  1. Yup I've washed ours several times on the wool cycle. Came out fine.
  2. My son had eczema as a small baby and now bathes in Nature babycare bubble bath with no problems. E-45 also do a moisturising bubble bath for kids which is good. Both are unperfumed.
  3. My childrens' favourite tea - pasta with butter and parmesan and some broccoli on the side. I use one of the de cecco shapes that cooks in 8 minutes. Alternatively gnocchi rather than pasta. I keep gnocchi and broccoli in the freezer and cook them together - takes 5 minutes max.
  4. When you're at the Tate make sure you also go to the children's play area on the 5th floor - there is a musical slide and space for them to potter around. Maybe you could also do a little boat trip along the river on the Thames clipper. My 4 year old loved that
  5. Try a washable nappy wrap over a disposable at night to stop leaks. Motherease or Gen-Y are good. If you are interested I have a couple of wraps I would be happy to sell on at a low price.
  6. I would definitely try a few different kinds of nappies, and get them 2nd hand. Once you've decided which kind works best for you then you can order some more new. clothnappytree is a great forum for advice and also a good place to buy "preloved" nappies. I am a fan of pocket/all in two nappies and am happy to show you what I use if that would be helpful. Just PM me!
  7. I have no idea as I've never had either of my children weighed (apart from immediately after the birth). I find it's the best way to avoid any anxieties, as long as they are thriving (mind you, they were both rather fat babies :)) ). I think it's hard to predict children's size as an adult as they tend to grow in "spurts" but I seem to remember reading that if you double their height at 2 years old then that will give you an idea of their height as an adult.
  8. For Hellosailor and Kalamiphile Ben Goldacre on homeopathy please give this a read
  9. My first baby was hard to settle and I had a fisher price take alone swing that a friend passed on to me - it was brilliant. As the others suggest - have a look for a second hand one on gumtree or ebay. I would offer you the one I had, but it's long gone
  10. My son lost one of his shoes while out with Grandma yesterday - quite possibly while at the playgroup at the bottom of Greendale. Just wondered if anyone has picked it up? It's khaki coloured startrite prewalker, size 3G.
  11. Positano itself isn't massively toddler friendly as it is built on cliffs and has lots and lots of steps. Having said that, it is totally stunning there and there is a lovely b&b called La Fenicewhich has a very small plunge pool, beautiful terrace and access to a private beach, so that might suit? It really depends what their budget is. I lived down that way (Naples) for four years and had lots of holidays on that part of the coast so am happy to advise further. Another option is to stay near Massa Lubrense which is gorgeous. There are tons of hotels, b&bs, agriturismos, apartments to rent and campsites. Really depends what they are after.
  12. Another recommendation for Wonderland Avenue by Danny Sugarman. I have a copy if anyone wants to borrow it.
  13. I love love love my baby jogger city mini - was always a big fan of maclarens until I got it, but it's in a different league. It is very comfortable to push and for baby/toddler to sit in. You can easily push one handed while holding the hand of another child. It does recline flat if you want that, and the hood extends far enough forward to also act as a sunshade. You can get a bumper bar as an add on. Also has a much more spacious basket underneath than the maclarens. Only possibly negatives I would say are that it is heavier than a Maclaren quest/triumph and it doesn't fold as small - however you can easily remove the wheels to get it fitting neatly into a smaller space
  14. You could give it away on freecycle - I'm sure you'd find a taker
  15. I also liked the widgey cushion as it is high and firm (I'm also tall and before I found it had to use normal pillows stacked up!)
  16. I use both Ocado and Waitrose. Very happy with service from both.
  17. Hi there, I've used cloth nappies for my second baby and don't have a tumble drier - not a problem at all. I wash every other day, hang them out carefully on a clothes airer overnight and then finish them off in the airing cupboard the next day. I agree that you need to try a few different kinds out to see what suits your baby best, as they are all such different shapes and sizes. When my boy was smaller I liked the tots bots easyfits and flips, now I prefer bumgenius organic all-in-ones (very absorbent but slow drying) and fuzzibunz one size elite (amazingly quick drying so great for those of us without a tumble drier). For night time I prefer two part nappies as described by Pickle above and use little lamb bamboo with motherease wrap. You can adapt the absorbent part some types of nappies to suit a boy or a girl e.g. when using the flips on the smaller setting you can fold the insert for double absorbency at the back (for girls) or the front (for boys). I have a few flips I'm planning to sell and am happy to show you the rest of my stash - just PM me if you'd like to pop over. Oh, and a great website for buying nappies is Fill Your Pants - they do some good trial packs which you can pay for using your real nappies for london voucher real nappies for london Enjoy!
  18. Hi Bee, my daughter was also similar as a newborn - constantly falling asleep while feeding and waking every 45 minutes at night. I did the tickling feet/cheek trick while she was feeding to stop her from falling asleep/wake her up again. I also gave her a dummy (godsend) and had one of those baby swings to put her in when I needed to do stuff (also a godsend) - worth a try? Her feeding patterns settled down by the time she was a couple of months old and her night wakings were down to 2 by the time she was 4 months. My son was completely different - napped for 4 hours at a time during the day, cluster fed in the evenings, slept all night for the first three months, refused a dummy - now at 16 months he's a bit of a nightmare! Hope it all improves for you soon, and when things get bad just repeated the mantra "it will pass, it will pass" :)
  19. Michelle, my almost 16 month old does this too - he is obsessed. At the moment it's all about "cooter, cooter!" so sweet :) MichelleT Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Ladywotlunches, at the moment he pushes the > scooter along by the handle :) but I don't think > it will be long before he is scooting as he and > his nannyshare buddy have one each.
  20. Ooh great, thanks for the tip! Let's hope H&M do red shiny shoes! :))
  21. Thanks so much Becca - she has only been to see small shows like the Gruffalo and Room on the Broom but cinema/theatre is really her thing so I think she will be fine. And I have just realised I have a friend who can get me cheap tickets - result!
