  1. This is the model my daughter has - although hers also has a slide out desk (which I haven't got around to assembling yet!!) It's simple, but sturdy and strong. There are shelves at one end which are handy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stompa-Pine-Cabin-Bed-/221357417372?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Beds&hash=item3389ee239c
  2. I got my daughter a second hand Stompa cabin bed on ebay - it's great and I'm really pleased with it. You can also use the space underneath for sleepovers if you have a spare mattress.
  3. I live near North Dulwich station and hear owls in the night - going on five years now
  4. We have had some lovely holidays in Dorset near Bridport/Lyme Regis and booked cottages through Dorset Coastal Cottages http://www.dorsetcoastalcottages.com/ There is lots to do around there - fossil hunting on the beaches, Abbotsbury swannery and children's farm, etc
  5. Italy is full of places like this. Have a search for villagio or residenza in the area you are interested in. The only thing is any clubs for kids tend to be italian speaking only and for slightly older kids. e.g. http://www.santafortunata.com/en/index.asp http://www.campingcapoferrato.it/index.php/en/ http://www.villaggiosaturno.it/eng/home.php The Cilento coast in Italy is good as there are nice beaches. You can fly to Naples and hire a car. The Sardinian coast east of Cagliari is beautiful - white sandy beaches
  6. It'll be about 10 minutes in the car - but depends a bit on which side of Dulwich Village you are living in as the village can get v trafficky around school drop-off/pick up times
  7. Gosh I don't envy you your situation! Have you tried the new Judith Kerr School and Bessemer Grange? I have friends who moved their daughters to Judith Kerr this year for year 2 and they are both happy with it.
  8. That's great - you son will be in excellent hands. I was so impressed by the care of Daniel Tweedie and his team and was astonished by the speed of my daughter's recovery. Wishing you and your son all the best for the op. nbb Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Wow there's a right little community of the > tonsil-less out there :) > > Thanks very much everyone, this really helps. > Yes, it is Evelina he's having it done - such an > amazing hospital with amazing staff! 9. Where are you having it done? My 6 year old daughter had the op (plus grommets) at Evelina children's hospital (part of St Thomas) at the end of October, and she just had her follow up appt today. The consultant in charge of ENT there is trialling a new technique which has a much better recovery time/less pain/ less risk of bleeding than a traditional tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy. My daughter had the new technique and was pretty much back to normal 2 days later - she had painkillers for 4 days and was back to school a week later - I was astounded by how quickly she recovered. Happy to chat via PM if you want to know more.
  10. Have you tried Bessemer Grange? Well placed between Dulwich and Denmark Hill and has had good feedback from parents on here
  11. If you can afford this place I would take it in a flash http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-41679313.html Right in the middle of Dulwich Village and very close to Infants school.
  12. I think a lot depends on your budget for rent. You could look around Bessemer Grange school, which is between North Dulwich and Denmark Hill and if you got a place round there your husband would be walking distance from Kings. I rent close to North Dulwich station, work just by Denmark Hill (so close to Kings) and my daughter goes to Dulwich Infants. It's a lovely school but be warned renting close by will be very expensive! I have been in our place 5 years so am lucky to have a rent which is just about affordable. You could also look around Camberwell Grove/ Grove Park which would be very close to Kings and near Dog Kennel Hill School.
  13. I had very low ferritin levels due I think to heavy periods - took ferrous sulphate tablets twice a day for a few months and levels increased a little - I'm now on the pill to deal with the heavy periods and that has helped a lot. It's cheaper to buy ferrous sulphate direct from the chemist rather than on prescription. Worth getting your vitamin d levels checked too? And I would change GP given that they failed to pass on your results to you and advise that you needed to take iron supplements!
  14. Took my car today when it was very busy and they did a great job - inside and out
  15. Thanks, that's good to know. Did you book in advance for Tower of London or just turn up? 16. I'd like to take my almost 7 year old daughter ice skating over the christmas holidays. Any recommendations for the best outdoor rink? I was thinking Somerset House but I see there are also rinks at Tower of London, Canary Wharf, Natural History Museum and London Eye. It will be her first time skating. I'd welcome any suggestions/advice!
  17. Did it last year for my 6 year old - it was fine. I enlisted a couple of other mums to help out and farmed my then 2.5 year old out to his grandparents. If you can get them to do a running about game outside for 10 minutes or so before birthday tea I'd recommend that. We did the usual games - musical statues, pass the parcel, what's the time mr wolf etc etc. I kept it to 8 children.
  18. It's just off Windsor Walk/ Grove Lane near Denmark Hill station - behind the building where I work, which is why I know about it. http://www.maudsleylearning.com/ortus-location/
  19. The cafe at the Ortus near Denmark Hill does very nice salads - ?2.50 for a small bowl, ?4.50 for large http://www.maudsleylearning.com/the-ortus/cafe-at-the-ortus/
  20. I've stopped using anything in the bath as bubble bath definitely dries my son's skin. Just a bit of soap to clean any dirty bits. When he was a baby and had a bit of eczema I used Aveeno bath oil. My daughter's skin on the other hand can tolerate anything!
  21. Aveeno http://www.boots.com/en/Aveeno%C2%AE-Skin-Relief-Lotion-200ml_983786/?CAWELAID=358555278&cm_mmc=pla-_-google-_-Boots+Beauty-_-Beauty+-+PLAs&kw={keyword}&cagpspn=pla
  22. I'd go for good old Delia Smith complete cookery course as suggested above
  23. GK barbers on Melbourne Grove always do a very good job on my 3 year old son, and the guy there is very patient with him.
