalling Observation - looking ahead looking behind where are other other rosd users Priority - who has it? Positioning. And yes to do have to relearn some new habits like covering brakes. I have seen many children out cycling with adults which is great. However we would always recomemEnd you have them in front of you. You should all ride out of the door zone. You can signal better, look behind and of course always be able to see them. Yes i do know a mother who lost her son once as he was not looking where she was when she turn left. I'm doing private lessons - enhance your riding in traffic for individuals and families(Boroughs not sorted out delivery yet and funding issues!)And accompanied rides to work etc I've been cycle tutoring a good while locally (coached at Herne Hill velodrome helped set up the popular HHYCC)) And all over London. And indeed South East So do get in touch if interested. Fully DBS and accredited. Also bike check as art of lesson. Take care.Stay Safe Judith Bonner

  10. In our household we are still in lock down. Remember over 50% of people with COVID19 are asymptomatic. And judging by a recent shopping trip people are not very careful with others. Spare a thought for postal workers who have been delivering huge amounts of post for 12 weeks - and some really none essential stuff. They are classified as essential workers. No pay increase or additional staff. So basically risking their lives to get post out. Still all going into sorting office at same time in morning with little room for SD. And no extra staff even to clean. Some sorting offices closed for several days due to incidence of COVID. So bear with them. Our postie says its been like Xmas size volumes of post twice over for 3 months now. Not many jobs where whatever the weather you have to walk for over 3 hours no break.

  15. Why on earth shop there? Israeli settlements are built on stolen Palestinian land and are illegal under international law. And Sainsbury?s uses suppliers that trade in products from illegal Israeli settlements. At least the Co-operative stated that in line with its ethical policy it would ?no longer engage with any supplier of produce known to be sourcing from the Israeli settlements?. And whats there that you canot get at a local shop? Best carrots in Dulwich are at Pretty Trad - do a taste test.... Then call on the Sainsbury?s CEO to stop stocking goods from companies that do business with Israeli settlements. See more at: http://www.palestinecampaign.org/sainsburys/#sthash.34ti0ZjM.dpuf
  16. Hi I know this is a few weeks after the discussions but heres one opinion about Bessemer Grange. I coach cycling activities at the track in Burbage Road. Recently I organised free cycling activities for some schools in Southwark. Bessemer Grange was one of them. They responded quickly to this offer and were very well organised. (Some schools did not) This was a group of year 6 and they were fantastic. Well behaved and listened. Both teachers were great Penny and Amanda. Amanda walked her group down from the top of Red Post Hill to join in the activities. Very pro-active teachers.
