Dear admin In the last couple of days I've noticed that phone numbers are somehow being deleted from private messages I'm receiving (the last one was a phone number for a cleaner somebody had recommended). Do you know why this might be happening? I've also noticed that phone numbers are being deleted from public posts - but perhaps this is intentional? Many thanks for investigating
  2. oh my god - that is disgusting behaviour! I am sorry that mind as a charity will be missing out, but I will not be donating to or using that shop again - I shall take my business elsewhere!
  3. The bog standard Ikea white plastic highchair with metal legs is good - really cheap and very easy to clean. You can also get a clip on tray for it. If you are prepared to spend more, then I would really really recommend getting a Stokke tripp trapp - I got mine for about ?80 second hand from gumtree, and you can sometimes find them to pick up locally on ebay. They are great because they are adjustable so you can keep using them as your baby grows into a toddler and beyond, and they look more like a normal chair, can be tucked under the table, etc.
  4. Thanks for your replies - that's reassuring. I remember having a very close friend aged 3, but then like your daughter and her friend we were looked after together and our families were very close. And I have photos of my 4th birthday party with many little friends, some of whom I am still in touch with now! I guess I shouldn't worry too much and let things take their natural course. I have attempted to organise play dates in the past, but everyone seems to be so busy at weekends! And thanks candj for the congrats!
  5. It's my daughter's 3rd birthday soon and as I was thinking about organising a party for her I realised she doesn't really have any proper friends - I only came up with three other children to invite - her cousin who is 18 mths older, and two friends' children who are slightly younger. I felt a bit sad that she doesn't have any proper friends yet to invite, and I wondered if this is down to a failing on my part to organise weekend activities with her peers etc or whether it is normal for 3 year olds to not really socialise like that yet. The problem is compounded by the fact that she was born in Italy and we moved back here when she was 15 mths, so I don't have any of the usual NCT/antenatal buddies with children the same age - they are all back in Italy. She does go to nursery (not local) and interacts with the other children there, but hasn't formed any obvious bonds with particular children. I've noticed that when we do socialise with friends who have children (all younger than her) she is much more interested in interacting with the adults than the children. What are your thoughts? Should I be making more of an effort on her behalf to make "play dates" and so on, or is this all normal?
  6. I don't know yet - the police are handling it and I'm waiting to hear from them Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Was the car driver prosecuted?
  7. Thanks Sue. It was pretty shocking at the time but we are both fine now. My daughter talks about it quite cheerily and has even re-enacted events (ambulance, trip to hospital etc) with her teddies!! And she is still fine with buggies and zebra crossings. I am now super-paranoid about crossing the road at all times and am myself driving more slowly since it happened.
  8. I am all for a 20mph limit, for the reasons Sue gives above. My daughter was recently hit on a zebra crossing (in her buggy) by a car going at approx 10mph. Luckily she only suffered a graze to her face, but the damage to her buggy from the impact was alarming, and it was literally wrenched out of my hands and flew a few metres across the road. Drivers, please slow down and don't drive like idiots - do you really want a badly injured or dead child on your conscience for the rest of your lives?
  9. saline drops are good for clearing their nose. You have to lie them on their side, put the drops in the top nostril and the gunk should come out of the other one. Then vice versa. Hope that works for you!
  10. I have a red fleece sleepsuit from sainsburys that I bought for my daughter but she refused to wear it - age 1.5-2 years - happy to sell for ?4 if anyone interested?
  11. My daughter moved over to a cot bed with pillow and 4 tog duvet from mothercare at about that age - she was fine. She's now almost three and in a proper single bed with 10.5 tog duvet!
  12. What about a walking pole for his lake district trips - or does he already have one?
  13. I'm sure going via city airport will make a big difference - the one time I used it, it was blissfully quiet
  14. To be honest if it was me I wouldn't go. I think being 32 weeks pregnant, having a toddler in tow and having to travel one way alone is a pretty good excuse. I could understand if it was a sibling, but I think as it's a cousin it is fair enough to say you can't make it.
  15. My daughter always loves a trip on the train to charing cross (via London bridge) to see trafalgar square - fountains, lions etc and then a visit to the national gallery. Lunch at wagamamas in covent garden nearby is always good. Or train to London bridge, walk along river looking at boats going by, trip to tate and again lunch at wagamamas! The horniman is great, although I must confess I am getting a little bored of going there - but my daughter loves it every time. Soft play at beckenham spa is good too.
  16. fascinating! I will pay a visit when the weather improves. thanks
  17. Hi Fuschia Yes, I also read the article and comments and found it all very interesting. I stopped breastfeeding my daughter when she was 15 months out of necessity (5 day work trip in US combined with advice from doctors as my body was really suffering from the lack of oestrogen because of prolonged bfing) but I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I had continued. She is almost three now and is still obsessed with touching my boobs, but doesn't express any interest in "boobie milk" any more!
  18. Has anyone been out in their car yet? Just wondering whether to try getting my daughter from north dulwich to her nursery in stockwell
  19. Hi, I sympathise. My hands get really really bad in the winter with the cold to the point where the skin cracks and bleeds. I wash with a natural soap made with oils (or when living in Italy where Aveeno brand readily available I used their oat cleansing bar - very gentle indeed) and then smother with as much cream as possible at regular intervals. When going to bed I put some really oily balm on them followed by intensive hand cream and that seems to help. Amazing how quickly such greasy stuff sinks into my parched skin!
  20. I always loved the Physical Graffiti cover - my parents had the original LP and it fascinated me as a child I guess there were only including british bands in the list but if it was international I would have included Andy Warhol's Velvet Underground cover
  21. Five. Blur, Led Zep, Primal Scream, Stones and Bowie. Quite an odd choice I thought Edited because I missed one out
  22. Latchmere leisure centre in battersea has a pool with "beach", wave machine and small elephant slide for little ones
