  1. Yes. 1st was 40 hours of very hard work. 2nd 9 hours- 4 hours at home- gas and air and a water birth at Kings- it was fast and painful but really lovely and I felt really empowered by the experience.
  2. We stayed at a Pierre Vacance site in N France- amazingly good value and all facilities on site which you could use or avoid as you wished! It was full of kids and mine made friends from all over Europe- they played out together every evening and had a ball, they still reminisce about it now!
  3. Grand Hotel du Bahia is gorgeous. We stayed in late October and the weather was still really warm.
  4. http://www.theguardian.com/teacher-network/teacher-blog/2013/aug/25/talking-heads-outstanding-different-approach-teaching
  5. PAYE - half the price and very efficient.
  6. Not close but Sudbury Hall in Staffordshire is amazing- it has a museum of childhood- great fun.
  7. We won one two years ago- the shoot was great fun but the pictures are very expensive. I also spent a fortune as they were so good!
  8. Paye for nannies- much cheaper than Nannytax and really helpful/efficient.
  9. Growlybear can I ask was this recently or a while ago?
  10. We have children at the Horniman. It is a lovely friendly school. The teaching in reception and year 1 has been excellent. It is smaller than average with a great outdoor space and what a view! There are huge choices of excellent pre and post school clubs. My daughter is progressing really well academically but more importantly to us she loves her school. She feels proud to go there and has a great group of friends.
  11. I think anyone with a place at Goose Green should be thrilled.I think its insulting for someone to be moaning in the paper about being allocated a good school when there are lots of fraught people here with no school place at all yet.
  12. Yes ... roll on 5 indeed. Good luck to all waiting.
  13. Likewise the Horniman. We love it. It's a smaller than average friendly school with great outdoor space. Our daughter is so happy there.
  14. Thank goodness. At last you get someone who is hearing how you feel and what you want x
  15. I am so sorry to hear this has happened. I hope you finally get the support you deserve tomorrow. If not please pm me.
  16. I agree with Pickle. Be honest as diplomatically as you can. Friendship groups change all the time at this point I find. Your daughter found it upsetting last time and I would just say you think they don't really get on that well. At least you can have a break for a week with half term...!
  17. Recommend Science Boffins- google them. They do really exciting/funny experiments- explosions- magnets- balloons- fireworks etc My daughter had them for her party and it kept 14 6 years olds enthralled for an hour!
  18. Hi we are on Therapia We got into Horniman in a bulge year and we love the school. We were told by Fairlawn we had virtually no chance getting a place there and this was two years ago unless we waited on the list and maybe got a place after the year had started. It's such an anxiety provoking time- good luck!
  19. We went to the Forte Village- got a reasonable deal from Citalia It was heavenly and the facilities for kids were just amazingly good
  20. First fast day yesterday. I found the day fine as busy at work. I found early evening hard 5-8 and then was ok again. I agree with trying to eat as little as possible till the end of the day and saving 400 calories at least for supper. I also ended up asleep earlier as I felt worn out!
  21. Likewise we are very happy at Horniman. It's a smaller than average school in a wonderful setting. Very friendly. Our daughter is in Yr 1 and her experience so far has been really good- she loves her school and we have been happy with the teachers to date.
  22. Asda Old Kent Road- get well!
  23. We went to Hall Place today it was great. There is quite a lot just in the gardens- you can get a map and follow a trail looking for clues. There is a glasshouse with fish and terrapins- a herb garden -ducks- Lovely cafe. It's a great find!
  24. My daughter loves Sara Ogilvie's Dogs Don't do Ballet and Rhinos Don't eat Pancakes. Also Shirley Hughes Alfie stories and the Princess Poppy series. She also likes the Rainbow Fairies stories.
