CPZ in Dulwich Village ward to go live on January 6
Kathleen Olander replied to Glemham's topic in Roads & Transport
Southwark Council want all their streets to be CPZ's, it's all about the money. -

If you fancy testing this, go and stand in middle of DV Junction and I can guarantee it! -
How long before Starmer gives him the boot? Zero carbon no longer zero by 2030, it's now crept up to 5% and likely to creep further, the closer we get to the next General Election. I don't think Ed will like that!

CPZ in Dulwich Village ward to go live on January 6
Kathleen Olander replied to Glemham's topic in Roads & Transport
I thought this was a joke, take a look at Appendix A, why do we put up with this? What is the point in these so called consultations when Southwark Council just do what they want in any case? Dear Residents RE: CPZ Update - 23/AP/3458 – 152-154 East Dulwich Grove. In advance of the planning committee meeting on Monday 9th December - I wanted to inform you of a material planning update, which would help in reducing vehicular congestion around James Allens Girls School (JAGS) related to application ref: 23/AP/3458 – 152-154 East Dulwich Grove. The consultation on the revised Dulwich Village CPZ (which covers the roads immediately adjacent to JAGS) has been completed and the parking team have indicated that the CPZ will be implemented in the New Year. The hours of operation will be Monday – Friday 08:00-09:30 and 15:00-17:00. This is intended to discourage parent drop offs/pick ups and staff parking – reducing the stress of the road network in terms of traffic, congestion and illegal parking. Related details can be found on the following website: https://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/ieDecisionDetails.aspx?ID=8052 This includes the Record of Decision and the related Report outlining details. Further details should be announced by the Parking Team through Council communication channels. Given the number of objections related to transport issues, I considered this would be a valuable update. The newly landscaped Dulwich Square
Kathleen Olander replied to Earl Aelfheah's topic in Roads & Transport
This is painful, don't take my word for it, go and take a look. It's dangerous, it's all one colour, a child would not know what is for pedestrians and what part is for cycles, it all merges into one. I only know because I live in the area and saw the plans, visitors don't have that luxury. -

The cycle track runs all through the junction, it does not have any kerb of any significance in most places. -

There is no clear definition of the areas for bikes and pedestrians. As a result some cyclists are cycling all over the pedestrian bits and pedestrians keep wandering into the cyclist bits. It's all the same bland colour. Motorcycles/mopeds etc still keep riding through as well! -

Thank you, but they are the ones he doesn't respond to. -

Have you got a number or e-mail for him? He was always so reliable, but now does not answer the phone or e-mails? -

The new pavement in Calton Avenue is slippery in the rain, I found that out today. -

I thought Russell was great too, but haven't been able to get hold of him for well over a year. I accepted his quote for a whole new roof and never heard anymore? Strange. -

Don't forget the concrete heraldic shields on the pavement outside the shops, anyone know what they are about? Is it to do with the "All's Well", motto of yore? -
Southwark Waste and Recycling Guide
Kathleen Olander replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The guide was another waste of resources and our money, why on earth didn't they incorporate it with the one they send each year telling us what days our collections are. I wish they would give up on that Southwark Life as well, or at least ask if you want it. -

The plants have gone in today, they look nice. Lets hope Southwark Council maintain them better than they do the ones in Court Lane. They will need watering in summer and pruning and weeding, good job there is plenty of money to spend on this junction. There is also a water leak at the junction today, hope they don't have to dig it all up! -
Yes, I read it incorrectly. It still deserved to be painted over though 👀
-
What piece needs to be protected, the one that's been painted over?
-
It was awful, in my opinion.

Driver smashes traffic light in Dulwich Village
Kathleen Olander replied to Dogkennelhillbilly's topic in Roads & Transport
If you have crashed a car and then run away then if you are caught in all likeliness you will not have a full licence or any insurance, so you won't get a ban or a prison sentence which you will most likely deserve, as the prisons are full. Opinion expressed. -
Happened to me today , but no-one injured, I was crossing from Dulwich Burial Ground over to Harold George side. A lady on a bike stopped at lights as it was green for pedestrians, and I started to cross, a motorbike/moped came along side her and went straight through red light. A man also crossing shouted at him but was ignored. This was at 12.30 p.m. today, happened so quick didn't get reg no. I think junction signage is unclear. Why can't regular, universal NO ENTRY signs go up there?
-
I have checked this out today. The problem is that there are pedestrian lights from DV Burial Ground which is to enable pedestrians to cross the cycle lane safely, so green man shows and you walk out. However, if you are cycling from Turney Road and going straight across there is nothing to indicate that the pedestrians have the green light. Really badly planned and dangerous.
