On topic, can anyone recommend a decent biography of David Bowie?
-
Thanks HB. Seeing as you liked that detail, I'll add that I once snogged (as only teenagers can) one of their bass players at the Camden Palace! Anyway, here you go: I feel bad, and I've felt worse I'm a creep, yeah, I'm a jerk

Hello, by the way. Sorry for jumping in on your game unannounced. And for cheating. If I'm allowed, I'll have to go off now and think of some good lyrics now...

Ok, I confess I was intrigued by the grebo clue as I used to be into those bands many years back, and I was sure it was Ned's Atomic Dustbin (my friend "dated" their drummer aged 16 and they invited us backstage when supporting the Wonderstuff at Brixton Academy, oh the excitement!), so I looked it up online and it was - Until You Find Out Brendan Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > all you need to is catch me > when i'm back on the real scene > and all the things that i don't do > just make me laugh, 'cause they irritate you

I first got into David Bowie when I was 11, back in the early eighties, thanks to a friend's very cool brother. Started with Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust and Changes and then started exploring the rest. He's still my favourite musician/artist/whatever you want to call him, 25 years later. I think there are a lot of other people like us out there...

Hi, as Illy and Lavazza are both made with espresso machines in mind, I would go for Monmouth and ask them which of their beans work best for cafetiere coffee Good luck!

speak for yourself woof and it's a film, not a tv program

Being serious, I thought it was excellent. Very realistic (my partner is from the area and can testify to that), brilliant acting (some from non-professionals) and a true reflection of the terrible influence of the camorra in Naples and Campania. I have heard though that the english translation of the book is crap.

Can anyone give me advice on travelling around South America?
sanity girl replied to sayerjess's topic in The Lounge
Hi Jess I spent four months exploring south america (brazil, bolivia, peru) on a budget on my own a few years back and had a great time Inever once felt threatened or in danger - I had more problems from a bad stomach bug! I found that I was never actually travelling alone as I met up with people along the way. Feel free to PM me if you would like specific advice/info. -
both crystal palace and brockwell parks have good hills. I remember sledging down them when we had the last heavy snow, I think it was 1991!

Sitting at my desk in my wellies after walking into work (not heroic though, it's only north dulwich to camberwell). Can't wait to leave early so I can go and play in the snow with my little girl!

Strawbs, I have a collection of glass ramekins from gu desserts lined up on my kitchen windowsill - would you like them? For the rest - are you a member of freecycle? people are often getting rid of things like that on there.

I'm afraid I missed out on the first "oh my" thread, which is where this picture should have gone. As far as I'm concerned footballers win hands down over rugby players in terms of hot bods!

sanity girl replied to Eliza.D's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Go to customer services, tell them you don't have a ?1 for the trolley and they'll give you a token that you can use instead - they even give you a little clip to add it to your keyring , pretty handy eh? -

David Bowie, Beatles, Kinks, Ian Dury, Aretha Franklin, Talking Heads My mum (now 67) is more up-to-date with current music than me! She went through a big Outkast phase recently and remains a faithful devotee of Prince. I remember a classic moment at one of my birthday parties (I guess I was about 7 at the time) when I decided to play "Plaistow Patricia" by Ian Dury to my friends. For those of you who are not familiar with the song, the opening words are "**seholes, b**tards, f***ing c**ts and pricks" My mum was mortified.

What is it with drivers and pedestrian crossings in this country!!???
sanity girl replied to Strawbs's topic in The Lounge
LuvPeckham Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just be thankful you don't live in France, where > the crossing and stopping policy is non existant Or Naples, where some drivers do not even stop for a red light at button operated pedestrian crossings! Here in London, like Gerrard, I find that a good long stare at the oncoming driver usually does the trick, but I also always make sure they have stopped/slowed down before I step out. -
Dear Kel I am also about to have a toy and clothes clear out and I am likely to have some soft toys, and women's clothes size 10-12, so let me know if your brother and his family could use something. Best wishes to you and your family, Molly
