  1. Really nice man. Very professional and top quality work.
  2. Reliable, communicative handyman who can turn his hands to seemingly any task. Fitted blinds on his first visit and mended our garden fence on the second visit. Quotes upfront. Will definitely use again.
  3. Dave is hard working, reliable and reasonably priced. He's also a really nice guy to have in your house.
  4. I've had children at GG for the past 10 years. I've seen it go through a number of twists and turns, both in terms of staffing and Ofsted reporting. But there has never been a single day when I have regretted sending my children to Goose Green. It has a wonderful 'heart', has introduced my children to a wide variety of friends and they have both grown into emotionally intelligent young people because of this. The sports, arts and music facilities are also a great bonus. I'd recommend you visit the school, as I did all those years ago and see if it's right for your child.
  5. Another positive plug for this local resource! My 11 year old loves Drama on a Saturday morning and the classes have done wonders for her self confidence - especially because of the mixed age group lessons. I can highly recommend!
  6. All Small businesses in the UK need to fill in this form if you are with HSBC - nothing to do with nationality. It's a new formality. If you can bear it, go into a branch and ask them which box to tick.
  7. .....who turned right out of Burbage Road onto Half Moon Lane at 9am whilst texting - the cyclist you ran off the road at the zebra crossing whist we were all screaming at you to stop is OK. Thought you'd like to know. Could have been a child. You looked up and drove off. Have a nice day. **** you.
  8. Bravo, Matsikula! What our schools need is positive community support such as this, which starts with the parents of course. It's amazing what this can achieve.
  9. Keep voting ! It would be such an achievement for the school.
  10. Yes, James is right. Sharron Marland will leave the school in excellent shape and that includes a strong leadership team and pro-active governing body. Anyone who knows Mrs Marland will know that she will have planned this meticulously! If you are thinking about applying to the school, I suggest you attend one of the open days and ask any questions directly. I've had children at the school for 7 years, so if you have any other questions - please feel free to PM.

  12. I know it's Monday and it's cold and dark, but if you see a very heavily pregnant woman on the train (and a number of you looked up when I spoke to her), please at least offer your seat, if only to restore my faith in humankind.
  13. I have two children at the school and think that if you want your child to be well educated and cared for within a community school that strives for excellence, then look no further.
  14. Loving the positive attitude GipsyMama! It was no doubt a similar bunch of parents that helped to transform Bessemer Grange and Goose Green into the oversubscribed schools they are today. I'm willing to bet that Langbourne will head in the same direction with parents like yourself on board!
  15. I have a friend who has accepted a place at Langbourne and is very happy with her choice. If you are focused on results, then perhaps not the school for you - but a new head, great facilities and look at all those clubs - it's even got a chess club! My advice would be to go and visit and canvas some opinions for parents with children already at the school rather than listening to some contributors to the forum who have probably never set foot inside the school gates......we were in a similar situation a few years ago when we accepted a place at Goose Green so I know what a bunch of willing parents and a new head can do to improve a school. And I also know that being part of that change is the most uplifting experience I have ever had! Just a thought.
  16. Hello We've been at Goose Green School for 5 years now and have seen it transform from an under performing school to a wonderful, vibrant community school with some of the best SATS results and extra curricular activities in the area. The Ofsted report is way out of date, but please do visit the school for yourselves and take a look at the website www.goosegreenprimaryschool.org Personally, I just can't recommend this school enough. I feel privileged that my children attend Goose Green. Feel free to PM me if you'd like a chat - but be warned, I have only good things to say!!
  17. Having just returned from the evening performance of Hoodwinked (Robin Hood the Musical) by Years 3&4 at Goose Green, I can honestly say that I was blown away by the standard of acting and singing. The staff had clearly put a huge amount of time and effort into working with the children. Congratulations one and all!
  18. Thank you! Will PM you.
  19. Great! Thank you. I'll PM you.
  20. The Nursery at Goose Green Primary School need some new scooters for the playground. If you have an old scooter lurking in your house/garden, please consider donating it to the School. You can either drop it off at the school or PM me and I'll arrange to have it collected. Thank you for your support.
  21. Hello to all Ivydale parents (and parents to be) from a Goose Green parent - when my first child started school, GG was right at the bottom of the table and heading into Special Measures - but I chose the school because I loved it when I went to look around. And now I couldn't be prouder of what the school has achieved. My advice, for what it is worth, is to get involved and love your school!
  22. Congratulations to all the staff and pupils at Goose Green Primary, especially the outstanding Year 6 teachers, Mr Sawh and Mr Robinson. This is proof that hard work, dedication and strong leadership really can turn a school around!
  23. Hello and congratulations on being offered a place at Goose Green Primary - which is now an oversubscribed school. The school turned a significant corner just before the Summer and is now on a par with the local 'popular' schools - always with an aspiration to acheive greater things. The school reflects the local community and engages with it. The parents, staff and pupils are enormously proud of our school. But don't take my word for it (or anyone else's for that matter) - come and see the school in action and make your own mind up.
  24. Both of our children attended this nursery from aged 1-school. It is lovely. The wonderful manager, Pat has been there for years and yes, the garden is wonderful. I couldn't recommend it more highly.
